The Most Embarrassing Incidents In The History Of IPL

7:41 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most famous and most watched T20 cricket tournaments that are played all over the world. However, there have been several controversies as well in the IPL and sometimes such incidents have taken place which can be termed as embarrassing.

1. Apples offered to umpires:

In a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) which was played at Eden Gardens, when the umpire walked on to the field, he was offered apple in place of ball by a beautiful woman. He was offered apples first two times which he refused to take and then third time, he was offered the ball. Some people found it funny while there were few who found it disgusting and embarrassing.

2. Karishma Kotak and Danny Morrison:

Danny Morrison, the former New Zealand cricket player, has turned into a famous cricket presenter and he has also been a part of IPL many times. Once while doing pre-match analysis with a British Indian model Karishma Kotak, Danny pulled the woman towards him and lifted her after holding her from waist. Although Karishma didn’t show any uneasiness and even put her hand on Danny’s shoulder, there is no denying the fact that any other girl might have felt uncomfortable and offended in such a situation.

3. Passionate kiss between Siddharth Mallya and Deepika Padukone

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who is now married to actor Ranveer Singh was dating Siddharth Mallya in 2011. Siddharth is son of Vijay Mallya, the owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Deepika used to accompany Siddharth in the matches of RCB and in a match between KKR and RCB which was played at Eden Gardens, the couple was seen kissing each other passionately. They broke up in 2012 and Deepika has always refrained from speaking on this regard, calling it her private matter.

4. Danny Morrison with cheerleaders:

Danny Morrison has a reputation of crossing the limits with females and he has been criticised many times for his acts. The 53 years old former New Zealand cricketer took his antics to another level when he carried a cheerleader on his shoulder while giving pitch report. Danny was giving pitch report along with Pakistani former cricketer Ramiz Raja and in the end, Danny went to all the five cheerleaders and they said one letter of Pakistani cricketer’s first name.

5. Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth:

In 2008, both the Indian cricketers made headlines as Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth after a match that was played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Harbhajan was in MI while Sreesanth was part of the Punjab team and the match was won by KXIP. Bhajji slapped the Kerala pacer while the players were shaking hands and Sreesanth was in tears after getting slapped. An official complaint was filed by KXIP and as Harbhajan was found guilty, he was banned for the remaining matches of that IPL season. His claim to the salary for the season was also rejected and the BCCI disciplinary committee banned him for 5 ODIs.

8) “The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new.”
—Murphy by Samuel Beckett

9) “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
—A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

10) “Quietly, like a shadow, I watch this drama unfold scene by scene. I am the lucid one here, the dangerous one, and nobody suspects.”

3:27 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most popular and most watched cricket tournaments of the world and it has improved the lives of many Indian cricketers. The franchises are very particular about their choices and bid only for those players who fit into their requirements.

Usually, the captains or the players of team India are the ones who are paid a huge amount of money but sometimes few lesser known players are purchased at a very high price as well. Today we will tell you about some of these players who were purchased at a very high price:

1. Jaydev Unadkat:

In the year 2017, Jaydev who is from Porbander, Gujarat, was a member of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and he took 12 wickets in the 24 matches in IPL. He also took a hat-trick against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) which made him one of the most sought bowlers among the IPL franchises. He was then bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) who spent Rs 11.50 crore for him but they released him as his performance was not as per the expectations. However, RR again picked him for Rs 8.40 crore but he disappointed again.

2. Ravindra Jadeja:

Ravindra Jadeja is an important member of the Indian squad as well as Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The cricketer who is from NavagamGhed, Gujarat, has been playing for CSK for six seasons now but he started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2008. His performance was helpful in getting him a berth in the Indian team and in 2012, CSK spent Rs 9.8 crores for him.

3. Saurabh Tiwary:

Saurabh Tiwary, the cricketer from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, showed some really great signs because of which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spent approximately Rs 11 crore on him. However, he was not able to perform well and in 2014, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils (DD) and later by Mumbai Indians (MI). But his performance dipped so much that no team bought him in IPL 2017 and since then he is out of the tournament.

