One of the finest all-rounders of all times, former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds departed from the world last night after his car met an accident at the borders of Townsville. He had a huge fan following and he was an integral part of the Australian squad especially in the shorter format, however there were times when he remained in news for all the wrong reasons because of his habit of consuming liquor.
Andrew Symonds made his international debut in the year 1998 in the ODIs and he played 198 ODIs for Australia in which he scored 5088 runs. He had to wait till 2004 for making his debut in the purest form of the game but he played only 26 test matches in which made 1462 runs. He also played 14 T20Is for his country in which he scored 337 runs. Other than this, he also played for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and he was the second most expensive cricketer of the IPL 2008, the year in which the tournament started.
Andrew Symonds was also called “Roy” by his friends and family and he got this nickname from his childhood sports coach. His coach was a fan of Leroy Loggins, the former American-Australian basketball player and he liked Symonds also a lot so he nicknamed him as “Roy”.
Andrew Symonds was a part of many controversies including monkeygate and some time ago, he once again made headlines when the Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal made a revelation that in the year 2011, his MI teammates Andrew Symonds and James Franklin tied him up and left him for whole night while celebrating the victory in the finals of the Champions League.
The Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya has certainly impressed everyone with not just his game but his captaincy skills as well in the IPL 2022. He was away from cricket for a long time due to his injury and it won’t be wrong to say that he has silenced his critics with his performances. He is the skipper of the new IPL team Gujarat Titans which is sitting at the top of the points table with 10 wins in the 13 matches that it has played.
Hardik Pandya has led his team from the front in all the three segments of the game whether it is batting, bowling or fielding and has set up a great example as a leader. Junior Pandya is known as an aggressive cricketer but the Indian pacer Mohammed Shami who is also a part of GT feels that the responsibility of captaincy has reduced the aggression of Hardik Pandya.
In an interaction with mediapersons on Friday, Mohammed Shami says that after the Gujarat cricketer has become the team’s skipper, he has become calmer and his reactions are more considerate. Shami adds that he has advised his captain to keep a control on his emotions because the whole world is watching cricket and it is very significant for a leader to act sensible and as per the situations which Hardik Pandya has done to the perfection.
Mohammed Shami is leading the pace attack of GT and is the highest wicket-taker for his team with 18 wickets. GT is the first team to enter the play-offs and today it has played its 13th match against the four times champion Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium.
GT won the match comfortably as it achieved the target with 7 wickets in hand and 5 balls remaining in its innings. GT opener Wriddhiman Saha was awarded with the Player of the Match award for his beautiful knock of 67 runs not out (57 balls, 8 fours & 1 six).
The toss was won by MS Dhoni led CSK and it decided to bat first but the CSK batters managed only 133/5 in their 20 overs with the help of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 53 runs (49 balls, 4 fours & 1 six) and Narayan Jagadeesan’s 39 runs (33 balls, 3 fours & 1 six).
Hardik Pandya has definitely improved after becoming a skipper, what do you say?
The southern language movies have been roaring on the box-office and this time it is not just about the southern box-office but they are also making their presence felt in the Hindi speaking states. Many movie lovers, industry experts, etc. are of the opinion that Bollywood is losing its sheen and southern movies and their actors are slowly establishing themselves in the hearts of audiences whose heart used to beat for Bollywood earlier.
The dubbed versions of Prabhas starrer Baahubali, Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa, Ram Charan and Junior NTR starrer RRR and Yash starrer KGF 2 received a lot of love from the Hindi audiences and these actors also became a household name in this part of the country. However when another superstar of the Telugu movie industry Mahesh Babu was asked regarding his intentions of working in Bollywood, he created a controversy by saying that Bollywood can’t afford him.
While majority of people from Bollywood slammed the actor for his arrogant statement, there were very few including Kangana Ranuat who supported him by saying that they have grown so high that Bollywood can’t really afford them.
This statement of Mahesh Babu disappointed many and soon an old video of Shah Rukh Khan started circulating in which the latter responded to the question of working in Hollywood in a humble manner. Shah Rukh who is also known as the King of Romance is certainly one of the most popular actors of the Indian film industry and he enjoys a huge fan base across the globe.
In a very modest style, SRK makes it clear that he has no intentions of working in Hollywood, in fact he begins by saying that his English is not good which makes everyone laugh.
Here is what SRK said, “If they give me a role of a dumb person who doesn’t speak, maybe. I am not trying to be modest but I am 42 years old, I am little brown, I don’t have any special USP as an actor. I don’t know Kung fu, I don’t dance the Latin salsa, I am not tall enough. I think anyone who is my age in the western world, I have seen recent films of Europe, films of what you call ‘the dream factory’, I think there is no space for me. There is no place for me because I don’t think I am that talented. So I would like to continue doing work in India and hopefully I take Indian cinema to the world, that’s the ambition I have”.
The cricket world and cricket fans have once again got a big blow as the former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds suddenly bid goodbye to all of us. Though this news sounds unreal, it is true that the 46 years old former Aussie cricketer departed from the world after his car crashed at the border of Townsville.
This is certainly a big shock for cricket fans who could not overcome the loss of legendary former Aussie cricketer Shane Warne who departed from this world earlier this year.
Andrew Symonds was one of the finest all-rounders of his times and he represented his country in all the three formats, however he played more in the shorter formats for Australia. He was a part of the Aussie squads that won two World Cups (2003 & 2007) and was also called Roy by his loved ones as this nickname was given to him by one of his coaches.
