“Virat Can Single-Handedly Win World Cups,” Ex India Selector On Kapil Dev’s ‘Drop Kohli’ Remark

The former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev created a storm when he said that Virat Kohli should be dropped from the team as there are many young in-form cricketers who are performing well. Though there were many who were demanding Kohli’s ouster earlier as well yet these voices got strengthened after Kapil Dev’s comments.

The former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is going through very tough times as far as his career is concerned since he hasn’t scored a century in the last 3 years across any format plus he has disappointed in the fifth rescheduled test match along with T20I series against England too. On the other hand, the young Indian cricketer Deepak Hooda is in a great form; he not only scored a century against Ireland but also played good cricket in the first T20I against England but he was dropped from the playing XI for making place for Virat Kohli.

Kapil Dev is of the opinion that if Ravichandran Ashwin who is world number 2 test bowler can be benched then why a batsman who used to be number one can’t be made to sit outside if he is not performing well for a long time. The legendary Indian cricketer under whose leadership India has won its first World Cup states that those players should be played who are in good form and a player just can’t play because of his reputation.

Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Venkatesh Prasad also tweeted on the same lines and the latter was of the opinion that an out-of-form player should go back to the domestic level as it used to happen in the older times.

There are many people from the Indian cricket fraternity who are standing in support of Virat Kohli and recently the former Indian cricketer and selector Sarandeep Singh extended his support to the former RCB skipper.

While giving an interview, Sarandeep Singh says that Virat Kohli shouldn’t be dropped from the team because his potential is not hidden from anyone and he has the capability to win the World Cups single-handedly for his team. Sarandeep questions as to what efforts are being made by the selectors in order to find the problems faced by Kohli in batting and why he is given so much of rest.

Sarandeep Singh further expresses his unhappiness over the selection method as he feels it is illogical. He adds that Virat Kohli plays one series and then he is sent for rest and then he plays another series. In his opinion, Virat Kohli should play all the matches because that is the way to get his form back.

Whom do you support, Kapil Dev or Sarandeep Singh? Let us know your views in regard to the whole episode.

Jos Buttler Gets Irked When Journo Repeatedly Asks “Is Jasprit Bumrah The Best?” Video Goes Viral

The Indian cricket team will certainly look forward to win the second ODI against England and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series as it is already leading by 1-0 in the series. India won the first ODI which was played at The Oval by 10 wickets and a major credit of this win goes to the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah who took 6 wickets and played an important role in wrapping up the English side for just 110 runs. Amazingly, four English batters were not able to open their accounts and out of these four, three (Jason Roy, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone) were dismissed by Bumrah.

The manner in which Jasprit Bumrah bowled, many former cricketers and the former English cricketer Nasser Hussain (while doing commentary) went on to say that Bumrah is the best bowler of the world in all the three formats in the present times. Hussain also said that there may be challengers such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Trent Boult and Jofra Archer when he is fit but at the moment Jasprit Bumrah is the best.

Talking about Bumrah, Nasser Hussain stated that the Indian pacer’s bowling in the match was just high class and many of his deliveries were absolutely unplayable. He adds that because of Bumrah’s unusual bowling action and run-up, the ball comes at the batter as a thunderbolt and one more thing that is very good about Bumrah is that he not only swings both ways but he is quick too. The legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also holds the same opinion about Jasprit Bumrah as Nasser Hussain.

After the first ODI, the English skipper Jos Buttler who was the highest scorer (30) for his team attended the press conference and talked about various issues including his team’s performance in the first ODI. Usually, Jos Buttler is a very calm and cool person but during the press conference he seems to have got irritated with a journalist who repeatedly asks him whether he agrees that Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler across all the formats in the present times.

When journalist asks Jos Buttler to comment on Nasser Hussain’s statement, Jos Buttler says that there are second thoughts about Bumrah being a fantastic bowler who has been a leading bowler for many years now and it seems that he is getting better by each day. Buttler adds that this is the great challenge of playing against the Indian cricket team as we get to face such good cricketers and that is why a cricketer wants to play international cricket because one gets opportunities to challenge himself to the extreme. Talking about Bumrah, Buttler says that there are no doubts Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best and he and his team are looking forward to face him on Thursday.

However, the journalist does not appear to be satisfied with the answer and he once again asks Buttler whether Bumrah is one of the best or the best. Jos Buttler gets a little irked and responds with a two-word answer, “You Decide”.

As far as the match is concerned, India won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami shared 9 wickets between them and dismissed England for just 110 runs which is their lowest score ever in ODIs. India successfully chased the target without losing a wicket as skipper Rohit Sharma (76*) and Shikhar Dhawan (31*) made sure that they take their team home as the winner.

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged as the Player of the Match which was quite obvious as his figures read 6/19 and hopefully, he will once again trouble the English batters in the second ODI which is going to be played today at the Lords’.

Fraudsters Organized Fake IPL, Turned Farm Into Stadium & Duped Russian Punters Of Rs 3 Lakh

The Indian Premier League is certainly one of the biggest tournaments of the world and many times the Indian police has caught people betting on the matches but what do you say about those people who organized a tournament like IPL with such perfection that even Russian punters placed bet on the matches.

