“For 12-13 Hours A Day, I Used To Get Paid $35,” Harshal Patel Opens Up On His Struggles

There is no denying the fact that the Indian cricketers earn a lot as they are paid a good amount by the BCCI as well as the IPL franchises for playing cricket and if a player is famous and enjoys a huge fan following, he can earn huge through endorsements too.

However, there are few cricketers who have struggled a lot before getting success in their career and Harshal Patel is one of them. The RCB cricketer talked about his days of struggle in an interview in which he told that used to work in a perfume store in Elizabeth, New Jersey, which was owned by a Pakistani person and he was paid only $35 per day. He further stated that the biggest problem faced by him over there was of understanding English language because throughout his school life, he studied in a Gujarati medium school.

Harshal Patel further said that this was his first time when he had to deal with English language and that too with a lot of slang as the majority of people in that area were of Latino and African American origin but slowly he got acquainted with their style of English which can be called as Gangster English.

Harshal Patel who leads Haryana in the domestic cricket stated that that phase of life taught him a lot especially about the blue collar jobs. As per him, his uncle and aunt used to drop him to his workplace at 7 am while going to their offices, the perfume store used to get open by 9 am so he had to sit at the railway station, Elizabeth. He told that he used to work at the store till 7:30-8:00 pm, 12-13 hours of working every day and he was paid only $35 per day.

The hard work of Harshal Patel has paid off now as currently he is an integral part of Royal Challenger Bangalore and the franchise bought him back in the mega-auction for the IPL 2022 at a price of Rs. 10.75 crore. The cricketer who was the purple cap winner in the IPL 2021 has also found a place in the Indian team and hopefully he will cement it with some superb performances.

“You Do Not Become A Bad Player Overnight,” AB De Villiers Speaks On Virat Kohli’s Poor Form

The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli may have been out of form for a long time but he is definitely one of the best cricketers of all times and everyone including his fans and former cricketers believe that he will soon regain his touch and score big. Though he scored 58 runs in his last match which was against the new IPL team Gujarat Titans, he played 53 deliveries which slowed down run-rate and increased pressure on the other batters.

Recently, AB de Villiers also shared his opinion in regard to the bad form of Virat Kohli and his words certainly matter a lot because ABD himself is one of the best batters of all times and shares a great bond with the former RCB skipper because they both played for the same franchise for a long time.

The former South African cricketer has stated in an interview that a batter is just one or two bad knocks away from the bad form and if it is happening to him repeatedly, it will be difficult to bounce back. In AB de Villiers’ views, Kohli’s problem is related more to his mind rather than being a technical problem. He adds that he can’t state percent wise but the real battle is with the mind and the power of the mind.

ABD goes on to say that Virat certainly knows it is all about the way a batter thinks and sets his mind and he needs a clear mind and fresh energy whenever he plays so that he can get rid of the poor form.

As far as the IPL 2022 is concerned, Virat Kohli has played in 10 matches in which he has scored 186 runs and has also got out on golden duck twice. Currently, he is opening for his team and probably he will like to do so in the remaining matches as well.

Sanju Samson’s Unique Protest Against Umpiring In IPL 2022 Leaves Twitter Talking

The umpiring in the ongoing IPL 2022 has been criticized a lot because some umpiring decisions have been termed as very poor by the cricketing experts and fans. In the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders which was played yesterday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, the RR skipper Sanju Samson showed his resentment against the umpiring by taking a DRS.

It all took place in the 19th over of the KKR innings when the team was chasing the target of 153. RR bowler Prasidh Krishna was bowling outside the off-stump as per the game plan to both the KKR left-handed batsmen Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana. Prasidh Krishna bowled the third delivery of the over full and wide outside the off-stump, Rinku Singh was not able to make a contact and the umpire Nitin Pandit gave it a wide which was not liked by Sanju Samson.

On the next delivery, Prasidh Krishna was hit for a four and then he bowled short and wide delivery to Rinku Singh who moved across to play it but didn’t manage to hit the ball. Surprisingly, Nitin Pandit gave this one also a wide which annoyed Sanju so much that he decided to protest by taking a DRS despite the fact that there was a huge gap between the bat and the ball.

Umpire Pandit asked Samson again whether he really wanted to go for DRS and the RR skipper replied in affirmative.

Here is the video of Sanju Samson asking for DRS:

However, this drama continued till the last ball of the over as Prasidh Krishna once again went for a wide and this time, Nitish Rana was on the striker’s end. Sanju Samson was not at all happy with the umpire’s decision and he went to him for having a little chat about it.

Some online users also reacted on this matter and here are some selected reactions:

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by KKR and it decided to bowl first. RR managed to put a small total of 152/5 with the help of Sanju Samson’s gritty innings of 54 runs (49 balls, 7 fours & 1 six). KKR successfully chased the target as Nitish Rana (48 runs not out, 37 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and Rinku Singh (42 runs not out, 23 balls, 6 fours & 1 six) played some sensible cricket and took their team home as the winner. KKR won the match by 7 wickets with 5 balls remaining in its innings and Rinku Singh was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb knock.

What do you have to the say about the level of umpiring in the IPL 2022? Do let us know.

Kapil Lauds Sachin, Says “If You’re Talented But Not Hard-Working, You Can Go Vinod Kambli Way”

The legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has a great fan base all over the world and the majority of his fans consider him as the God of cricket because there is hardly any record in cricket which Sachin Tendulkar doesn’t holds. The former Mumbai cricketer made his international debut at the age of 16 in the year 1989 while in 2013, he took retirement. He has scored more than 34K runs in international cricket which also includes 100 international centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar is admired by not just cricket fans but = many former cricketers as well including the former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev who is himself a legend as India hasn’t been able to find an all-rounder of his caliber even after so many years of his retirement. Kapil Dev is the first Indian skipper under whose leadership India won the first ICC World Cup in the year 1983 and recently he showered praises on Sachin Tendulkar while addressing the students of a University.

Kapil Dev says that some youngsters make the wrong decision of taking up something in order to make a good impression on others but they should love themselves first and use their passion in the right direction. He adds that passion, hard work and commitment can’t be replaced by any substitute and Sachin Tendulkar can easily be called the perfect example of talent and hard work. Kapil Dev warns students saying that even if they are talented but they don’t work hard, they will go the Vinod Kambli way.

Vinod Kambli, the former Indian cricketer, is Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood friend who made his debut in the year 1993 and was considered as the next big thing in the Indian cricket but he soon lost focus and as a result, his career was short-lived.

Talking about himself, Kapil Dev says that he has always been a man of action and he firmly believes that if a person is passionate about something, he will certainly achieve it. He went on to say that in his young days, he used to practice for hours without even thinking whether it was day or night. The former Indian skipper concluded by saying that if a person loves doing something, he will forget everything else for sure.

These were some golden words of wisdom from an icon!