What’s more, Andrew Symonds was known as an exceptional fielder and it won’t be wrong to say that he was very quick and agile for his body. As far as his career is concerned, he played 26 test matches for Australia and scored 1462 runs; talking about the short formats, he made 5088 runs in 198 ODIs while in 14 T20Is that he played, he scored 337 runs.
Andrew Symonds played for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the IPL and his career was filled with many controversies including the infamous Monkeygate. His habit of consuming liquor landed him in problem many times and disciplinary action was taken against him on few instances. Andrew Symonds was the third international cricketer to take part in the Indian reality show Bigg Boss which is hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
The former cricketers and others from the cricket fraternity from all around the world, especially Andrew Symonds’ teammates with whom he played, were in for a rude shock and here is how few of them reacted:
If Roy shook your hand you had his word, that’s the sort of bloke he was and that's why I always wanted him on my team. An extraordinary player and even better human being. Can’t believe he’s gone. Thoughts are with his family at this time. pic.twitter.com/7r7FiK1CzK
Andrew Symond’s demise is shocking news for all of us to absorb. Not only was he a brilliant all-rounder, but also a live-wire on the field. I have fond memories of the time we spent together in Mumbai Indians.
Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Andrew Symonds. Gone too soon. Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. Prayers for the departed soul #RIPSymonds

The social media handles keep entertaining us and surprising us with the new trends and the latest addition in this is “Kya fayda” which translates to “What’s the use” in English. The trend has set the micro-blogging site Twitter on fire with really creative responses that are not only funny but relatable as well.
You may be wondering that just anything can trend on the virtual world and it may sound a little weird too at first but when you go through tweets, there will be a smile on your face as netizens have shared such common stuffs under the trend that you would think it’s about you or the people of your acquaintance. While some have taken a dig at others in a sarcastic way, few are simply being humorous and from studies to cooking, professions to human behaviour, tweets under the trend have covered it all.
These rib-tickling reactions will make you go ROFL:
Kya fayda communication skills sikh ke jab rehna to tumhe introvert hi hai
Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” which released in the year 2006 and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan in important roles was a hit on the box-office. Its tracks were quite popular and “Tumhi Dekho Naa” featuring SRK and Rani was a favourite of every romantic song lover. In fact, many people shared videos of lip-syncing the song or recreating it which once again suggests how popular it was among music buffs.
Now an Indonesian couple has come up with another recreation of the song and it’s so similar to the original one that you’d barely find a difference. From costumes to location, make-up to hairstyle, actions to expressions, there’s uncanny resemblance between the original and recreated versions.
It’s absolutely a visual treat to watch the video with the screen split in two in one of which the original track is being played and you can match the whole lot which shows how things have been executed with utter perfection.
The video which has been shared with the caption, “TUMHI DEKHO NA – Vina Fan Version Parodi Recreate – Rani Mukerji Shah Rukh Khan Kabhi Alvida” will leave you amazed. The video is going viral and has been viewed for more than 4 lakh times ever since it was shared, i.e., on May 10, 2022. Netizens are showering it with love and praises and you too won’t be able to stop yourself from appreciating the couple and the team behind it. Here it is:
Dinesh Karthik, the Indian cricketer who is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2022 is in a great form and many former cricketers feel that if there is any batsman who has played the role of finisher to the perfection till now in the tournament, it is certainly DK.
Dinesh Karthik has played 13 matches for his franchise till now and has scored 285 runs including a fifty (66 not out) and has remained not out 8 times. In an interview earlier, he revealed that after he was selected in the team, he got a call from RCB and he was told that he is one of those 2-3 players who have been chosen to fill the gap which has been created after the retirement of AB de Villiers.
Recently while chatting with the former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, DK showed his funny side when he gave a hilarious reply to a question asked by the former Kiwi player. Dinesh Karthik is one of those few cricketers who have started doing commentary before taking retirement and when Simon Doull asked him whether he has been practicing in a different manner as his strike rate has been unbelievable in the IPL 2022 and how he is preparing himself for the role which he plays towards the end of the innings, DK replied by saying that all this was taught to him by Simon Doull in the commentary box when they both were doing commentary last year.
Simon Doull asked him the question again regarding his practice and DK said that before the start of the season, he and his coach thought of doing something different because they were becoming easy to predict. He further says that he plays shot both pre-meditated and reactive, based on the situation. He adds that it is very important for a player to keep contributing towards the team in whatever manner possible for him.
DK is hoping to make a comeback in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup which is going to take place in Australia later in the year. He says that he certainly has a vision in his mind and he will do his best to achieve it and ensure that he keeps performing well in the process too.
However, the 36 years old wicketkeeper-batsman was not able to take his team home as the winner in the last match which RCB played against Punjab Kings. Mayank Agarwal-led side batted first as RCB chose to bowl after winning the toss and the PBKS batters batted beautifully as they put up a total of 209/9 on the score board in their 20 overs. Jonny Bairstow (66 runs, 29 balls, 4 fours & 7 sixes) and Liam Livingstone (70 runs, 42 balls, 5 fours & 4 sixes) played brilliant knocks but the PBKS bowlers were also bang on target as they made the RCB batters’ lives difficult and the Bangalore team managed only 155/9 in 20 overs.
Dinesh Karthik scored only 11 runs in the match which RCB lost by 54 runs but still the Tamil Nadu cricketer has been superb in this IPL. Moreover, don’t you think that he appears to have pretty strong chances of making a comeback in the Indian team as well?
