Delhi Govt Permits Home Delivery Of Liquor Through Apps & Websites, Delhites React With Memes
The second wave of COVID-19 which has hit the country pretty badly almost a month earlier is slowing coming under control as the number of COVID-19 positive patients is decreasing by each day and the number of active cases is also going down. Some of the Indian states have started the process of unlocking while few states don’t want to take any risk as of now and have decided to continue with the lockdown or stricter restrictions for some more time.
New Delhi was one of the most affected cities in the coronavirus pandemic and it will remain under lockdown till June 7; however, the construction activities have been allowed to be carried out and one more decision has been taken by the Delhi government which has brought smile on the faces of those who love liquor.
Till now the citizens of two Indian states – Punjab and Tamil Nadu were able to get the home delivery of alcohol but now the Delhites will also be able to order liquor which will be delivered to their homes. The Delhi government has allowed sale of Indian and foreign liquor through online portals and smartphone apps but only vendors with specific license (Form L-13) will be allowed to deliver liquor. Not just this, it should also be noted that the delivery of liquor is not allowed at institutes, offices and hostels.
After this order was issued by the government, the online users took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to express their opinion on this matter. There is no doubt that many Delhites will be happy with this decision of the government and this is how they reacted:
