“In Beginning, I Wasn’t Very Happy Doing Ramayan As I Lost Many Film Projects,” Says Sunil Lahri

The popular TV show Ramayan which is based on the life journey of Lord Ram is breaking all the records of viewership as it has been declared the most watched entertainment show globally. On 16th April 2020, it garnered 7.7 crores views which is pretty high in comparison to the highest viewership received by other shows including the American TV shows as well.

Actor Sunil Lahri who played the role of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan is very happy with the response that the show is getting. He said that many people are saying Doordarshan has been revived by Ramayan. Sunil recalled the old memories as he shared that the first thing that he can think of is the craziness of people for the serial and the characters. He told that people used to respect them by touching their feet whenever they see them at public places.

Sunil revealed that the response was not good in the beginning when Ramayan was telecasted in 1987, but after 6 or 7 episodes, people started getting mad for the serial. He feels that viewers got pretty strongly attracted towards the emotions of Ramayan and felt connected to it and even today, they are feeling the same.

Sunil Lahri further added that Ramayan did have a manufacturing date but it doesn’t have an expiry date and the response will be great even if it is re-run after 10-15 years. As per him, no matter how much modern we Indians get but we are still connected to our roots.

Talking about his personal choices, he said that he was not happy working in Ramayan in the initial stages because he lost many movies because of that. However, he admits that he is happy now as his work has been loved, respected and recognized today, more than the time when the show was telecasted for the first time.

In response to the question whether he got stereotyped, he said that though some similar roles were offered to him that he denied, he didn’t get stereotyped. He further said that in his younger days, his personality did not suit mythological roles so many people were surprised when he played the character of Lakshman very well. Sunil Lahri also revealed that he was working in few action, romantic and musical movies as well at that time but they flopped.

He also said that when he stopped getting good roles, he focused on production and advertising business so that he didn’t face survival issues. According to him, the industry people don’t care about the fact that how you are as an actor and what matters more for them is whether your movie worked on the box-office or not. In the end, he said that he will do only those roles which he feels he can justify.

Irfan Trolls Yusuf Pathan During Instagram Live Chat, Asks What Salary He Is Getting For This

The cricketers don’t have the option of working from home so now social media networks have become their new playing grounds and they are utilizing them properly by carrying out #AskMe sessions, Instagram live chats and also by requesting their fans and followers to remain indoors in order to save themselves from the coronavirus pandemic.

The Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan also chatted live with a cricket portal recently and talked about many things including his IPL stint.  For majority part of IPL, Yusuf was with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and was also a part of the team when KKR won IPL twice; however for the first three years of IPL (2008-10), he was with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and he was full of praises for the former Australian cricketer Shane Warne.

Shane Warne was the skipper of Rajasthan Royals when the team won the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008 and as per Yusuf, only a captain like Shane Warne has the capability to win the tournament with such limited resources. Yusuf added that at that time, there were not many big international players in RR but Shane not only took the team to the final but also won the tournament.

During this live session, Yusuf Pathan’s younger brother also made an appearance as he made a comment in which he asked Yusuf how much salary he is getting for the live chat with cricket portal. This funny comment by the younger brother made the fans laugh out loud.

Here is the comment:

Yusuf and Irfan both have played for India and many times played important roles in the team’s victory. What’s more, nowadays they are also making TikTok videos for entertaining their fans and recently, Irfan became a hair-stylist for his brother and father as the hair saloons are closed due to the lockdown.

Pujara Recalls How Australian Cricketers’ Sledging Made Them Win The Thrilling Bengaluru Test

The Indian cricketers are passing their lockdown period by indulging in Instagram live sessions with another cricketers and talking about the past memories and incidents. Recently, Indian cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin chatted live and they also talked about the four-match series which was played between India and Australia.

Under the captaincy of Steve Smith, the Australian team won the first test match which was played at Pune and they were too eager to win the second test match as well that was played at Bengaluru. The Indians were already under a lot of pressure as they needed a win to remain alive in the series; however, things were not in favour as the Virat Kohli led side was all out for a small score of 189 in the first innings. Australian bowler Nathon Lyon tore apart the Indian batting lineup as he took 8 wickets. On the other hand, Australians managed to score 276 runs in their first innings.

Cheteshwar Pujara recalled the old times and said that after losing the first test match, the team sat together and talked as it was not easy to make a comeback after the opposition took a lead of 1-0 in the four-test match series. He further said that after the first innings, Anil Kumble who was the head coach at that time talked to him and told him how to deal with Nathon Lyon. Pujara also revealed that he went to the National Cricket Academy and worked on few shortcomings.

Cheteshwar Pujara further said that he still felt the pressure when he went to bat in the second innings and the manner in which Australians were sledging, it felt as if they were thinking that they had already won the match. He also said that the sledging that he and Ajinkya Rahane faced from the Australians when they were coming to the dressing room during the tea time must have changed the course of the game.

Pujara meant that the sledging from the Australians made their resolution stronger which helped them in playing gritty knocks. While Pujara scored 92 runs, Ajinkya Rahane also scored 52 which helped India in putting up a score of 274 on the board. But the Australians were not able to achieve the target as R Ashwin’s spin bowling proved to be too much for them; Ashwin took 6 wickets for 75 runs and the visitors were all out for just 112.

India won the second test match and it was certainly a win to remember for a long time.

Yusuf Pathan Has Epic One-Liners For Cricket Legends Sachin, Dhoni, Shane Warne, Yuvraj & Gambhir

The online activity of the cricketers has increased to a great extent due to the lockdown which has been imposed on account of the coronavirus pandemic. They are now engaging in Instagram live sessions, conducting Q&A sessions and also using these platforms for requesting to their fans to stay at home and take all the precautions that have been advised by the government and medical professionals to stay safe.

Recently, the Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, the elder brother of former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, had a live Instagram session with a cricket portal and he answered many questions related to different topics. However, the best part of the session was when he was asked to describe some cricketers in one line. When the name of Sachin Tendulkar cropped up, Yusuf said that it is not possible to say anything about him in one line as he is a legendary player. Ultimately, Yusuf called Sachin Tendulkar as the God of Cricket.

In Yusuf Pathan’s opinion, Shane Warne and Yuvraj Singh are the rockstars. The Baroda cricketer also referred to Shane Warne as one of the favourite IPL skippers as he played under Shane Warne’s captaincy in IPL 2008, the year in which Warne led Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the IPL.

Everybody is a fan of MS Dhoni’s captaincy and the word that Pathan senior used for MSD was ‘clever’. Yusuf Pathan was also asked to describe the cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir and for him, the former used the term ‘Gambhir’ which means serious apart from calling him an emotional human being.

Yusuf Pathan who is famous for his hard-hitting batting style is one of those few Indian cricketers who have been a part of T20 World Cup 2007 winning team and ODI World Cup 2011 winning team as well. He has also been a part of IPL winning teams three times – two times with Kolkata Knight Riders and one time with Rajasthan Royals.

What do you think of Yusuf Pathan’s one-liners? Do you agree with him or do you have different opinion?
