“I’d Thought Life Would Be Easier & Sorted,” Darsheel Safary Speaks On Frustration Post COVID

Aamir Khan directed “Taare Zameen Par” (2007) was one of the most successful movies in which Aamir Khan acted as well but the lead actor in this film was Darsheel Safary who was 10 years old at that time. Darsheel was praised a lot for his acting and later on, he acted in couple of projects too but things didn’t work out as expected and the actor got disappeared from the acting scene.

Recently in an interview, Darsheel stated that the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down things a lot for him as he used to think that he would be established as an actor by the age of 25 and his life would be sorted in a spiritual manner as well but the pandemic affected him in an adverse manner. He revealed that he was in talks with many moviemakers and he had some very good projects lined up but everything went for a toss.

Darsheel Safary stated that his parents and friends supported him completely but his momentum came to halt which is certainly not good for an actor. He said that whenever his parents asked him to keep patience, he replied by saying that they couldn’t understand what he had been going through because they were not in his place and he used to wonder as to how he could get the lost time back. Darsheel further said that some people even came to him and stated that they thought he quit acting.

The famous Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan also once talked about losing 2 yrs of her career due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When Darsheel was asked whether he would like to work with Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, he replied in positive and said that who wouldn’t like to work with them as they are famous and established actresses and hopefully in a year or two, he would also get his chance to make his name.

On the question of nepotism, Darsheel says that it has been sensationalized unnecessarily because influence works everywhere, whether it is in school, college or any other place as who would like to see their kids facing problems.

He further says that if he will have the chance of making life of his kid easier, he would certainly do that but he also states that a moviemaker will cast only that person who he wants to and an actor should keep on working hard rather than thinking for whom he will get discriminated. At the same time, he also makes it clear that till date, he hasn’t faced any discrimination.

We wish him all the best for his acting career.

“I Think Faf Would Be Jealous,” Ruturaj Gaikwad Takes A Funny Dig At Ex Opening Partner

MS Dhoni is once again the skipper of Chennai Super Kings because Ravindra Jadeja gave up captaincy and requested Mahi to take it back as he wanted to focus on his game. Thala agreed to it and in his first match as the skipper in the IPL 2022, CSK managed to register its third victory in the tournament and kept its hopes of entering the play-offs somewhat alive.

CSK’s ninth match was against Sunrisers Hyderabad which was played at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium and in this match, CSK batter Ruturaj Gaikwad who was struggling in scoring runs also regained his form. Though Ruturaj Gaikwad was the highest scorer in the IPL 2021 yet in this season, he was not able to make big scores.

Toss was won by the Hyderabad franchise and it decided to bowl first. Batting first, CSK openers put up a great show as Ruturaj Gaikwad (99 runs, 57 balls, 6 fours & 6 sixes) and Devon Conway (85 run not out, 55 balls, 8 fours & 4 sixes) produced a partnership of 182 runs for the first wicket which is the highest ever partnership for CSK in the history of the IPL. Earlier, the highest partnership for CSK was in the name of Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson which was of 181 runs in the IPL 2020 against Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab).

In a chat after the match, Ruturaj who missed his century by one run didn’t miss the chance of trolling Faf du Plessis who used to open with him in the IPL 2021. Ruturaj states that he feels Faf would be jealous but it’s fine as he likes to have the record. Talking about his partnership with Devon Conway, Ruturaj says that they both were not able to do well in the powerplay but he kept on telling Devon that if they stayed for long, they would get going. Ruturaj also adds that he is happy for Devon as he managed to score big for the franchise.

Ruturaj went on to say that his parents also came to watch him play, though they usually don’t come yet he wanted them to experience the environment and the CSK thing. He further states that he is thankful to the God and his parents for their constant support and hopes that he has made them proud.

As far as the match is concerned, CSK scored 202/2 in its stipulated 20 overs but SRH managed only 189/6 despite the fact that it got a good start as its openers Ahishek Sharma (39 runs, 24 balls, 5 fours & 1 six) and Kane Williamson (47 runs, 37 balls, 2 fours & 2 sixes) put up a partnership of 58 runs for the first wicket stand. The SRH middle order didn’t perform as per the expectation, though Nicholas Pooran batted well for his 64 runs not out (33 balls, 3 fours & 6 sixes), still SRH lost the match by 13 runs.