Representatioanl Image

As per the reports, the incident took place in Molipur village, Vadnagar taluka of Mehsana district where a person named Shoeb Davda played an important role in executing the plan. Shoeb returned to the village after working in Russian pubs for 8 months which were famous for taking bets, he took the farm of Ghulam Masih on rent  and made it look like cricket ground, installed halogen lights, hired 21 labourers for playing cricket on the promise of Rs. 400/match. Not just this, Shoeb Davda hired a cameraman, bought T-shirts of IPL teams such as Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, etc. and also hired a person for the purpose of mimicking commentator Harsha Bhogle.

The matches were aired on YouTube and they also arranged for fake crowd noises during the match. Shoeb Davda told the police that he met a person Asif Mohammed while he was working in Russian pub and it was Asif who made the whole plan. The other people involved in this plan were Sadiq Davda, Saqib, Saifi and Mohammed Kolu and one of them even acted as umpire in the fake matches.

The police official told that the bets were taken by Shoeb who then instructed Mohammed Kolu (umpire) to either signal a four or six and then the bowler used to throw a slow delivery so that the batsman could hit the shot for four or six. Then cameraman used to shift the focus towards the sky to show that ball was seen nowhere in the sky and then focus was shifted towards umpire who used to signal a four or a six.

Representational Image

The bets were made on a Telegram channel and everything was going fine for them as they had played quarter finals and earned Rs. 3 lakh by then. However, police busted this scam and four people have been arrested till now in relation to this case.

What is more surprising is the fact the people who were running fake IPL tournament in Gujarat were running a similar fake league in Uttar Pradesh as well. This fake cricket league was running by the name of “Big Boss T20 Punjab League”, the matches were played in Meerut and the bets were getting placed on the mobile app Cric Heroes.  The investigation revealed that Asif Mohammed who had been mentioned earlier was coordinating with a person Ashoke Chaudhary for running this fake league in UP.

Representational Image

One difference in both the leagues was that in Gujarat they were showing as if they were playing IPL while in Uttar Pradesh, the players were introduced as Ranji Trophy cricketers.

Here are some Twitter reactions:

This is certainly quite surprising that someone can even think of faking a cricket tournament like IPL. We are sure that some filmmaker must be thinking of making a movie on this topic just like “Special 26”. What do you say?

Sanjana Brutally Trolls England With ‘Crispy Duck’ After Bumrah’s Fiery Performance In ODI

The England cricket team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Indian squad in the first ODI of the 3-match series which was played yesterday at The Oval. The toss was won by the visitors and they chose to bowl first which was certainly the best decision as the Indian bowlers bowled out the English team for just 110 runs in 25.2 overs.

The top scorer for England was the skipper Jos Buttler who scored 30 runs before falling prey to Mohammed Shami. For India, it was Jasprit Bumrah who took the most number of wickets (6/19) and out of these six, three batsmen (Jason Roy, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone) were dismissed for duck. One more English batsman who got out for duck was Ben Stokes and his wicket was taken by Mohammed Shami.

While Jasprit Bumrah was making lives of the English batters hell on the ground, his wife Sanjana Ganesan who is a very famous sports journalist was trolling the English batters on television. Sanjana took the viewers to the food stalls area where she talked about a food stall titled as ‘Crispy Duck’ and said, “We’ve come to a stall that not a lot of English batters would like to come to. It’s called the ‘Crispy Duck’. We’ve got a duck wrap is, and we will see how good the duck off-the-field is. Because the ducks on the field have been absolutely fantastic.”

The Sony Sports Network posted the video with the caption, “While our bowlers bagged some duckss on the field, @SanjanaGanesan ‘wrap’ped up some ducks off the field at #TheOval”.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 76* and he was well supported by Shikhar Dhawan who scored 31* and both of them ensured that their team won the match without losing any wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged as the Player of the Match and some former cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar and Nasser Hussain got so impressed with him that they declared Jasprit Bumrah the best pacer of the present times across all the formats.

That was quite good trolling by Sanjana Ganesan! What do you say?

Jasprit Bumrah’s Funny Response To A Journo’s “6 Years Ago” Query Leaves Everyone In Splits

The Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all over social media, print media and electronic media as of now because of his superb performance in the first ODI of the 3-match series against England. The match was played at The Oval and after winning the toss, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bow first. His decision was justified by his pacers, especially Jasprit Bumrah who dismissed 6 English batsmen and gave away just 19 runs. It was the best performance of any Indian bowler against England as the previous record was in the name of Ashish Nehra whose figures read 6/24 in a 2003 World Cup match. Mohammed Shami gave full support to Jasprit Bumrah as he took 3 wickets and gave away only 31 runs.

