IPL Franchises DC, RR & KKR Reacted With Memes As Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp Faced Outage
Social media networks have become a very important part of our lives and now they also play a vital role in one of the biggest sporting events of the world, i.e., the Indian Premier League (IPL). As the IPL 2021 is all set to start from April 9, the franchises are attracting fans and increasing their excitement by sharing updates, memes, conducting polls, etc.
However, the world came to a standstill when the messaging platform WhatsApp, photo sharing app Instagram and social networking site Facebook stopped working on the night of March 19 at around 10:45 PM. The online users were confused as to what happened and many of them rebooted their mobile phone thinking that there was something wrong with them. Many users also logged into the micro-blogging site Twitter in order to find out what wrong happened with those platforms and soon Twitter was flooded with memes and jokes. The services of these three apps were restored after 45 minutes, though the reason behind it is still not known.
The IPL franchises also decided to have some fun at the expense of these social media apps and Shah Rukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders uploaded a meme in which their spinner Varun Chakravarthy is seen with a confused look. The tweet was captioned, “Mood when you find out WhatsApp and Instagram both are down”.

Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals, the finalist of the IPL 2020, also took a dig at the social media platforms by tweeting, “Any IPL team online? Let’s talk” with a crying emoji.

Rajasthan Royals may have not been able to make an impact on the field in the league for the past few years but its social media handle is certainly a hit among the fans. RR also tried to get in touch with WhatsApp but failed as it tweeted, “Hey @WhatsApp, u der?”
