There is no denying the fact that the sports world has got adversely affected due to the coronavirus outbreak and many big sporting events have been cancelled or postponed. This was the fifth season of PSL and the Pakistani cricket fans were quite happy as this was the first time that all the matches of the league were slated to be played in Pakistan. But things turned ugly after the coronavirus started spreading and the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it as a pandemic. First PSL was shortened by 4 days and the tournament started losing its sheen when the foreign players began returning to their country, leaving the tournament mid-way as many countries have decided to seal their boundaries.

The number of infected cases in Pakistan has reached to 189, one person has even passed away and the number of patients is increasing on a daily basis. As things start getting worse, the authorities decided to cancel the remaining matches of PSL despite the fact that the semi-finals and final were already scheduled to be played in empty stadiums.

The semi-finals were scheduled to be played at Lahore on March 17; the first semi-final was between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi while Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings were supposed to clash with each other in the second semi-final.

Hassan Ali, the Pakistani cricketer who is playing for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL, took to Twitter in order to thank his fans for the love and support that they have shown during the tournament in the tough times. What’s more, he also made it a point to say that authorities did the right thing as per the situation.

He tweeted, “Of course we all want to play but correct call was made by authorities thanks all fans of @thePSLt20 for love you have shown last few weeks #PSL2020”

Check out the tweet:

While Hassan conveyed his feelings to his fans, another Pakistani cricketer and captain of Islamabad United, Shadab Khan tried to make fun of Hassan for writing a tweet in such good English as Shadab believed that tweet must have been written by Hassan’s wife.

Shadab wrote, “Nice words Bhabi”.

Here is the tweet:

The total number of infected cases all over the world will soon reach the 2 lakh mark whereas the count of persons who have lost their lives has gone above 7,500.

Take precautions and keep safe!