4. Krunal Pandya:

Pandya brothers are pretty famous among the Indian cricket lovers and they both have proved their worth by performing well. Krunal, the elder brother of Hardik, was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 2 crore in 2016. Despite performing good, he was released by MI but was again bought by the franchise for Rs 8.80 crore by using Right to Match (RTM) card. Krunal who is from Ahmedabad was in high demand as RR, SRH and RCB were trying to buy him before MI used RTM.

5. Varun Chakravarthy:

Varun is from a small town Bidar in Karnataka and not many people knew about him before he was bought by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for a whopping amount of Rs 8.40 crore. However, he played only one match which was against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in which he got only one wicket and conceded 35 runs out of which he gave 25 in his first over.

10 Interesting Snake Facts That Are Hard To Guess

7:17 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Snakes, the slippery looking reptiles, are indeed among the most dangerous carnivore in the biome.

Found on every continent besides Antarctica, this legless creature has some very fascinating features that are bound to make you study more about it.

Here is a list of some of the most amazing snake facts you will ever come across:

1) The dangers of a decapitated head of a snake.

A snakehead can bite you, even hours after the snake’s death. And be careful, this bite contains a lot of venoms.

2) The digestion in a snake’s body.

The warmer a snake’s body is, the easier it is for him to digest its prey. The usual snakes take 3-5 days for digesting the prey but for large snakes like Anaconda, it can take weeks.

3) The mating process.

The snakes mate in a large breeding bowl. The bowl has 1 female alongside 12 males. The snakes stay in the bowl for about a month after which they lay eggs. The frequency of mating is around every other year or even less.

4) Most evolved snake species.

Black Mamba is the most evolved snake species until now. What differs them from the rest of the snake world is their highly evolved venom delivery style. They can deliver 12 string shots in time and their one bite is enough for a fully grown human.

5) Snakes don’t have ears.

Snakes don’t have any external ears or eardrums. Their skin, muscles and body cells carry sound vibrations to inner ears.

6) Too large a meal can explode a snake.

A very interesting incident happened when a Python blew up after he tries to eat a 6 feet Alligator. The Python was found having Alligator’s tail in his body and the head was missing.

7) The unusual use of teeth in a snake’s body.

Snakes have a large number of teeth but these are not used for chewing or cutting. The teeth in a snake are pointed backward which they use to prevent their prey from escaping outside the body.

8) The scale’s in a snake’s body.

A snake has scales over his whole body, even in his eyes. Interestingly, they are made from the same material which makes up human nails, called Keratin.

9) The two ends of a snake’s tongue.

A snake’s tongue has a fork-like shape. The two ends are used for tasting and identifying different chemicals. A snake can identify the smell on its tongue.

10) The two-headed snake.

Some snakes are joint twins. As they grow, the embryo splits and they have two heads with a single body. It is very difficult for such kind of snakes to survive as they fight for food amongst themselves and have a different sense of taste and directions.

Snakes are a very mysterious kind of species. There is so much to know about them, so much to study about them.

One more important thing to know about snakes is that they are not the man’s enemy, unless until disturbed. They are a real contributor towards maintaining the balance of the ecosystem we survive in.

Top 5 Beautiful Shots Played In Cricket History

12:55 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Cricket is a beautiful game. It has witnessed some amazing players beautifying its presence over the years.

They often say that this game of ours is a batsman’s game and to some extent is very true. Batsman on most days has the power to control the game as pitch aids them.

Owing to such control, batsman over the years have upped their game, especially in limited over cricket they have developed some shots that were hard to imagine some time back.

So let us have a look at some of the most beautiful, innovative and exhilarating shots that have been played on cricket field till now:

1) Virat Kohli’s flick shot.

Virat Kohli is technically one of the most complete batsman in cricket at the moment. As he has mentioned himself, his ODI shots are just an extension of his Test match shots.

One of the best proofs of that is his flick shot over mid wicket. The way Virat holds his shape after playing that shot just makes it a sight to behold.

It makes a beautiful sound off the bat and the ease with which it is played is enough to fizzle out the confidence out of any bowler.

2) Sachin Tendulkar’s straight drive.

