CSK Takes A Satirical Jibe At Sanjay Manjrekar’s Ouster From BCCI Commentary Panel

Sanjay Manjrekar, the former cricketer turned commentator, is going through a tough time as he has been sacked by the BCCI and he won’t be a part of the IPL commentary panel as well. As per the sources, the board decided to show doors to Sanjay Manjrekar as they were not happy with his work and few unnecessary controversies which were started by Manjrekar could have also played an important role in his dismissal from the commentary box.

Sanjay was a right-handed batsman who played for India from 1987 till 1996 and during this period, he played 37 test matches and 74 ODIs. The number of centuries scored by him is 5 while the total number of International runs that he scored is 4037.

Sanjay Manjrekar has a history of getting trolled and he was trolled maximum when he called Ravindra Jadeja a “bits and pieces” cricketer. This aggravated many cricket fans and they slammed Sanjay Manjrekar badly. Later Ravindra Jadeja also responded and told Manjrekar that he had enough of his verbal diarrhea and the latter should respect those who have achieved more than him.

After the news of Manjrekar’s sacking got public, the Indian Twitterati had a field day and even the official Twitter handle of the IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided to have some fun by taking a satirical dig at Manjrekar in regard to his tweet that he made for Jadeja.

CSK tweeted,

“Need not hear the audio feed in bits and pieces anymore.”

Twitter didn’t miss this opportunity of taking a dig at Sanjay Manjrekar once again and this is how netizens reacted:

Ravindra Jadeja has been a part of CSK since 2012 but for two years 2016-17, he was a member of Gujarat Lions as CSK was suspended from the tournament for 2 years.

Sanjay Manjrekar was badly slammed once again when he taunted Harsha Bhogle citing his non-cricketing career.

Are you happy with Sanjay Manjrekar’s dismissal from the commentary box or will you miss him? Let us know your views.

Latest Update On IPL 2020 – BCCI Provides 5 Potential Dates To Start The Tournament

One of the biggest cricketing events of the world, Indian Premier League which was supposed to start on March 29 has been postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus scare. Earlier, it was heard that it may start on its scheduled date but it will be a TV-only event and all the matches will be played in empty stadiums. However, the IPL franchises were not ready to play without foreign players and this would not have been possible as the Indian government has cancelled the visas of foreign nationals till April 15.

On March 14, a meeting took place in order to make some decisions regarding the IPL 2020 and this meeting was attended by the top officials of BCCI including Sourav Ganguly, the IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel and the representatives of all the eight IPL franchises.

Currently, the IPL franchises have been provided with five dates on which the IPL may start and these are – April 15, April 21, April 25, May 1 and May 5.

The IPL is a big tournament as eight teams take part in it and in the league stage, each team plays against the other seven teams twice, once at their home ground and second at the other team’s home ground. This is why, the authorities have made it clear to the franchises that conducting the tournament after April 25 might not be possible.

The option of curtailing the tournament is also available and for this, the concept of playing twice will be reduced to once. As per an official, in 2009, the IPL was conducted in South Africa and the whole tournament was played in a time period of 37 days. In SA also, each team played the other team once only. The official also said that dividing the teams into groups is also an option but no franchise is ready for it as some important clashes will get missed then.

BCCI and the IPL authorities will have a tough time in conducting the IPL this time as so many restrictions have been imposed in order to save people from coronavirus but it is also true that there is nothing more important than a human life. What do you say?

Shane Warne Trolled For Tagging Many But Not Sourav Ganguly To Ask About IPL Postponement

Many sporting events such as NBA, ATP Tour, Road Safety World Series, etc. around the world are either getting cancelled or postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and Indian Premier League (IPL) is also one of them. The thirteenth edition of IPL was scheduled to commence from March 29 but now it has been postponed till 15 April 2020. This big decision was taken recently in the meeting which was attended by the top officials of BCCI including the President Sourav Ganguly.

Earlier, it was speculated that IPL 2020 will be a TV-only event and it will be played in empty stadiums but the IPL franchises were not ready to go ahead without the foreign players. No foreign national can arrive in India as of now as the Indian government has cancelled the visas of foreign nationals till 15th April 2020. This is certainly a big blow for the cricket fans all over the world but at present, keeping everyone safe from coronavirus is a bigger concern.

Shane Warne, the former Australian cricketer, also got to hear about the latest development regarding IPL 2020 and he took to the micro-blogging site Twitter in order to confirm the news. The former skipper of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals tagged many cricketers, such as Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Ricky Ponting, and many more along with the Twitter handles of RR, IPL and BCCI.

Shane Warne’s tweet read, “Another question followers as I just received a very interesting message !!!! Is it true the @BCCI are postponing the @IPL @imVkohli @MichaelVaughan @KP24 @virendersehwag @rajasthanroyals @StarSportsIndia @ajinkyarahane88 @Edged_and_taken @imkuldeep18 @BCCIdomestic @RickyPonting”

Here is the tweet:

As soon as Shane Warne made this tweet, Indian Twitterati started trolling him for the fact that he tagged so many people but didn’t ask this question to the person who actually has the power to take all the decisions regarding IPL. We are talking about the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

On the other hand, some Twitter users slammed Shane Warne for not talking about sporting events which also got cancelled but being worried for cash-rich league IPL.

Shane Warne was the captain of Rajasthan Royals which won the first edition of IPL in 2008. However, RR has not been able to repeat its success till now and its performances in the recent past have been quite disappointing.

What do you have to say about Shane Warne’s tweet?

Ranveer and Deepika are among the most loved couples of B-Town and they don’t shy away from showing their love for each other. They both will be seen together in Kabir Khan’s “83” in which Ranveer Singh is playing the character of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev while Deepika will be essaying the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. Ranveer will also be seen in “Jayeshbhai Jordaar” which will hit theatres on October 2, 2020.

Deepika Padukone’s last movie “Chhapaak” didn’t perform well at the box-office despite the fact that it was based on a very important issue which was related with crimes against women. In “Chhapaak”, Deepika played the character of an acid-attack survivor and the film was directed by Meghna Gulzar. Other than “83”, Deepika will be seen in an untitled movie which will be directed by Shakun Batra and will also star Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.

BCCI Has Sacked Sanjay Manjrekar From Its Commentary Panel, Twitter Is Loving It

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar who turned commentator after getting retired from International cricket is mostly in news for wrong reasons and now he is again making headlines as the Board for Control of Cricket In India (BCCI) has sacked him from the panel of commentators. The former right-handed batsman has been one of the most controversial commentators and he can easily be called a favourite target of the Indian Twitterati.

Sanjay Manjrekar was not seen in Dharamsala where India was supposed to play the first ODI of the series against South Africa; however, the match got abandoned due to rain. It is also being said that Manjrekar won’t be a part of the panel in IPL as well because BCCI is not pleased with the manner in which he has been working.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s career started in 1987 and it was in 1996 that he took retirement. He has been doing commentary in almost every World Cup since 1999. In the year 2000, Manjrekar joined TEN Network and he did commentary in many series but in 2009, he shifted to Star Sports Network during the ICC T20 World Cup which was hosted by England.

Sanjay Manjrekar has been a part of many controversies including the one in which he called Indian player Ravindra Jadeja a “bits and pieces” cricketer and he was trolled badly for this. Jadeja also replied and asked him to stop his verbal diarrhea and respect those who have achieved more than him.

Some time ago, he was again in the center of a controversy when he passed a comment on Harsha Bhogle’s  non-cricketing background.

The Indian Twitterati got enough fodder as they heard the news of Manjrekar getting sacked and here are some of the selected reactions:

Wriddhiman Saha Speaks Up On Management’s Decision To Choose Rishabh Pant Over Him For NZ Tests

There is no denying the fact that MS Dhoni is one of the best wicketkeepers that India has ever produced and if there is anyone else who can replace him in wicket-keeping, it has to be Wriddhiman Saha.

He is a great wicketkeeper and even Indian skipper Virat Kohli has also accepted that Saha is the best Indian wicketkeeper at the moment but still what troubled every cricket fan was the fact that the Bengal cricketer was not included in the playing eleven for the two test matches that were played against New Zealand. Saha performed wonderfully in the tests played at home and everyone was of the opinion that he would be the one who would keep wickets in New Zealand as well but to everyone’s surprise, Saha was replaced by Rishabh Pant.

Wriddhiman Saha was a part of the Bengal team that played Ranji Trophy final against Saurashtra at Rajkot. The 35 years old cricketer played a solid innings of 64 runs for which he played 184 balls but that was not enough to save his team from the defeat.

After the match, Saha was asked by the interviewer as to how tough it was for him to sit on the bench in the New Zealand test series. He said that usually a player gets to know about the team when the management takes the decision on the batting order but he came to know about it when he reached there. He said that it is true there is a hope of playing the match as you played the last one but a player has to abide by the decision taken by the management based on the assessment of the conditions.

Rishabh Pant was inducted into the team after Saha got injured and the former batted well in Australia and England. While Saha has an average of 30 in test matches, the average of Rishabh Pant before the start of the test series in New Zealand was 40. Despite the fact that Wriddhiman Saha played brilliantly at home, Rishabh Pant was still called back for tests in the New Zealand tour as his batting was certainly better than Saha.

When Saha was asked whether the team management is thinking of playing him at home and Pant in overseas, Saha made it clear that he has not been conveyed about any such decision. He also said that if the management decides to play Rishabh, he will be fine with that as he only wants his team to win. Saha made it clear that for him, the team comes first and his individual choices come afterwards.
