The Indian movie lovers have two movies to watch and get entertained this weekend – “Panipat” and “Pati, Patni Aur Woh”. The star cast of “Panipat” includes Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Bahl, Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure, etc. while “Pati, Patni Aur Woh” features Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles.

Here is an honest review of both the movies:

Panipat

Plot:

Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, the movie is about the third battle of Panipat which was fought on 14th January, 1761, between the brave and courageous Marathas led by Sadashiv Rao Bhau and ferocious Afghani invaders under the leadership of Ahmad Shah Abdali.

Performances:

Since the launch of the trailer, the comparisons were drawn among “Panipat”, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Padmavat”. Obviously, the actors were also getting compared and sadly for “Panipat”, Arjun Kapoor lacked the skills and intensity to portray the character of Sadashiv Rao Bhau in an impeccable manner. Arjun Kapoor has failed to create an emotional connect despite the fact that he tried a lot to fit into the character but his preparation was still not up to the mark.

On the other hand, Kriti Sanon was just fine in the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau’s wife Parvati Bai but the show has been stolen by Sanjay Dutt. He did full justice to his character and not just by the dialogues, he also did a lot of talking with his fierce eyes.

The supporting cast of “Panipat” performed well but the movie did not fulfill the expectations as the makers failed to create a larger than life picture. Talking about music, music directors Ajay-Atul have not been able to attract the audiences with their compositions.

Verdict:

“Panipat” is certainly one-time watch but don’t expect the flick to have the same effect as “Bajirao Mastani” or “Padmavat”. We give a rating of 2.5 out of 5 to the movie.

Pati, Patni Aur Woh

Plot

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, “Pati, Patni Aur Woh” is a remake of 1978 release of the same name which starred legendary actor Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur. The story is about a couple who is enjoying their married life but things change completely when a young girl comes in the life of the husband and he starts spinning a web to impress the girl.

While Kartik Aaryan plays the two characters of husband and lover in a good manner, Bhumi also impresses in the role of a strong woman and wife who has no problem in speaking about s@x. Ananya is just one movie old but there is an improvement in her acting; however, a lot still needs to be learnt as of now.

There is no doubt that Ananya’s glamour adds flavour to the film but Aparshakti Khurana is the one who brings a smile on the faces of audiences whenever he comes on the screen. The “Stree” actor plays the character of Kartik’s friend who not only helps Kartik but also warns him of the consequences. What’s more, his dialogue delivery is certainly awesome. The music of the movie is mostly about the remixes and has been liked by viewers.

Verdict:

There is nothing new as far as the story is concerned but “Pati, Patni Aur Woh” should be watched for the performances of the actors. We give 3 out of 5 to the movie.
