KL Rahul Roasted Like Never Before For His ‘Felt Like A Win’ Tweet Post Loss Against GT

The two new IPL teams Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans contested against each other in their first IPL match and while Hardik Pandya must be on cloud nine as his team won the match, KL Rahul needs to analyze and learn from his mistakes as his captaincy seems to be a matter of concern to Lucknow fans.

The match was played on March 28 at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, the toss was won by Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants was told to bat first. The GT pacer Mohammed Shami was literally on fire as he dismissed the LSG skipper KL Rahul for a golden duck and then he also sent Quinton de Kock (7) and Manish Pandey (5) back to the dug-out quite early. There was a time when LSG had lost its four top-order batsmen at the score of 29 runs and it appeared as if the new IPL team would not be able to cross the three digit mark in its first match.

However, the two young cricketers Deepak Hooda (55 runs, 41 balls, 6 fours & 2 sixes) and Ayush Badoni (54 runs, 41 balls, 4 fours & 3 sixes) not only stabilized the innings but also ensured that their team reached a respectable total. Krunal Pandya also played a useful knock of 21 runs not out and helped his team in putting up 158/6 on the board.

Though Shubman Gill got out for a duck, Matthew Wade (30), Hardik Pandya (33) and David Miller (30) helped their team in cruising towards the target but the highlight of the GT innings was Rahul Tewatia’s knock of 40 runs not out (24 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes). GT achieved the target with 5 wickets in hand and 2 balls remaining in its innings. Mohammed Shami was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb performance.

It won’t be wrong to say that LSG made a brilliant comeback in the game but KL Rahul’s captaincy came under fire for the manner in which he used his bowlers, especially towards the climax of the game.

KL Rahul further attracted the ire of cricket fans when he made a tweet in which he stated, “This one felt like a win because of the way we fought. Proud”

Soon the micro-blogging site was flooded with reactions and here are some of the selected ones:

“It’s Like SRH Was Playing Test Match,” Fans Troll SRH For Lowest Powerplay Score In IPL’s History

Rajasthan Royals started its campaign for the IPL 2022 with a smashing win as it defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs in its first match which was played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

The toss was won by Kane Williamson led SRH which put in RR to bat first. The team from Rajasthan was given a good start by its openers as Jos Buttler (35) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (20) scored 58 runs for the first wicket partnership. RR skipper Sanju Samson thrashed the SRH bowlers to all the corners of the stadium as he scored 55 runs in just 27 balls. His innings included 3 fours and 5 sixes and he was given Player of the Match award for his amazing performance. Devdutt Padikkal (41) and Shimron Hetmyer (32) also played useful knocks and helped their team in putting up a good total of 210/6 in their stipulated 20 overs.

On the other hand, SRH had a very bad start as it lost its skipper Kane Williamson for a score of only 2 and another opener Abhishek Sharma also departed soon after scoring 9 runs. Things turned very ugly for SRH as its two top-order batsmen Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran were not even able to open their accounts and SRH was reeling at the score of 29/4 in the ninth over.

Situation for the Hyderabad franchise could have been worse if Aiden Markram (57 not out) and Washington Sundar (40) had not risen to the occasion and saved some respect for the team by helping it reach the total of 149/7 in 20 overs. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that the innings by Aiden and Washington Sundar provided some entertainment to the sad fans of SRH as they played quite quick knocks. While Aiden played 41 deliveries, Washington faced only 14 balls; if we talk about the big shots, they both smashed 5 fours each and 2 sixes each.

Fans were quite disappointed by this performance of the team and some of them even went on to call SRH the most boring team because they scored only 14 runs in powerplay which is the joint lowest total in the history of the IPL. SRH was not even able to score a boundary in the first 4.5 overs of its innings which certainly speaks a lot about the hitting skills of its batters.

Twitterati showed no hesitation in slamming SRH and some were of the opinion that SRH batters had batted as if they were playing test match. Check out some of the selected reactions:

Many fans were of the opinion that letting go of David Warner and Rashid Khan was the biggest mistake of the Hyderabad franchise as they both were important members of the squad and gave many match-winning performances for the team in the past.

Will SRH be able to make improvement in the future? What do you think? Let us know your views.

Chahal Opens Up On Ouster From RCB, “Fans Still Ask Me ‘Why Did You Ask For So Much Money?’”

Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian spinner, used to be an integral part of Royal Challengers Bangalore till the IPL 2021 and RCB fans were quite sure that Chahal would be one of the retentions but it didn’t happen. However, the biggest shock came when RCB didn’t even bid for Yuzi in the mega auction for the IPL 2022 and the spinner was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a price of Rs. 6.5 crore.

Yuzi is quite active on the social media networks and many fans have asked him what happened because of which he was neither retained nor purchased by RCB. Till now, Chahal refrained from speaking on this issue but recently during an interview with a leading daily, he spilled the beans and revealed his side of the story.

He says that he is very much emotionally attached with RCB and he never thought that he would ever play for any other franchise in his career. He adds that till date, many fans ask him as to why he has asked for so much money from the franchise because of which he is not a part of the team. He goes on to say that in reality, he did get a call from RCB Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson who told him (Chahal) that three players who have been retained are – Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj.

Chahal further added that neither he was asked whether he wanted to be retained nor they offered him retention, he was just told about the three retentions and was also told that the franchise would go for him in the auction. He also said that if he had been asked for retention from RCB, he would have said ‘Yes’ because money is not the primary concern for him. He added that while RCB gave him a big platform, the fans gave him lot of love and support.

He further said that whatever happens, he will always be loyal to his fans from Bangalore as he loves them a lot. Yuzvendra Chahal also talked about his conversation with the former skipper of RCB, Virat Kohli after he was bought by RR. According to Yuzi, Virat said, “Royal toh hai hi tu” (You are already a Royal).

