EIU’s Global Liveability Index 2022 Is Out & This Is The Least Liveable City Of India

A person may travel all over the world whether for professional reasons or for pleasure purposes but at the end of the day everyone wants to come back home because there is no better place than your home in the entire world. However, many times a person wants to leave his hometown in order to settle in a different city or a different country because he is not happy with the living conditions of his city. Though the Indian government is working on making the Indian cities as smart cities, the truth is that we are lagging far behind from other cities of world in terms of liveable conditions.

Recently, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released its Global Liveability Index 2022 in which it revealed how invasion of Ukraine by Russia and removal of COVID-19 restrictions have affected the living conditions of 173 cities all over the world.

The research is based on various methodologies and on the parameters such as – culture, healthcare, infrastructure, education, environment, stability, etc.

While Vienna emerged as the number one city to live in this world, Copenhagen and Zurich came at second and third positions, respectively.

However, the bad news is that none of the Indian cities was able to make it to the top 100 in the list. New Delhi, the national capital of the country, secured 112th position while the financial capital Mumbai secured 117th rank followed by Chennai (142) and Ahmedabad (143).

But the silicon valley of India, i.e., Bengaluru fared the worst as it came at the 146th position despite the fact that it was the first in the list of Ease of Living Index which was released by the nation last year.

As per a leading daily, Bengaluru obtained only 46.4 out of 100 in regard to infrastructure which is the lowest score among the five Indian cities which featured in the list of Global Liveability Index 2022.

Quality of roads, water, public transport facility, telecom facilities, housing facilities, energy provision and international links were among the points which were considered while ranking the cities. This is certainly a bad sign for the Indian cities and also a signal for them to improve their living conditions.

“Hardik On Fire,” Twitter Lauds Hardik Pandya’s Stunning All-Round Show In 1st T20

Everything seems to be going in favor of the Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya who has made a very strong comeback after being away from cricket for a long time due to injury and fitness issues. He led Gujarat Titans which was a new team in the IPL 2022 and made it win the title in its debut season. Not just his captaincy was good but his batting and bowling were also superb in the league and it won’t be wrong to say that he led from the front.

His wonderful performances in the IPL 2022 left the selectors with no option other than calling him back in the team for the South Africa series in which Junior Pandya once again performed pretty well. After that, he was given the duty of leading the team on the Ireland tour and once again he performed very well in every aspect of the game. Till now, it is quite certain that the Gujarat cricketer will definitely play an important role in India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup which will take place in Australia later this year.

Hardik Pandya once again performed superbly in the first T20I of the 3-match series against England and helped his team in taking a lead of 1-0 by winning the first T20I by 50 runs. The match was played yesterday at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Hampshire and Hardik gave an all-round performance as first he scored 51 runs (33 balls, 6 fours & 1 six) and then he also dismissed 4 England batsmen (Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran).

The toss was won by the visitors and they decided to bat first. The Indian team put up a total of 198/8 on the score board with the help of Hardik Pandya’s fifty and useful contributions of Deepak Hooda (33 euns, 17 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (39 runs, 19 balls, 4 fours & 2sixes). The hosts could manage only 148 in 19.3 overs and the highest scorer for England was Moeen Ali (36 runs, 20 balls, 4 fours & 2 sixes). With this brilliant performance, Hardik Pandya who was adjudged as the Player of the Match also becomes the first Indian to score a fifty and take 4 wickets in an international T20I match.

While talking to mediapersons after the match, Hardik Pandya said that he is enjoying the game at the moment and the last time he played a T20 in England, he took 4 wickets and scored odd-30 runs so this time he knew that he is the first Indian cricketer to score a fifty and take four wickets.

He added that he needed a break during which he prepared his body and made it ready so that he can make the maximum use of opportunities that he gets. The skipper of Gujarat Titans is of the opinion that it is always about giving 100 percent and if a player is not able to give 100 percent, he should not play.

