Eoin Morgan On Winning The World Cup Trophy: Allah Was With Us
After winning its first-ever world cup England cricket team is beaming with pride. At the same time players are also hailing the New Zealand team for giving them a tough competition. England skipper Eoin Morgan after holding the silver golden trophy of the World Cup praised the New Zealand team in a press conference.
He said that Kiwis had a decent run as they also defeated the hot favorites India in the first semi-finals.
During the post-match conference on Sonday Morgan said, “They’ve been actually through a better tournament than we have. The fact a trophy is sitting here is, you know like I mentioned, we got the rub of the green today.”
He continued, “New Zealand, throughout the group stages, was absolutely outstanding, very consistent and in the semifinal was very ruthless in playing against India. India is an extremely strong team.”
When asked him if it was mere luck that they won the trophy when the clash was neck to neck, he answered, “We had Allah with us as well. I spoke to Adil (Rashid), he said Allah was definitely with us. I said we had the rub of the green (smiling).”
