BBC Interviewer Asked New Zealand PM When She Is Getting Married. Twitter Slammed BBC Mercilessly

One question that people love to ask to an unmarried woman is when she is getting married, as if there is nothing more important in this world for a female other than marriage. The social media reacted in an angry manner when the same question was asked to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

The 38 years old New Zealand PM is currently touring England and Europe and after attending meetings with the leaders of UK, she also appeared in a BBC News Interview.

The interviewer was BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire and Jacinda answered a number of questions related to many important topics but what made people furious was the question that Victoria asked to Jacinda in regard to her marriage.

Victoria asked Jacinda whether she has any plan to propose marriage to her long time partner Clarke Gayford. Jacinda was surprised a little at this question but she handled herself beautifully and laughed out before answering that she wouldn’t do that. When she refused, the interviewer tried to question her feminism but Jacinda handled that also in a polite manner by saying that she is a feminist but she wants him to feel the heat of trying to ask that question as she doesn’t want to let him off the hook.

Let us tell you that Jacinda has a daughter with Clarke who is a presenter of a fishing show in New Zealand.

She was also asked whether she feels guilty for not being able to give more time to her daughter to which she said that she is a mother, not a super woman.

Twitterati were quite miffed with the type of journalism done by BBC interviewer as Jacinda is PM and there are many other topics to talk about with her.

Social media slammed BBC and Victoria for being so nasty. Here are some reactions:

Sarfaraz Apologised In 3 Tweets After Facing Criticism For Using Wrong Words For Andile Phelukwayo

Indian players Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are already out of the team for speaking inappropriate words in Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee With Karan and now a cricketer from neighborhood is also feeling sorry for uttering wrong words.

We are talking about Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed who made a derogatory and racist comment during the 2nd ODI which was against South Africa. The stump mic caught Sarfaraz saying this in reference to South African cricketer Andile Phelukwayo:

“Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya padhwa ke aaye hai aaj?”

His comment roughly translates to,

“Hey black guy, where is your mother sitting today? What have you made her read (prayer) for you today?”

The Pakistani captain faced heavy criticism from all the corners for his irresponsible behaviour and now he has apologised for the same on the micro-blogging site Twitter in a series of tweets.

He extended his apologies to any person who got offended with his comments and he made it clear that his words were not directed towards any particular person and he never wanted to make anyone upset. Sarfaraz Ahmed also said that he didn’t even want his comments to be heard or understood by the opponent players and fans. He further stated that he would always appreciate the camaraderie of his colleagues from all around the world, just as he has been doing in the past. At the same time, he also assured to respect and honor them on and off the field.

His first tweet read, “I wish to extend my sincere apologies to any person who may have taken offence from my expression of frustration which was unfortunately caught by the stump mic during yesterday’s game against SA. My words were not directed towards anyone in particular and…”

In the second tweet, he wrote, “I certainly had no intention of upsetting anyone. I did not even mean for my words to be heard, understood or communicated to the opposing team or the cricket fans. I have in the past and will continue in future to appreciate the camaraderie of my fellow cricketers from…”

This is what he said in his third tweet, “…across the globe and will always respect and honour them on and off the field.”

Andile Phelukwayo was the Man of the Match in that match as he helped his team win the match by scoring 65 runs and taking 4 wickets.
