Indian cricket suffered a big defeat in the first ODI against New Zealand even after giving a target of 348 runs to the hosts. The ODI was played at Seddon Park, Hamilton, in which the toss was won by New Zealand and they invited the visitors to bat first.

As Rohit Sharma got injured in the 4^th T20I, he won’t be a part of the team in ODIs and Test matches as well which meant that someone else will be opening the Indian batting with KL Rahul. Earlier there were speculations as to which Indian cricketer – Prithvi Shaw or Mayank Agarwal will be making his debut in the ODIs today. But all the speculations were put to rest by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli who announced in the pre-match conference that both young cricketers will make their debut in the first ODI.

It must be a great feeling for Prithvi and Mayank to get the ODI cap from their skipper but a video is going viral on the Internet in which Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal is seen giving Prithvi and Mayank, their ODI caps in a funny manner. Yuzvendra Chahal certainly has a great sense of humour as he displays it in the video as well by pulling up the caps of Prithvi and Mayank and giving them back. Yuzi was not a part of the squad which played in the series opener against New Zealand.

Talking about the match, the Indian innings was opened by both the debutants, Prithvi and Mayank and both of them failed to utilise the opportunity and were not able to score big. However, the Indian innings was well managed by Virat Kohli (51), Shreya Iyer (103) and KL Rahul (88) and the team put up a huge total of 347 on the score board.

Team India would never have expected New Zealand to defeat them after scoring such a huge total but the Black Caps were fully prepared this time and their batsmen literally went on rampage. They achieved the target with the help of some brilliant knocks by Henry Nicholls (78), Ross Taylor (109) and Tom Latham (69) with 11 balls remaining to be bowled.

What makes this defeat more insulting for the Indian team is the fact that it gave away 29 extras which include 24 wides and the fielding was quite pathetic.

Taking this into consideration, it won’t be wrong to say that the most important clash of Under-19 World Cup took place when India and Pakistan faced each other in semi-finals at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Even if you are not a cricket fan, you still must be knowing that Pakistan has never been able to defeat India in the men’s World Cup but when it comes of U-19 World Cup, Pakistan leads India by 5-4. However, one thing that depicts India’s increasing supremacy is the fact that last three matches which have been played in U-19 World Cup tournaments between India and Pakistan have been won by India.

Pakistan managed to score only 172 runs for the loss of 10 wickets and India achieved the target without losing any wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century in order to help his team in crushing Pakistan and in taking his team to the finals of World Cup for the consecutive third time.

However, one of the highlights of the Paksitani innings was a run-out. On the second ball of the 30^th over which was bowled by Ravi Bishnoi, Pakistani batsman Qasim Akram pushed the ball towards covers and called his skipper Rohail Nazir for a quick single. But Nazir ran back after taking few steps while Qasim ran fast for the single. As a result both the batsmen were running towards the same end while Jurel removed the bails after Ankolekar threw the ball towards him.

Bollywood actress Disha Patani is leaving no stone unturned in promoting her upcoming movie “Malang” which is slated to release on 7^th February, 2020. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunal Kemmu in lead roles and has been directed by Mohit Suri.

Disha’s Bollywood debut had a cricket connection as her debut movie was MS Dhoni’s biopic and recently, she was at the studio of official broadcaster of India vs. New Zealand bilateral T20I series. She was at the studio along with other actors of the movie for the promotional purposes just before the fifth T20I which was played at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

When the actress was asked to pick a match winning player, she took Jasprit Bumrah’s name as she feels that he is one of the finest players that India has. She was quite sure that Bumrah will take down the Kiwis on 2^nd February in the fifth T20I.

In the first four games, Bumrah was not able to make any impression but in the fifth T20I, he took 3 wickets and conceded only 12 runs in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged as the Player of the Match and he is definitely going to play an important role in India’s campaign of T20I World Cup 2020 which is going to be held in Australia.

The veteran actor Anil Kapoor who is also passionate about cricket was clear about one thing that there is no one else who can compete with Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

The Indian team has whitewashed the 5-match T20I series and has become the first Indian team ever to do so. After getting humiliated in the T20I series, the hosts will be looking to regain some respect in the 3-match ODI series which is going to start from February 5.