Yuzi has played 114 IPL matches, out of which 113 he has played in the RCB jersey and he has taken 139 wickets while playing for RCB from 2014 till 2021. Though Chahal hasn’t played a match for RR till date, he was a part of the franchise in 2010.

We wish all the best to Yuzvendra Chahal on his new beginning!

Fans Discuss Why MS Dhoni Is Seen Wearing His Vintage Orange Gloves Again In IPL 2022

MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batsman who is already retired from the international cricket will soon be saying goodbye to the IPL, however there is nothing known about his timing of taking the decision.

Fans of Mahi were quite happy when Chennai Super Kings retained MSD before the mega-auction for the IPL 2022 as it gave them hope that they would get to see their favourite cricketer play at least for three more years. However, Dhoni surprised everyone when he announced the decision of leaving the captaincy of CSK just couple of days before the IPL 2022 started and Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the new skipper of the team.

While it is being said that MSD will play for CSK for 2 years more, fans are in doubt after seeing Dhoni using orange color wicket-keeping gloves in place of his usual camouflage gloves that have Indian army insignia. Fans were quick to recall that this type of orange gloves was worn by the former CSK skipper when he started his international career, the time when he had stylish long hair. This has made some fans feel that the IPL 2022 may be the last IPL of Mahi, however nothing can be said with confirmation until Dhoni makes a statement about it.

Here are some selected reactions from the Indian cricket fans:

MS Dhoni led CSK since the inaugural edition of 2008 (except 2016 & 2017 when CSK was banned) and in this duration, the franchise has played 9 finals under him and has won 4 out of them. He is the second most successful skipper of the league after Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma who has 5 IPL title wins to his name. Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy stint has started with a defeat as CSK lost to KKR in the first match, the Chennai franchise will play its second match on March 31 against the new IPL team Lucknow Super Giants.

Is IPL 2022 Dhoni’s last IPL? What do you think? Let us know your views.

Wasim Jaffer Gave A Kickass Reply To Vaughan For Indirectly Targeting Indian Women Cricket Team

Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer has a great sense of humour and he can be savage at times, especially when it comes to Michael Vaughan, the former England cricketer as the latter is quite critical of the Indian cricket team.

England men’s cricket team has been going through a very rough patch as in the last 17 test matches, it has been able to win only 1 test match. Recently, the English squad lost the 3-match test series to West Indies by 1-0 and it suffered a humiliating defeat in the final test match.

The English batters never seemed settled in the test match which was played at the National Cricket Stadium, Grenada, as in the first innings, the whole team got out at just 204 runs and in the second innings, it touched a new low as the English side got wrapped up at 120 runs. The West Indian team scored 297 runs in its first innings and in the second innings, it needed only 28 runs to win the match which it did without losing a wicket and hence it won the test match by 10 wickets.

When the England cricket team got out at the score of 120 runs, Wasim Jaffer took a jibe at Michael Vaughan by posting an image which featured the list of players who scored most runs this year for England and Extras was at the third position in the list. Jaffer tweeted, “England 120 all out! What happened @MichaelVaughan was this Extras guy unavailable due to IPL or what? 😜 #WIvENG #IPL2022”

In response, Michael Vaughan took a dig at Jaffer in regard to India’s ouster from the Women’s World Cup. On March 27, India and South Africa clashed against each other in a very exciting and thrilling encounter, the former lost the match and the chances of India entering the semis got over with this defeat. The four teams that have made it to the semi-finals of Women’s World Cup are Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies.

Michael Vaughan tweeted, “Wasim.. At the moment we are focusing on the Womens World Cup semis.. !!”

When everyone thought that Michael Vaughan gave an epic reply to Wasim Jaffer, the latter made a comeback with an evil response as he tweeted, “With just 1 win in last 17 Tests, not surprised you have given up on the men’s team Michael 😜 #WIvENG #IPL2022”

Well, Wasim Jaffer has once again hit the ball out of the stadium, what do you say?

When Parthiv Patel Told Virat About Bumrah & Kohli Said, “Ye Bumrah-Vumrah Kya Karenge”

The Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah who is also the vice-captain of the team has become an integral part of the Indian cricket squad and it won’t be wrong to say that the former skipper Virat Kohli also played an important role in Jasprit Bumrah’s rise as he supported him completely.

Recently, Bumrah completed 10 years with his IPL team Mumbai Indians and this is certainly a big achievement which speaks a lot about the support and backing that MI gives to its players. However, you will be surprised to know that Virat Kohli gave a negative reaction when he was first told about Jasprit Bumrah by his former teammate.

Former RCB player and former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel appeared in an interview on a sports website and he revealed that Virat refused to even give a chance to Bumrah when Parthiv told him about the pacer.

Parthiv Patel has seen Bumrah’s rise from very close quarters as the former was the skipper of the latter in the domestic cricket. He said that in 2014, he asked Virat to take a look at Jasprit Bumrah and in response, Kohli said, “Chhor na yaar. Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge?” (Leave it. What will such players like Bumrah-Vumrah do?)

Parthiv Patel stated that 2013 was Jasprit Bumrah’s first year in Ranji Trophy, 2014 was not good for the pacer and then 2015 was so bad that the possibility of sending him back was also discussed. He further said that slowly Bumrah’s game started improving because of his hard work and the support that he got from his franchise Mumbai Indians which resulted in bringing the best out of him.

Jasprit Bumrah made his ODI and T20I debut in the year 2016 and in 70 ODIs and 57 T20Is, he has taken 113 and 67 wickets, respectively. He made his test debut in the year 2018 and in the 29 test matches that he has played, he has taken 123 wickets.

Boom Boom Bumrah!!!!
