“It’s An Astonishing Decision,” Virat’s Childhood Coach Reacts As Kohli Quits Test Captaincy
A great era came to an end with Virat Kohli giving up the test captaincy after the Indian team lost the third and the final test match of the series against South Africa and with this, India also lost the series by 2-1. Virat is certainly the best Indian test captain as under his leadership, India won 40 test matches out of 68 played by them and it was quite shocking for the fans and the cricketing experts when he announced quitting the test captaincy.
Earlier, Virat Kohli gave up the captaincy of his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, then he quit the captaincy of India’s T20I team and later on, Rohit Sharma replaced him as the ODI skipper and now he also gave up the test captaincy.
Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Virat Kohli, was also left surprised with this decision of the latter and he referred to it as an astonishing call. Sharma says that the decision taken by Kohli is astonishing but he will not make any comment as it is Virat’s personal decision and he will also refrain from saying anything in this regard until and unless he gets to know the complete picture. However, Sharma emphasizes that Virat Kohli has not taken this decision in haste.
During the interview, Rajkumar Sharma also talked about the achievements of Virat Kohli, he said that when Virat took up the test captaincy, the Indian team was at the seventh position and when he has left the captaincy, team India is at the number one position.
After losing the 3-match test series, India will now clash against South Africa in 3-match ODI series starting January 19. Though the skipper of the Indian team in limited overs format is Rohit Sharma, he is not a part of the playing squad due to injury and his deputy KL Rahul will lead the team in Hitman’s absence.
What do you think of the decision of Virat Kohli in regard to the captaincy? Do let us know.