Faf du Plessis is currently leading Royal Challengers Bangalore and after starting well in the tournament, the franchise lost the momentum as till now, they have won 5 matches and lost the same number of matches.

Well played Ruturaj Gaikwad!

Wasim Jaffer Trolls Mitchell Marsh For Not Taking DRS After Judgement Error Against LSG

Delhi Capitals started its IPL 2022 campaign pretty well but then it lost momentum and now it is sitting at the sixth position with 4 wins in the 9 matches that the team has played. However, it could have won its ninth match which was against the new IPL team Lucknow Super Giants if DC batter Mitchell Marsh would have taken the DRS and stayed on the crease for some more time.

The match between DC and LSG was played yesterday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and LSG chose to bat first after winning the toss. LSG posted a good total of 195 runs on the score board with the help of beautiful knocks of skipper KL Rahul (77 runs, 51 balls, 4 fours & 5 sixes) and Deepak Hooda (52 runs, 34 balls, 6 fours & 1 six).

DC had a very disappointing start as it lost both the openers Prithvi Shaw (5) and David Warner (3) quite early but Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant stabilized the innings and also scored runs at a pretty good pace. Mitchell Marsh was going very good as he scored 37 runs in 20 balls and his innings included 3 fours and the same number of sixes.

When the 30 years old Aussie cricketer was at the score of 37, the LSG wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock appealed for caught behind on the bowling of Krishnappa Gowtham. However, the replay showed that Marsh was not out as the ball didn’t touch the bat but till then, he was back in the DC dugout. He could have appealed for a review as DC was left with reviews and if he had stayed on the crease for some more time, things could have been different for the Delhi franchise.

Soon Twitterati started reacting to the incident and people began to troll Mitchell Marsh. There were also some who slammed the umpires for poor level of umpiring and here are some of the selected reactions:

However, the best response was from the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer who used a still from Sanjay Dutt starrer “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.” and the image had “Tu Aussie Hai Na?” (Are you sure you are an Aussie?)”and the caption was, “Ponting to Marsh who walked without nicking”.

Wasim Jaffer referred to the fact that the Australian cricketers are pretty competitive and they do not give up easily even in the toughest of the situations.

Coming back to the match, the DC skipper Rishabh Pant scored 44 runs (30 balls, 7 fours & 1 six) before getting out, though Rovman Powell (35 runs, 21 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and Axar Patel (42 runs not out, 24 balls, 1 four & 3 sixes) tried their best, still DC fell short by 6 runs and LSG registered its 7th win, grabbing the second spot on the IPL points table.

What is your take in regard to the incident involving Mitchell Marsh? Let us know.

New India’s Guide To Philanthropy: EFG – Efforts For Good, Re-Defining The Crowdfunding Space In India

The Indian crowdfunding space is crowded with players like Ketto, Milaap, Impact Guru and the newest entrant, EFG – Efforts For Good, which claims to be the most sincere, structured and transparent product. We take a look at the evolving landscape around technology and how it can possibly shape a better world while solving a few complex issues along the way.

It is often easy to get overwhelmed with the sheer number of choices one has to make in a fast-paced world. The advent of the internet has paved way for connectivity on a scale the world had never seen before. With connectivity rapidly increasing, the entire world is slated to be connected to the internet by the end of this decade. The possibilities are immense with the advent of technology, earning potential and ease of payments.

We live in an internet-based ecosystem and have seen the rise of the gig economy. There has been a drastic increase in the earning potential of young Indians, and people in their 20s, without any generational wealth, now have access to enormous wealth. Platforms like Youtube and Instagram have become lucrative options for content creators to make a constant source of income. According to a report by Oxford Economics, The creator ecosystem at YouTube alone contributed an estimated ₹6,800 crore to the Indian GDP, generating more than 6.83 lakh full-time equivalent jobs in India in 2020. With the rise in earning potential, it is quite natural that a part of this wealth would eventually flow back into the economy through philanthropy and contributions. People actively seek credible and convenient avenues to channel their surplus income and fund social causes.