The cricket fraternity and fans were all praises for Hardik Pandya and this is how they lauded the cricketer:

“Virat Kohli Isn’t A Thug, He’s A Modern Day Icon,” Tino Best Hits Out At English Media

The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is known for his aggressive and expressive behaviour on the field and because of this, he has also faced criticism on many occasions. Currently, he is on the radar of the former England cricketers and English media for his antics in the recently concluded fifth rescheduled test match against England which was played at Edgbaston.

Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch, he hasn’t scored a century in any format for the last two years and this is definitely giving more ammunition to his haters for slamming him. He is one of very few Indian cricketers who don’t mind sledging the opposition players because he is a very competitive cricketer and leaves no stone unturned in winning the match.

Recently, an English journalist George Dobell shared a photo from Edgbaston test match on Twitter in which Virat Kohli is seen near the danger area of the pitch with the caption, “An interesting place to celebrate the wicket of Alex Lees… Pic credit: @dudleyplatypus”

With this tweet, George Dobell wanted to imply that Virat Kohli was trying to ruin the pitch in order to make it difficult for the batters to bat. However soon George Dobell got a perfect answer from Tino Best, the former West Indian pacer who came heavily upon the journalist and the English press as well.

Tino Best wrote, “Bro y’all Reaching Now FFS , …… anyone who’s BOLD and brown or black y’all always got a Dammmm problem with anyone who challenges y’all its an issue, I’m tired  of reading the English press talk crap about Virat or any player who isn’t English .”

Tino Best is pretty much straight forward when he says that English journalists have problem with anyone who is bold and brown or black and this certainly makes George Dobell a little upset who tells Tino that he is not like that. Later on Tino makes it clear that he has said this in a general manner about English media and asked George Dobell to tell his mate that Virat Kohli is not a thug, he is modern day icon.

Tino Best wrote, “For sure George you’re a real one but the others alway reaching from the English commentators etc etc , tell your mate that Virat isn’t a thug he’s a modern day Icon simple……. But then again he isn’t English so we would get these types of Articles make them Grovel”.

The Indians may have lost the fifth test match but they started the T20I series with a bang by winning the first T20I of the three match series by 50 runs. Virat Kohli didn’t play the first T20I but he will be back in the team from the second T20I and his fans are really hoping to see him perform well.

English Test Skipper Ben Stokes Reacts To Racial Abuse With Indian Fans During Edgbaston Test

The England cricket team outplayed the Indians in the fifth rescheduled test match which was played at Edgbaston and won the test match to level the Pataudi series by 2-2 and also retained the trophy. It won’t be wrong to say that the English cricketers have started playing fearless cricket under the leadership of Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum and it is certainly the start of a new era in the English cricket.

While the fifth rescheduled test match will be remembered for quality cricket played by both the sides, it will also be remembered for the unfortunate incidents that took place in the stadium during the test. Many Indian fans reported that they and their families faced racial abuse by some of the English spectators and no action was taken against them even after making repeated complaints.

Although the England and Wales Cricket Board took notice of it after the victims took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to express their annoyance and assured proper investigation into the matter yet we can’t ignore the essential fact that it definitely spoiled the fun of test match for many Indian cricket fans.

The English test skipper Ben Stokes was also unhappy with the racist incidents during the Edgbaston test match and he expressed his disappointment over the same. He took to Twitter and wrote that though he had an amazing week on the pitch, he is really very disappointed after hearing the incidents of racist abuse. He adds that there is no place for such things in cricket and hopefully fans will create a party atmosphere during the short format games because this is what cricket is all about.

Ben Stokes’ tweet read, “Amazing week on the pitch but really disappointed to hear reports of racist abuse at Edgbaston. Absolutely no place for it in the game. Hope all the fans at the white-ball series have a brilliant time and create a party atmosphere. That’s what cricket’s about!!”

The 3-match T20I series between India and England started yesterday with India winning the first T20I match by 50 runs. The second T20I game will be played tomorrow while the third will be played on Sunday. India and England will also play 3-match ODI series starting from July 12, while the India team is being led by Rohit Sharma as he is back after recovering from COVID-19, the English team is being led by Jos Buttler in the short format.

Hopefully, the unfortunate incidents of the Edgbaston test won’t be repeated in the remaining matches.