The English team could manage only 110 runs on the score board which was chased successfully by the Indian openers Rohit Sharma (76*) and Shikhar Dhawan (31*) as India won the match by 10 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah who was adjudged as the Player of the Match also appeared in the post-match press conference and answered many questions related to the match, his performance and the team’s victory. However, what caught people’s attention the most was the answer which Jasprit Bumrah gave in response to the question asked by a journalist.

The journalist says that he interviewed Bumrah six years ago and his confidence was the same as it is today. The Indian pacer gives a funny response as he says that he doesn’t remember what he said six years ago. He further adds that he likes to live in the present and focuses most on his own preparation and evaluations because there is a lot of noise and it can create confusion in one’s mind. Jasprit Bumrah goes on to say that he does everything that is in his control such as working hard and keeping a check on his fitness and diet because of which he can accept his results easily. He adds that he has tried to maintain consistency which also helps him in maintaining stability.

“Go Back To Domestic Cricket,” Legendry Indian Wicketkeeper Speaks On Virat Kohli’s Form

The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli who is touted as one of the greatest of all times by his fans is going through a lean patch for quite a long time now as the last time he scored a century was in 2019 and in the recent outings also, he failed to make an impact with the bat. Fans were very hopeful that in the fifth rescheduled test match, Virat Kohli’s century drought would come to an end but he once again failed and in the T20Is against England, he performed miserably as well.

Though the skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid are standing strongly behind Virat Kohli, now many former cricketers and experts have started demanding his exclusion from the team because there are many in-form youngsters who are waiting for getting a place in the national team. It was being said that ODIs will be the best chance for Virat Kohli to regain his touch because in ODIs, he will get time to settle down on the pitch and then he may start scoring which is not the case in T20Is as a batsman needs to start hitting from the very start in the shortest format. However unfortunately for Virat Kohli, he suffered groin injury and was ruled out of the first ODI against England. The bigger problem is that Virat Kohli has already made himself unavailable for the West Indies tour where India will be playing 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is, so now he needs to perform well in the remaining 2 ODIs against England otherwise things will get very difficult for him from here.

The legendary former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Syed Kirmani has now opened up on this matter as he states that the competition is huge at the moment with so many youngsters ready to prove their talent. He further says that if a player, irrespective of his experience and reputation, is not able to perform well for some innings, the selectors should ask him to play in domestic cricket, make some runs and get his confidence back and then the selectors should think about his comeback in the team. Syed Kirmani says that he is not able to understand why this is not applicable to Virat Kohli.

The former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad also tweeted on the same lines after Virat Kohli failed to perform in the third T20I against England.

However, Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has come out in support of Virat Kohli as he states that the former skipper may not be in form as of now but has performed well so many times and has played so many match-winning innings that he should be supported at the moment. Amit Mishra further adds that Virat is a match-winner and has risen to the occasion in the difficult situations when the team needed him. He is of the opinion that sometimes even the seniors also need backing so we should not lose faith and confidence in Virat Kohli.

Whose views do you support in relation to Virat Kohli – Syed Kirmani or Amit Mishra? Let us know your pick.

“Jasprit Bumrah Is Unplayable,” Twitter Lauds Bumrah’s 6-Wicket Haul Against England

The Indian cricket team started the 3-match ODI series against England in a grand manner as it registered one of the biggest victories in ODIs and a major credit goes to the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Boom Boom Bumrah was literally unplayable in yesterday’s match as he dismissed 6 English batters and played an important role in wrapping up the hosts for just 110 which is their lowest score ever in ODIs.

The English batting line up looked pretty strong with the likes of test skipper Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root joining the ODI squad but even these successful batters who clinched victory  in the fifth rescheduled test match from India were not able to do anything in front of superb bowling by the Indian bowlers. How lethal the Indian bowlers were, especially Bumrah, can be understood by the fact that four English batters were not even able to open their account. After the English innings, Jasprit Bumrah’s figures read 6/19 which is the best till date against England by an Indian bowler, earlier it was in the name of Ashish Nehra (6/24) who achieved it in a match in the 2003 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Jason Roy, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone for duck along with Jonny Bairstow (7), David Willey (21) and Brydon Carse (15) and it was quite obvious that he was adjudged as the Player of the Match. Bumrah’s great performance also motivated Mohammed Shami who dismissed 3 batters for 31 runs in his 7 overs.

The highest scorer for England was Jos Buttler who scored 30 runs in 32 deliveries and his innings included 6 fours.

As Jasprit Bumrah tore into the English batting lineup, the Indian Twitterati was ecstatic and fans made no delay in expressing their excitement on the micro-blogging site. Check out some of the selected reactions:

While the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision of bowling first was proved correct by his bowlers, he himself used this opportunity to get back in form. The Indian squad had to score 111 runs in 50 overs in order to win the match which it did in just 18.4 overs without losing any wicket as the openers Rohit Sharma (76* runs, 58 balls, 7 fours & 5 sixes) and Shikhar Dhawan (31* runs, 54 balls, 4 fours) ensured that they took their team home as the winner.

The second ODI will be played tomorrow at Lord’s and the visitors will certainly like to win it to seal the ODI series as well after winning the T20I series.
