The Pakistan Super League 2022 has attracted a big controversy as the senior Australian cricketer James Faulkner has leveled some serious allegations against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). James Faulkner was a member of the PSL team Quetta Gladiators but he left the tournament midway citing payment issues and accused the PCB of not honoring the contract. Faulkner alleged that he was kept in dark by the PCB officials who kept on telling lies to him. He also said that the manner in which the PCB has treated him is a disgrace.

Quetta Gladiators that is being led by the Pakistani cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed will not be able to use the services of James Faulkner in the last two matches. He played six matches in the tournament and in these six matches, he took six wickets and also played some useful innings but his sudden departure from the PSL has left Pakistani cricket fans in an agonized state.

In a couple of tweets, Faulkner leveled his allegations against the PCB and also apologized to the Pakistani fans for leaving the tournament.

He tweeted, “I apologise to the Pakistan cricket fans. But unfortunately I’ve had to withdraw from the last 2 matches and leave the @thePSLt20 due to the @TheRealPCB not honouring my contractual agreement/payments. I’ve been here the whole duration and they have continued to lie to me.”

He further writes that he doesn’t feel good while leaving because he wanted to help in bringing back international cricket to Pakistan as there are so many talented young cricketers.

His tweet read, “It hurts to leave as I wanted to help to get international cricket back in Pakistan as there is so much young talent and the fans are amazing. But the treatment I have received has been a disgrace from the @TheRealPCB and @thePSLt20 I’m sure you all understand my position.”

While the Pakistani cricket fans were not happy with James Faulkner and slammed him left and right, the Indian Twitterati left no chance to troll the PCB and PSL. Here are some selected reactions:

On the other hand, the PCB denied all the allegations of James Faulkner related to payment and called them baseless. In fact, the board accused Faulkner of gross misconduct and stated in the press release that the Australian cricketer damaged hotel property before leaving as he was under the influence of alcohol and he also behaved rudely with the immigration authorities. The PCB has banned James Faulkner for life in the PSL and some former Pakistani cricketers have also slammed the Aussie cricketer including Salman Butt who demanded strong action against Faulkner, such as taking him into custody.
