10 Best Content Based Movies Of 2019 Which Made Us Believe In Bollywood Again

2019 is a year of Bollywood as we Indians got some really great movies this year which will remain in our hearts forever. We rarely get some content-driven films nowadays and the audience loves fiction, not needed action and double meaning humor. But in the world full of nonsensible movies, these films proved that content is still a hero in any film.

1. Uri: The Surgical Strike

Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri is based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian army as a retaliation to the terror attack in Uri which killed 19 weaponless army men. Kaushal received National Award for the Best Actor for this movie. It received critics and audience appreciation and went on to become a commercial hit.

2. Mission Mangal

Multi starrer Mission Mangal is based on a satellite mission which was sent to Mars by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Indian public usually connects with the reality-based movies specially something related to nationalism and making India proud. Mission Mangal also garnered appreciation from the audience and the critics and needless to say even after one month it is running in theatres with ₹286.70 crore already in its account.

3. Kabir Singh

Shahid Kapoor proved himself as one of the most versatile actors of the Bollywood with Kabir Singh. While the film also had to face some feminists’ bashing, its overall reviews were great and it became Shahid’s biggest earner till date.

4. Gully Boy

Gully Boy was first premiered at the Berlin film festival on 9 February 2019. The film narrates the story slum boy Murad Ahmed who aspires to be a rapper. Through rough twist and turns, he manages to sit on the throne of the best rapper and take hip hop to the next level.

5. Section 375

Recently released film Section 375 stars Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha. It is based on Section 375 of Indian Penal Code laws. Section 375 is a critically acclaimed movie. The movie is based on a story of director Rohan Khurrana, who was accused by his female crew member of assaulting her at his residence.

6. Super 30

Another real-life based film which garnered attention and appreciation from the critics and the audience. The film is based on a Bihar mathematician Anand Kumar who had to give up his dream of going to Cambridge University due to poverty. But he makes his own path and starts a study program named Super 30 for the poor kids and help them crack the engineering entrance exams on his own expenses.

7. De De Pyaar De

Akiv Ali’s movie starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. The movie is based on a love triangle between a man, his ex-wife and his girlfriend, who also happens to be his son’s age. While the concept was old and stale, the film had its own freshness and the critics praised the movie and the actors’ performances.

8. Batla House

John Abraham is inspired by the Batla House encounter case, in 2008. John played a police officer who played a crucial role in an encounter but later accused of faking the encounter and killing the innocents. The film was a box office success and critics also applauded it.

9. Article 15

Last year’s National Award winner as the Best Actor, Ayushmann Khurrana delivered one more epic movie based on Article 15 of the Indian constitution. His movie turned millions of eyeballs towards the big issue of the nation that people do not follow this law and some communities still don’t get their equal rights.

10. Photograph

This masterpiece by Ritesh Batra stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles. When the film was announced, people raised questions about the mismatch but after the film was released in several film festivals, it not only garnered good reviews from the critics, the audience loved it too.
