“If Hindi Isn’t National Language, Why Dub Kannada Films,” Ajay Devgn Responds To Kiccha Sudeep

There has been a considerable change in the Indian film industry as in recent past, few south Indian movies (Baahubali, Pushpa, RRR, KGF 2, etc.) have performed well in the Hindi speaking states too and even Hindi flicks have not been able to compete with them in the Hindi-speaking belt of the country.

The southern movie directors are dubbing their films in Hindi and releasing them all over the country. The latest flick on this list is Yash starrer KGF 2 which has broken many records on the box-office. While many movie actors and celebs praised KGF 2, the famous Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep gave birth to a controversy while showering praises on the film.

During a media interaction while answering a question, Kiccha Sudeep states that everyone is saying a Kannada movie is made on a pan-India level but he wants to make correction which is that Hindi is not a national language at all. He adds that Bollywood filmmakers are producing many pan-India movies and they are getting released in Tamil and Telugu but it doesn’t mean that they are hit. He goes on to say that the flicks which are being made by southern directors are getting watched all over the world.

An online user posted the video of Kiccha Sudeep with the caption, “Kannada Actor @KicchaSudeep said, ‘correct it, Hindi is no more the National Language, it’s no more a National language”! In a film launch & a huge applause from the crowd & the media. Hope the efforts of Kannada activists are reaching the intended places. #stopHindiImposition”.

The Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has responded on this matter with a tweet in Hindi in which he asks Kiccha Sudeep that if he feels Hindi is not our national language, why he releases the movies made in his mother tongue in Hindi in dubbed version. Ajay also writes in his tweet that for him, Hindi was always his mother tongue and national language and will always be.

Soon Kiccha Sudeep reacted on the tweet of Ajay Devgn and clarified that the context in which he said that was completely different from what Ajay has got and he will surely make his side clear when he will meet him in person. He also added that he never wanted to start a debate or provoke someone. Kiccha Sudeep’s tweet read, “Hello @ajaydevgn sir.. the context to why I said that line is entirely different to the way I guess it has reached you. Probably will emphasis on why the statement was made when I see you in person. It wasn’t to hurt, Provoke or to start any debate. Why would I sir”.

In another tweet, Kiccha Sudeep also makes it clear that he loves and respects every language and this topic should come to rest now. He tweeted, “I love and respect every language of our country sir. I would want this topic to rest, as I said the line in a totally different context. Much love and wishes to you always. Hoping to seeing you soon.”

However in one tweet, Kiccha Sudeep told Ajay Devgn that he understood the tweet made by him which was in Hindi because they all have respected, loved and learnt Hindi but what would have happened if his response had been in Kannada. In the end, he also asked whether they all don’t belong to India. He tweeted, “And sir @ajaydevgn, I did understand the txt you sent in Hindi. Tats only coz we all have respected, loved and learnt Hindi. No offense sir, but was wondering what’d the situation be if my response was typed in Kannada!! Don’t we too belong to India sir.”

Now the senior Bollywood actor-director Ajay Devgn has also responded as he thanks the southern actor for clearing the misunderstanding and also adds that he respects all the languages too and expects the same from others. Ajay Devgn also felt that there was something which got lost in translation. Ajay tweeted, “Hi @KicchaSudeep , You are a friend. Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. I’ve always thought of the film industry as one.  We respect all languages and we expect everyone to respect our language as well. Perhaps, something was lost in translation”.

The matter got closed after Kiccha Sudeep tweeted, “Translation & interpretations are perspectives sir. Tats the reason not reacting without knowing the complete matter, matters. 🙂 I don’t blame you @ajaydevgn sir. Perhaps it would have been a happy moment if I had received a tweet from you for a creative reason. Luv & Regards”

This debate has been going on for a long time now but things should be settled just like these two stars have done. What do you say?