Rohit Sharma Reacts To Query About ‘Lots Of Changes’ Regarding Captaincy Of Team India

The Indian cricket team has won the first T20I of the 3-match series against England comfortably by 50 runs and with this, Rohit Sharma has become the first skipper to register 13 consecutive wins in the T20Is. It was the first international match of Hitman after the IPL 2022 because he wasn’t available for the South Africa and Ireland series and he also didn’t play the fifth rescheduled test match against England as he was tested COVID-19 positive.

In the last 10 months, the Indian cricket has witnessed many changes in terms of captains especially because 7 cricketers have played as skippers in this duration – KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Jasprit Bumrah. Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan will be the eighth skipper since he has been announced as the captain of the Indian squad which will be touring West Indies for 3 match ODI series and 5-match T20I series starting from July 22.

The reason behind Shikhar Dhawan being appointed as the captain is that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have been rested.

During the toss when Rohit Sharma was asked about these changes, he justified it by saying that it is something that has been prepared by him and coach Rahul Dravid because they know the scheduling and understand pretty well that the players will get swapped every now and then. Rohit Sharma says that in the process, they will create bench strength and it will also give ample chances to the guys to come and play as they have done it in Ireland and here also they will play couple of games.

Here’s a video in this regard:

The first T20I was played at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Hampshire, and India won it by 50 runs. The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first, the decision was proved correct by the Indian batters as they put up a good total of 198/8 on the score board. Hardik Pandya gave an all-round performance as he smashed 51 runs (33 balls, 6 fours & 1 six) and also took four wickets while bowling. Deepak Hooda (33 runs, 17 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (39 runs, 19 balls, 4 fours & 2 sixes) also made useful contributions and Hardik Pandya was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb performance.

While speaking about his team’s performance in the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma praised his cricketers as he said that the team performed well from the first ball. He added that the pitch was good and the batters used the conditions well by playing good shots especially in the powerplay. He further said that each batter needs to understand well the direction in which team wants to go and all the batters were perfectly spot on today.

Rohit Sharma also lauds Hardik Pandya for his bowling and batting and says that he wants to do a lot more in the coming days.

The second T20I will be played on Saturday at Birmingham.

“He Could Be Captain In India,” David Warner’s Wife Slams Cricket Australia Over Lifetime Ban

In 2018, the whole cricket world got shocked after people came to know about the sandpapergate scandal which took place during the third test match between Australia and South Africa. The match was played at Newlands, Cape Town, and in the 43rd over of the second innings of South Africa, the Australian bowler Cameron Bancroft was found rubbing the ball using a foreign object which was small in size and yellow in color for the purpose of making the ball swing in the flight.

After investigation it was found that Cameron Bancroft was using sandpaper and because of it, this scandal is known as sandpapergate scandal. Two other persons were found responsible for this unfortunate act – skipper Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner.

While Cameron Bancroft was banned for 9 months by the Cricket Australia, Steve Smith and David Warner were banned for one year each. While Steve Smith was barred from getting leadership roles for 12 months after the period of suspension got over, David Warner had been barred from getting leadership roles for lifetime because it was he who devised the plan and also taught Cameron Bancroft how to implement it.

However, David Warner’s wife Candice Warner is not happy with the fact that her hubby is banned from getting leadership roles for lifetime and recently in an interview to a commercial Australian radio network, she has called the lifetime ban as unfair judgment by the Cricket Australia.

While referring to the IPL and other T20 leagues, Candice states that her husband may become a captain in India and UAE where fans admire his leadership skills more than in Australia. Undoubtedly, David Warner has a great track record when it comes to the IPL as Sunrisers Hyderabad won its only IPL title under his leadership in the year 2016. Candice Warner feels that the T20 franchises, not just from India and UAE but from Caribbean Islands and Canada may also offer such opportunities to David Warner.

In response to the allegations that David Warner is not appearing in the domestic circuits, she says that her hubby needs to give time to his family also as the international cricket schedules are already very hectic.

Do you think that Candice Warner is correct when she says that the Cricket Australia has been unfair to her husband? What are your views in this connection? Share with us.