Sachin Tendulkar, the best batsman the cricket world has ever witnessed has graced and improved the game with his beautiful presence.

Sachin’s straight drive is a shot that even the bowlers appreciate. The follow up to the shot just adds beauty to it. No beautiful words, no exotic metaphors can define the beauty of that shot enough.

3) ABD’s scoop over fine leg.

The very special 360 degree player, AB Devilliers, is among the most talented batsman of all time. Not many can do on a cricket field what AB does, one being among them his scoop over fine leg.

The way AB gets across to the off side, exposing all his stumps, and still getting enough contact with the ball to hit it out of the stadium is a skill set no one else possesses.

4) Rohit Sharma’s Pull shot.

Rohit Sharma is hands down the best puller among the modern day batsmen. No matter the speed of the ball, no matter the height, if Rohit decided to pull it, the ball is bound to go into the stands.

Rohit is a compulsive puller of the cricket ball and not many in the world has the hand eye coordination that he is gifted with. His lazy elegance makes the shot all the more beautiful.

5) Kumar Sangakkara’s Cover drive.

Left Handers have a beautiful elegance attached to every shot they play. The cover drive is among the most beautiful and poignant shots in our game and when a left hander as classy as Kumar Sangakkara plays it, the world is bound to look more beautiful.

When Kumar played this shot, it could be read even on the fielder’s faces how much they were in awe of it.

We should be glad and thankful to these players for making the game so much more beautiful and engaging to watch.

10 Beautiful Quotes Describing The Essence Of True Love

6:50 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Love, a feeling few people have been able to describe completely and purely in words. Almost everyone has tried but love is such a vast thing to just scum to a mere combination of alphabets.

When we talk about love, we talk about a feeling, a sensation that makes us feel special and helps us to know our importance. It is something that gives us chills in the middle of night but love is not always beautiful.

If it can give you chills in the idle of night, it is completely able to give you nights with a lot of pain with no one to support you. If it makes you feel complete, it can also make you feel empty.

That’s how love is, like everything else, having 2 sides of the coin. Yet, it is unique.

Let us have a look at some of the most romantic quotes that have even been written by someone who is or has been in love:

1) “I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane.”
― John Green, Looking for Alaska

2) “Oh I wouldn’t mind Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”
― John Green, Fault in our stars

3) “There is no pretending,” Jace said with absolute clarity. “I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I’ll love you then.”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Glass

4) “I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.”
― Lisa Kleypas, Blue-Eyed Devil

5) “I heard what you said. I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.”
― Shana Abe

6) “The very essence of romance is uncertainty.”
― Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest and Other Plays

7) “I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you.”
― John Green, Fault in our stars

8) “And in her smile I see something more beautiful than the stars.”
— Across the Universe by Beth Revis

9) “I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it wasn’t something about you at all. It was just you.”
— Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

10) “I love you. Remember. They cannot take it”
— Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Biggest Achievements Of Virat Kohli, The Test Captain

6:50 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

It was the Border Gavaskar trophy of 2014-15. After already losing the test series in the first three matches, team India was tattered and down and the major announcement was yet to come.

MS Dhoni, announced a sudden retirement with a match to go in the series. All this was bound to bring the team’s morale to a new low. But a boy stepped up, Virat Kohli, now a man and the most successful test captain around the globe.

In his first ever test match as captain Virat went after a highly unlikely chase. Although India ended up losing that match but it was the sign of the things to follow.

Here are the 5 things that prove Virat Kohli is the best test Captain India ever had:

1) The truckloads of achievement no one has ever had before.

Virat Kohli after taking the captaincy realm has become the first Indian captain to win a test series in Sri Lanka after 28 long years.

He also is the only Indian captain to lift the test mace for three years in a row. Defeating Australia in Australian and becoming the first captain to whitewash South Africa are just some more feathers to add to Virat Kohli’s legacy.

2) The aggressive approach of Virat Kohli.

Whether you agree or not, Virat’s aggressive nature has paid dividends for him, not only in his batting but also in his captaincy.

Among all the Indian captains Virat has enforced the follow on most no. of times (8). This style of captaincy ensures that the opposition is under pressure all the times and the team already has a mental edge over their opponents.

