Brad Hogg Compares IPL With PSL & Gave Them Similar Ratings, Gets Trolled Like Never Before

Indian Premier League (IPL) is undoubtedly one of the biggest sporting events of the world and Indians are pretty possessive about it as they are very passionate about cricket. Time and again, IPL has been compared with Pakistan Super League (PSL) despite the fact that the former is far ahead of the latter in terms of amount invested in the tournament, viewership, quality, etc.

IPL started in the year 2008 and it is 12 years old while PSL is just five years old, all the editions of cash-rich Indian league have been played in India except once when it was conducted in South Africa while this is the first time that PSL is going to be played completely in Pakistan.

Earlier, most of the matches of PSL were played in UAE and some matches were played in Pakistan because of the security concerns as overseas player didn’t want to play in a country which is famous for anti-social activities. The big names of the cricket world used to avoid going Pakistan; however this time, there is good news for PSL fans as popular cricketers such as Shane Watson, Jason Roy and others will be seen in this season of PSL.

In simple terms, IPL is much grander and bigger than PSL and Indian fans just can’t tolerate if any comparison is made between the two leagues and above all, if PSL is ranked similar to IPL. Recently former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg was asked by a Twitter user to rate IPL and PSL.

The tweet read, “Sir if u give points to cricket leagues Then how much for PSL and IPL”

In his reply, Brad Hogg gave 9 points out of 10 to both the leagues and mentioned his reasons for the same. He tweeted, “Both 9 out of 10. The PSL has been the most prevalent of late because it has bought the game back to Pakistan. The IPL has the most interest in viewership worldwide.”

Brad Hogg giving the same rating to both the leagues didn’t go well with the Indians. While Brad Hogg said that IPL has most interest in viewership globally, he rated PSL equivalent to IPL as it brought cricket back to Pakistan.

Keeping PSL on the same platform as IPL irked the Indian cricket fans and while some made fun of this, there were some who demanded to oust him from the commentary panel.

The Indian government and the state governments have been working hard to control the spread of coronavirus but still the number of patients in the country has crossed the 110 mark. Well, the good news is that few patients have recovered from this disease but still precaution is better than cure. Considering the fact that coronavirus disease is contagious in nature, schools, colleges, gyms, cinema halls, malls, etc. have been closed till March 31 and people have been asked to travel only if there is necessity otherwise they are advised to stay at home.

Needless to say, Bollywood has also been affected to a large extent with this outbreak as not only the release of some movies is postponed but the shooting of films has also been stopped. However despite such a grim situation and all this happening around us, we Indians still find out reasons to laugh.

A Fan Suggests An IPL Plan To Brad Hogg Who Likes It So Much That He Shared It With Sourav Ganguly

The whole world is fighting with coronavirus and it has affected the sports industry to a great extent as well. As coronavirus is contagious, attending social events or crowded places is definitely not advisable and because of this, many sporting events have been either cancelled or postponed.

The Indian Premier League is also one of the sporting events which have been postponed. Earlier the cash-rich league was supposed to start on March 29 with defending champion Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing the opener. But now the tournament has been postponed till April 15 as the foreign players won’t be able to join their franchises before that as the Indian government has revoked the visas of foreign nationals till April 15.

In a press conference, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that as 15 days have been reduced, the tournament has to be shortened. There were many on Twitter who gave suggestion as to how the tournament can be restructured and the former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg liked one suggestion so much that he tagged Sourav Ganguly and asked him to consider it.

One Twitter user whose handle is d_moinak suggested that two groups can be formed with 4 teams in each group and top two teams play the semi-finals and the final. He also asked to leave the home-away concept and limit the number of venues as well.

Here is what the Twitterati wrote, “Hi Brad. Would you be comfortable with an IPL format based on the Women’s T20 WC one. 2 groups, 4 teams in each. Top 2 from each play SF & then, Final. Do away with the home-away format & limit the no. of venues. Would be better logistically too & you can get a fair tournament.”

Brad Hogg liked the suggestion and he shared it with the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

His tweet read, “To Ganguly & #BCCI @d_moinak has a great solution for #IPL time poor scenario. 2 groups of 4 each play in one region, reducing travel requirements, with 2 semi finals and a final played at a different venue from group stages. Saves logistics & minimizes health risks.”

What do you think of this suggestion? Let us know.
