The Indian cricket team started the 3-match ODI series against England in a grand manner as it registered one of the biggest victories in ODIs and a major credit goes to the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Boom Boom Bumrah was literally unplayable in yesterday’s match as he dismissed 6 English batters and played an important role in wrapping up the hosts for just 110 which is their lowest score ever in ODIs.

The English batting line up looked pretty strong with the likes of test skipper Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root joining the ODI squad but even these successful batters who clinched victory  in the fifth rescheduled test match from India were not able to do anything in front of superb bowling by the Indian bowlers. How lethal the Indian bowlers were, especially Bumrah, can be understood by the fact that four English batters were not even able to open their account. After the English innings, Jasprit Bumrah’s figures read 6/19 which is the best till date against England by an Indian bowler, earlier it was in the name of Ashish Nehra (6/24) who achieved it in a match in the 2003 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Jason Roy, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone for duck along with Jonny Bairstow (7), David Willey (21) and Brydon Carse (15) and it was quite obvious that he was adjudged as the Player of the Match. Bumrah’s great performance also motivated Mohammed Shami who dismissed 3 batters for 31 runs in his 7 overs.

The highest scorer for England was Jos Buttler who scored 30 runs in 32 deliveries and his innings included 6 fours.

As Jasprit Bumrah tore into the English batting lineup, the Indian Twitterati was ecstatic and fans made no delay in expressing their excitement on the micro-blogging site. Check out some of the selected reactions:

While the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision of bowling first was proved correct by his bowlers, he himself used this opportunity to get back in form. The Indian squad had to score 111 runs in 50 overs in order to win the match which it did in just 18.4 overs without losing any wicket as the openers Rohit Sharma (76* runs, 58 balls, 7 fours & 5 sixes) and Shikhar Dhawan (31* runs, 54 balls, 4 fours) ensured that they took their team home as the winner.

The second ODI will be played tomorrow at Lord’s and the visitors will certainly like to win it to seal the ODI series as well after winning the T20I series.
