Not everyone can be immortal only a few have this capability to live years beyond after they have passed away. Rabindranath Tagore is a legend. He is remembered for his work and literature to date. And it is an honor to be able to read his writings.

If he would have been alive, he would have completed 154 years of his life on the 7th of May. But today in Bengal this day is celebrated as Rabindra Jayanti and we thought we will celebrate his life too.

Here is a list of some lesser known facts about our Guruji.

1. He not only wrote India’s National Anthem but his song ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ was adopted by Bangladesh as their National Anthem. He also wrote the lyrics of Sri Lanka’s National Anthem that were translated from Bengali.

2. He was the first Indian to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. His work, Geetanjali, made him a Nobel laureate in 1905.

3. He was Knighted by the British government in 1915, but he gave up the title as a protest against the British policies.

4. Gandhi And Rabindranath Tagore were really close friends. But they had vivid vast opinions on India’s vision nationalism, patriotism, economy.

5. He traveled across 5 Continents and over 30 countries, sharing India’s culture with them.

He will always be alive in our hearts.