The traditional crowdfunding platforms and players seem to be losing their ground due to a lack of transparency and accountability. Focusing entirely on medical fundraisers, these platforms are often seen employing annoying marketing tactics driven by guilt and fear.

Talking about this, Manish Pandey, Strategist and Mentor to some of India’s biggest creators, said “I am too tired of watching the video ads that pop up while streaming videos where somebody is crying and towards the end, we are asked to donate money. I have become a product because I am being targeted over and over again. It’s time to end emotional marketing which lacks accountability.”

While more and more people are now willing to contribute to social development, the lack of transparency keeps them from doing so. Due to the sheer number of NGOs operating in the country, trust becomes hard to establish and citizens and potential contributors are left in a state of disarray and hesitation. Without a focused, planned and aggressive approach, social development takes a back seat. India is home to some amazing non-profits and innovators tackling several complex issues, but existing crowdfunding platforms are failing to support and amplify their efforts.

In an attempt to combat these issues effectively, EFG – Efforts For Good was soft-launched in 2019 by the founding team of The Logical Indian, Abhishek Mazumdar and Anurag Mazumdar. The Logical Indian has been a public-spirited media company, and EFG appears to be a culmination of their years of experience and encounter with the development sector.

EFG, while operating in a low profile, has seen some early success. During the pandemic, EFG has raised over INR 2 crores for projects like Khaana Chahiye, an initiative to cater to the unmet food demand of those in need in the city of Mumbai during the Covid-19 crisis and Ghar Bhejo, an initiative by Sonu Sood to send stranded migrants back to their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

After gathering a closer understanding of the landscape of community-funding, EFG – Efforts for Good has recently pivoted itself with the newly evolved version focusing only on six philanthropy sectors projects carried out by handpicked specialised non-profit partners. As they state on their website, EFG doesn’t charge any fee or commission from the non-profits at any stage. EFG sustains itself on an optional fee model that is voluntarily paid to EFG by its satisfied philanthropists. This is a unique business model as it requires EFG to work only in the best interest of the non-profits and projects as the project’s success would mean an optional fee from those backing it. Unlike other counterparts who are typically seen working on a flat commission/marketing fee, leaving them with less concern about the final outcome of campaigns and projects they onboard.

Elaborating on this further, Abhishek Mazumdar, The Co-founder and CEO of The Logical Indian and EFG, said

“We believe in solutions that are sustainable and preventive in nature. The non-profits we work with are experts in what they do and ensure that once a project is completed, it can sustain itself. Our NIPs (non-profit implementation partners) are not charged any fees and all the funds raised towards a project goes directly to them. We have all the reasons to ensure the project’s success. Their success is our success. We just can’t sit back, relax and keep a cut. We’re glad to be backed by some of the most disruptive leaders from the social innovation space that includes Anshu Gupta from Goonj and Sonam Wangchuk from HIAL. They are actively helping us and our partner non-profits ensure the product’s effectiveness and prioritise the right kind of projects. We remain obsessed and committed to transparency, and this includes third-party audits of EFG and our partner-non profits, everything easily accessible on EFG.

To ensure that their efforts toward social development are fully optimised, they have elicited the expertise of Sonam Wangchuk – Founder of SECMOL and HIAL, Anshu Gupta – Founder of Goonj and Manasi Joshi – World Para-Badminton champion and Disabled rights activist as their Board of Advisors. With their wisdom and guidance, EFG is on a 25-year mission to accelerate social development by democratising philanthropy.

Talking about Efforts for Good and its vision, Sonam Wangchuk, founder SECMOL and HIAL stated

“There is a great need for platforms that see the bigger picture and have/support meaningful solutions that could tackle the root cause. A trustworthy and long-visioned platform was the need of the hour and I really feel EFG is an answer to it.”