3) Leading from the front with the bat.

As a captain, Virat leads by example. He scores runs in most difficult times. The statement is very well backed by the numbers as Virat has scored 7 double centuries after becoming the captain, the most by any captain in the world.

He also has scores of 150+ in Australia, South Africa and England.

4) The emergence of pacers under Virat Kohli.

This is indeed the biggest achievement of Virat. Under him, the Indian pace attack of Bumrah, Shami, Ishant and Umesh has improved so much.

Virat has always backed his Pacers, not only overseas but also in home conditions. Indian Pacers have always out bowled their counterparts.

The growth of pacers under Virat Kohli has paved way for team India to go and win overseas.

5) The big and thriving victories.

Team India under Virat completely dominates their opponents. There are no half measures, when the team is on top, they stay on top.

This reflects in team India’s humongous victories as the lowest margin by which they have won at home is 75 runs. See for recent example the victories over SA.

Look at the other captains in world cricket, Faf Du Plessis, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Tim Paine. Virat really stands among them.

Team India has stayed on the top of the world test rankings for quite some time now and due credit must be given to Virat Kohli for taking India to such big heights not only as a batsman but also as a leader.

5 Cricketers Whom Most IPL Teams Wanted In Their Squads

10:50 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has provided a great platform to the Indian young cricketers, not just in terms of earnings but also in regard to the chances of getting exposure of International level. It is true that not everyone will get the chance of playing at International level but these domestic players get to play with Indian as well as foreign international cricketers in the tournament which is highly beneficial for their game. The players in the IPL are selected through auctions and the bid for a cricketer that is made by franchise depends a lot on the talent and skills of the player.

Let us tell you about some of those cricketers for whom many franchise placed bids and they were bought for an exorbitant amount:

1. Yuvraj Singh:

In the year 2015, Yuvraj was not in a good form but due to his big stature, reputation and experience, all the franchises wanted him in their team. Four IPL franchises – Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Daredevils now Delhi Capitals (DC), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) competed heavily to get the left-hander in their squad. In the end, it was the Delhi team which bought Yuvraj Singh for a whopping amount of Rs. 16 crore.

2. Rashid Khan:

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought Rashid Khan in 2017 despite the fact that he was just an 18 years old youngster and paid Rs. 4 crore for him. He justified his selection but still he was not retained the next time and then two IPL franchises, KKIP and RR were quite eager to have him in their team. The bidding war intensified when Delhi also started bidding for Rashid. However, when Rashid’s price reached Rs. 7 crore, the RCB also joined the party and it was Punjab which bought the player for Rs. 9 crore. In the end, SRH decided to use their Right to Match Card and Rashid was the second highest wicket taker in that season.

3. Ben Stokes:

Ben Stokes is one of the best players of all the three formats and in the year 2017, he was the costliest player of IPL. Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) bought Ben Stokes for a huge price of Rs. 14.5 crore and he went on to score 316 runs in 12 matches including a fiery knock of 103 in 63 balls against Gujarat Lions and also took 12 wickets. There were four other teams who wanted him – Daredevils, SRH, RCB and Mumbai Indians (MI). Next year, Ben was bought by RR for Rs. 12.5 crore.

4. Shimron Hetmyer:

The Caribbean player was in great form in 2018 so he was in high demand during the auctions of IPL 2019.  Despite the fact that his base price was just Rs. 50 lakhs, he was bought by RCB for Rs. 4.2 crore. However, it was not just RCB that wanted Shimron in the squad, four other franchises – RR, SRH, DC and KXIP also placed bid for him. Shimron didn’t perform as per the expectations and scored total 90 runs in five matches.

5. MS Dhoni:

Lastly, we will talk about one of the most successful captains and a great player MS Dhoni. India won the T20 World Cup in 2007 under his leadership so it was quite obvious that all the eight franchises wanted him in their team in IPL 2008 but it was Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which got success. CSK spent a huge amount of Rs 10 crore approximately (USD 1.5 million) for getting Dhoni and since then he has always been a part of the team. Dhoni has averaged 42.20 with 4,432 runs in 190 matches and CSK has won the title three times under his guidance.
