The Indian cricket team is certainly missing its star batsman Rohit Sharma on the Australian tour, especially after getting crushed by the Australians in the first ODI by 66 runs. Recently, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli talked about the lack of clarity on the matter of Rohit Sharma’s fitness and after that, BCCI cleared the air by giving a statement.
Let us tell you about the whole issue in brief – Rohit Sharma suffered hamstring injury during one of the matches in the IPL, hence he was rested and not included in the squad for the remaining matches. In the meantime, BCCI released the list of players for the Australian tour and Rohit’s name was missing from it. The Indian cricket fans were quite angry with BCCI for being too harsh on Rohit, though the Indian board stated that they were monitoring the fitness of Rohit Sharma and the Indian pacer Ishant Sharma.
Nevertheless, everyone got confused when the official Twitter handle of Mumbai Indians which is led by Rohit Sharma posted his photos from the net sessions. People were surprised as to why Rohit was practicing in nets if he was not fine, some even questioned Rohit’s presence in UAE if he was unfit and also asked why he was not returning to India. However, things turned more confusing when Rohit Sharma played the finals of the IPL 2020 for his team and after that, he returned to India. During all this time, BCCI or Mumbai Indians said nothing about Rohit Sharma’s fitness.
Presently, Rohit Sharma is undergoing rehabilitation in National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, and this was one of the points raised by Virat Kohli as he put up the question why Rohit Sharma can’t undergo rehabilitation in Australia just like Wriddhiman Saha.
After Virat’s statement, BCCI has decided to clear the air by issuing a statement in which Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, states that Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai after the IPL 2020 because his father was not doing fine but now he is in NCA as his father is recovering well. He further adds that Rohit Sharma’s fitness will be assessed on December 11 and after that only, it will be ascertained whether he will go to Australia for the test series or not. It has been said that if Rohit Sharma will leave for Australia, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will make a request to his Australian counterpart Nick Hockley for allowing soft quarantine to Rohit Sharma so that Hitman can at least indulge in practice sessions during the 14 day quarantine.
As far as Ishant Sharma is concerned, he has recovered well from his side strain injury but is not completely fit for playing in the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
The confusion over Rohit Sharma’s fitness was a result of mismanagement by cricket operations team of BCCI but it is good that the confusion has been cleared now.
The Australians started the India-Australia 3-match ODI series with a bang by defeating the visitors by a huge difference of 66 runs. The match was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the hosts posted a mammoth total of 374 runs after winning the toss. The major contributions were made by the Australian skipper Aaron Finch who scored 114 and Steve Smith who played a smashing knock of 105 runs for which he played only 66 deliveries. David Warner also contributed well as he scored 69 runs whereas Glenn Maxwell produced a quick knock of 45 runs for which he faced only 19 balls.
In response, the Indian team was bundled out for 308 runs, the highest scorer for India was Hardik Pandya who made 90 runs and other than him, it was only Shikhar Dhawan who could show some resistance against Australian bowlers as Gabbar scored 74 runs. However, what was noticed by the Indian cricket lovers was the fact that all three Aussies who fired against India – Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell failed miserably in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2020.
Aaron Finch, the Aussie skipper who scored a ton in the first ODI played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2020 and performed below expectations with a total score of 268 runs in 12 matches. Glenn Maxwell’s IPL 2020 campaign was a huge disappointment for Kings XI Punjab IPL franchise as he scored only 108 runs in 13 matches and it must have been very hard for KL Rahul, the skipper of KXIP as he was keeping the wickets when Glenn was hammering the Indian bowlers in front of him.
Even KXIP’s official Twitter handle trolled Glenn Maxwell:
Steve Smith, another Aussie, was a big failure not just as a batsman but as a skipper for Rajasthan Royals as he scored only 311 runs and the Rajasthan franchise ended at the bottom of the points tally in the tournament. The official Twitter handle of Rajasthan Royals also took a jibe at Steve Smith with this meme:
Not just the Indian cricket fans but the former cricketers and commentators also took to Twitter to express their disbelief after seeing these Aussie cricketers performing great against India.
The Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar is not happy with the producer-director Karan Johar because the latter used a title for a web series which was originally registered by Madhur. Even though KJo has used the title by changing a little bit, it has not gone well with Madhur Bhandarkar and he made a complaint.
Now Karan has reacted to it and written an apology for Madhur Bhandarkar which has been accepted by the latter. The title in question is “The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” which is being used for a series that will stream on Netflix. In this series, the viewers will get a glimpse of the lifestyle of Bhavana Panday, Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari and Seema Khan.
In his apology, Karan Johar talked about his old relations with Madhur and he had always loved his work. He said that he knew that Madhur is upset with him and he apologized for the grievance caused due to the title. Later on, he talked about how his company is promoting the series and hoped that it would pacify the “Fashion” director.
Soon Madhur Bhandarkar responds to KJo’s apology, he takes to the micro-blogging site Twitter and writes that though he is deeply upset with what KJo has done, he believes in moving on and accepts his apology. Madhur reminded Karan about the times when Karan asked Madhur to grant him the title “Gutka” in 2013 which was originally registered by Madhur.
Bollywood celebrities often get trolled in India for their statements, dressing sense or for any other reason and Kareena Kapoor Khan has a good experience of getting trolled. The Bollywood actress has garnered a huge fan following over the years because of her brilliant acting performances and beautiful looks.
Some time ago, Kareena received a lot of hatred online as she belongs to a family of actors and moviemakers and for the same, she was called a product of nepotism. Later on in a chat show, she asked the haters not to watch her movies as nobody forces people to watch the flicks of star kids.
Recently during an interview, Kareena talks about the present situation of the country and how she plans to deal with trollers. As per her, there is a lot of chaos in the lives and minds of people due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown and everyone has a good amount of free time.
She further says that a number of people have lost jobs and many are sitting at home, adding that whatever slamming is done online nowadays should not be seen as trolling because it’s just that people are very bored and they want to say something.
The “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” actress states that she will like to spread positivity and peace and make everyone happy without interfering in each other’s life. In fact, she is of the opinion that if trolling brings happiness to someone, let it be then.
Kareena Kapoor who was last seen in “Good Newwz” is presently pregnant with her second child. Her first child Taimur is already an Internet sensation and whatever he does becomes news. She will be seen next in “Laal Singh Chaddha” which also stars Aamir Khan and is inspired from the Hollywood movie “Forrest Gump”. The movie was scheduled to release on Christmas 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will now release on Christmas 2021.
Some Indians are making the country proud even after getting settled in the foreign countries. One such Indian is Dr. Gaurav Sharma, the newly elected Member of Parliament of New Zealand. Gaurav’s family hails from the Indians state of Himachal Pradesh, there was a time when he and his family were homeless but with his hard work and dedication, he first got his medical degree and now he has become an MP.
The swearing-in ceremony took place recently and Dr. Gaurav Sharma decided to take his oath in Indian language Sanskrit along with Te Reo, New Zealand’s native language. He posted the video of his swearing-in ceremony on the social networking site Facebook and wrote that he learned Sanskrit language during his school days in India. He further adds that Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language which is almost 3500 years old and it has given birth to many Indian languages. Dr. Gaurav Sharma also writes that he has been informed about the fact that he has become the second person to swear-in in Sanskrit language outside India.

Some netizens questioned him for not taking oath in Hindi and in response, he said that he did think about it but then some could have asked him about taking oath in his first language which is Pahari or in Punjabi. Then he thought that Sanskrit will be perfect as he will be able to pay tribute all the Indian languages, many of which he is not able to speak.
Here is what he tweeted, “To be honest I did think of that, but then there was the question of doing it in Pahari (my first language) or Punjabi. Hard to keep everyone happy. Sanskrit made sense as it pays homage to all the Indian languages (including the many I can’t speak)”.

There is no denying the fact Dr. Gaurav Sharma has made Indians proud by taking oath in Sanskrit and we hope that he will continue doing so with his actions as an MP of New Zealand.
Just to inform you, Chandrikapersad “Chan” Santokhi is the first person who took oath in Sanskrit outside India when he became the President of Suriname in July this year.
The Indian-Australian ODI series has started today (Nov 27) in Sydney with the first ODI being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The matches will be played in the closed stadiums with no spectators since the coronavirus pandemic is still far from over and gathering of audiences inside the stadium will increase the risk of spreading the lethal virus.
In this series, the Indian cricketers will be wearing the newly designed jersey which is based on the retro theme. The new jersey which is inspired by the jersey of 70s is of navy blue color instead of sky blue. Recently, the Indian opener and the left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan took to Twitter and gave a glimpse of the new jersey.
Take a look:
He captioned the photo as, “New jersey, renewed motivation. Ready to go.”
However, the new jersey annoyed netizens because of the ad placements and people called the jersey as an advertisement banner instead of the national jersey. The sponsors MPL Sports and BYJU’s have been given a lot of space because of which many feel that the Australian cricket team will be playing against BYJU’s XI rather than the Indian cricket team. MPL Sports, the fantasy app, is the new kits sponsor of the Indian cricket team as it has signed a three-year 120 crore plus revenue sharing deal with BCCI. Earlier, Nike was the kits sponsor of the Indian cricket team.
Fans were very unhappy with the new design and they slammed BCCI left and right for ruining the Indian jersey. Here are some of the selected reactions:

lolwa… jersey kam advertisement ka pamphlet zaada lag raha hai…bcci ka bas chale to pant k naade aur shirt k collar pe bhi ek-aadh advertisement chapwa hi daale…
This is just insults to India in international forum that BCCI promoting brands and companies over india. below picture of sir @kiranmore is our jersey. pic.twitter.com/wZdGGZyjBY
Customized ppe kit is much better than this Jersey mpl and byjus completely ruined this Jersey 0.5/10 and this is what happens when companies like MPL design your Jersey they better @BCCI will change the better it will be #BYJUSvsAUS
"INDIA" hamesha upar, sabse bold aur prominent font me likha jana chahiye…brands ki jagah kona khopcha hai…Ye National team ki jersey ko corporate billboard ki tarah treat kiya gya hai
Horrible design. Logos are too large. MPL, BCCI and Byju logos should be much smaller. Really bad design. This is what happens when a non-sports company sponsors and designs official team kits. Please rectify @SGanguly99
add ki hadd ho gyi hai. Thoda chota banwa lete. Itna paisa kamati hai bcci phir bhi tshirt ko add se bhar diya. #INDIA to kahi nazar nhi aa rha hai. Besharmo india ke liye match khelte ho ya kisi brand ke liye. @narendramodi@myogiadityanath@SrBachchan@sachin_rt@SGanguly99
Worst Jersey ever. You are in so much need of money that you can put some ad logo on center pad. It is BYJUs team and definitely not bcci team. If you have so much money, improve our pitches quality.
On the other hand, the Australian cricketers will also be wearing new jersey in the T20 series against India. Cricket Australia took to Twitter and posted a photo of Mitchell Starc wearing the new jersey and the netizens just loved it.
The Australian men's team will celebrate our First Nations people this summer by wearing this incredible Indigenous playing shirt for the entirety of the #AUSvIND Dettol T20 series! pic.twitter.com/GmD36G8XoC
As far as the first ODI is concerned, the host won the toss and decided to bat first. This decision was proved correct after David Warner and Aaron Finch gave a superb start. While David Warner scored 69, Finch got out after scoring a century (114). Steve Smith also helped his team in putting a big total of 374 by scoring a ton (105) and Glenn Maxwell came up with the blistering knock of 45 for which he played only 19 balls.
Till the time the article was written, India was in a difficult position as they have lost 3 wickets for just 85 runs. Mayank Agarwal, skipper Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer have returned to the pavilion while Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul are on the crease.
Target of 375 seems difficult for India now but cricket is an unpredictable game so let us just keep our fingers crossed.