“Har Jagah Camera Leke Ghus Jaate Ho,” Kid’s Rant About Dad Making His Videos 24*7 Goes Viral

The social media platforms have become so important for people nowadays that they post everything about their lives and some of them are so obsessed that they leave no chance of making videos of their kids.

One such kid whose parents are pretty much into making videos and posting them on social media got quite upset with his parents and he schooled them in such a manner that it brought smiles on the faces of netizens.

The name of the kid is Molik Jain and he was sitting in a car drinking a glass of sugarcane juice (ganne ka juice) when his father started making his video. Molik reacted in an angry way as he shouted, “Yaar kya hai yaar aapko? Matlab main kuch khata hun, peeta hun, har jagah aap camera leke ghus jaate ho. Mai kal potty ja raha tha tab bhi aap camera leke ghus gae. Har cheez main. Matlab kuch karne hi nahi dete.” (What’s the problem with you? I mean if I eat something or drink, you just come up with camera. I was in washroom yesterday and there too you came with the camera. It’s just with everything and you don’t let me do anything peacefully)

He further talks about the reality of the modern world as he says “Aur yeh mere sath nahi, har bachhe ke sath hota hai. Har bachhe ke maa-baap chahte hai ki woh influencer bane. Puri zindagi is camere me hi ghusa rahu main. Din bhar, video, video, video!” (And this is not just with me, it happens with every child. Every kid’s parents wants him/her to be an influencer. I’ll just be occupied with this camera whole life. Video, video, video all day long…)

After that, Molik asks his father in a cool manner to let him enjoy the sugarcane juice.

Yuvraj Singh Revealed Why Dhoni Promoted Himself Up The Batting Order In 2011 WC Final

The Indian cricket team has won the ODI World Cup two times, first in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev and second time in the year 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

Mahi is considered as one of the best captains that India has ever had and it was only under him that the Indian squad was able to break the jinx of 28 years. Though he used to bat lower down the order and played the role of a finisher in the team yet in the finals of the 2011 ICC World Cup, he promoted himself up the order and went to bat before Yuvraj Singh which was quite unusual.

Team India which was given the target of 275 by the Sri Lankan team was in trouble after losing Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar at the score of 31/2. However, Gautam Gambir (97) and MS Dhoni (91*) played exceptional knocks and helped their team in winning the finals.

Recently the former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh who was the player of the tournament disclosed the reason behind MSD’s promotion up the order in the finals of the tournament. During an interview, he stated that sending MSD up the order was a team decision. He added that when Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were at the crease, Sachin, Mahi, Viru and Gary had a discussion as per which the left-right combination should be there at the crease because two off-spinners were bowling at that time. So it was decided that if Virat got out, Dhoni would go and if Gambhir got out, Yuvi would go next.

Now that was quite smart thinking, what do you say?

“When You Come To Mumbai, You Get A Reality Check,” Says SRH’s Shashank Singh On His Journey

Sunrisers Hyderabad had pretty disappointing IPL 2021 but in this season, it is performing pretty well and its players are also making headlines for their superb performances. While Umran Malik has been garnering praises for his lightning speed and fiery bowling, the SRH batter Shashank Singh impressed everyone with his blistering knock in the match against Gujarat Titans.

Though SRH lost that match yet Shashank Singh’s knock of 25 runs not out (6 balls, 1 four & 3 sixes) helped his team in scoring a good total of 195/6. Shashank who plays for Chhattisgarh at the domestic level was bought for Rs. 20 lakhs by the Hyderabad franchise and recently he talked about the early days of his career in an interview which has been shared by the official Twitter handle of SRH.

Shashank says that he has come from the small city of Bhopal and if someone is scoring good at the school and district level, he feels that he is very talented but he got the harsh reality check when he came to Mumbai at the age of 17. He added that when he went to Azad Maidan, Shivaji Park, etc., he saw that there are many players who are more talented than him, have more experience, scored more runs than him and are even younger to him. He went on to say that this opened his eyes and he started working harder.

He was also thankful to his family members as they believed in him and supported him in fulfilling his dream.

Here is the interview:
