The former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is the only skipper who has won three major ICC trophies (2007 ICC T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy) and he enjoys a huge fan following all across the globe. What makes Mahi different from other cricketers or skippers is his temperament and cool attitude as it has been very rare to see him in an angry mood.
Many former cricketers admire MS Dhoni and the former Indian cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri is also one of them. During a conversation with former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar on his YouTube channel, Ravi Shastri talks about the players whom he has dealt with during his coaching career.
Ravi Shastri compares Virat Kohli to a beast when he is on the field who wants to compete and doesn’t think of anything else. He also talks about Rohit Sharma and says that he is pretty laidback just like MS Dhoni but Shastri also states that Mahi is beyond reality because he is not affected even if someone gets out for a duck or scores a century or even the team lifts the World Cup. As per Ravi Shastri, even Sachin Tendulkar had a great temperament but he also used to get angry at times; however, he never saw Dhoni getting furious. The former Indian head coach further adds that he does not have MS Dhoni’s phone number till date because he has never asked for it as he knows that Mahi does not carry a phone with him.
As far as Virat Kohli’s captaincy decisions are concerned, Ravi Shastri said that when Kohli gave up his T20 captaincy, he (Shastri) felt that it was the right decision to quit the white ball captaincy because leading the team in all the three formats can be pretty daunting, especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemic but he was left surprised when Virat Kohli quit the test captaincy. However at the same time, Shastri added that a player’s decision should be respected. He also suggests that Virat Kohli should take a break from cricket as it will help him understand his new role as a batsman in a better manner.

MS Dhoni is also the second most successful skipper in the IPL as Chennai Super Kings has won the IPL title four times under his leadership and he has been retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 auction which means that he will be leading CSK in this league at least.

The IPL 2022 will be bigger than ever as this time, there will be 10 teams instead of 8 as Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added as 2 new franchises. Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG)-owned Lucknow franchise recently revealed some details about them such as KL Rahul will be their skipper and he will be paid Rs. 17 crores, the other two players who have been roped in by them are Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis (Rs. 9.2 crores) and Indian cricketer Ravi Bishnoi (Rs. 4 crores). The Lucknow franchise has also appointed the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir as their team mentor and it also revealed their name – Lucknow Super Giants.
The name of the Lucknow franchise made Twitter pretty active as Sanjiv Goenka also owned the Pune franchise which was named as Rising Pune Supergiants and both the names are quite similar. RPS played for two years (2016-2017) only and during this period, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were banned for two years. Initially the name of the Pune franchise was Rising Pune Supergiants but after one year, it omitted “s” from its name and its new name was Rising Pune Supergiant.
After the name of the Lucknow franchise was revealed, the official Twitter handle of Rajasthan Royals reacted on this matter with a meme featuring Paresh Rawal.

The Indian cricket has seen quite a few controversies in the recent past which were related to the captaincy saga of Virat Kohli and it has certainly affected the performance of team India too as they lost both 3-match test series and 3-match ODI series against South Africa by 2-1 and 3-0, respectively.
Earlier Virat Kohli gave up his T20 captaincy citing workload pressure and then he was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the ODI skipper. What turned things uglier were the contradictory statements which were made by Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. While the former stated that he personally tried to convince the latter not to give up the T20 captaincy but he refused, Virat Kohli stated that no one asked him to reconsider his decision, in fact it was termed as a progressive step.
Virat Kohli shocked everyone once again when he gave up his test captaincy after India lost the third and the final test match of the series against South Africa and also lost the series by 3-0 as well. It is being said that Virat Kohli and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are not on good terms and recently, the former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev under whose captaincy India won the first ODI World Cup opened up on this matter. He asked both the BCCI and Virat Kohli to chat together and let bygones be bygones as this is what is good for the Indian cricket.
During an interview, Kapil Dev stated that when Virat Kohli gave up his T20 captaincy, people thought he had a lot to handle but whatever has been written and spoken about it, it is quite certain that nobody wanted him to leave the captaincy but it was his decision and everyone should respect it. Talking about the relations between the BCCI and Virat Kohli, Kapil Dev said that they should sit together, talk to each other and solve all the issues. He further said that both the parties should keep the nation before themselves. Kapil Dev also added that Virat Kohli should be a little patient with the BCCI because not every time a skipper gets whatever he wants and he (Kapil Dev) has nothing to say if this is why Virat Kohli has left the captaincy.
Kapil Dev hopes that Virat Kohli excels as a batter in the future as he may seem to be in a good touch during the South African tour but it has been around 2 years that he hasn’t scored a century in all the formats of the game.
Virat Kohli is the most successful test captain of India as under his captaincy, team India played 68 test matches and won 40 out of them. The Indian squad was at number seven in test rankings when Virat Kohli became captain and under his leadership, the team reached the top spot but at the same time, it is also true that he hasn’t been able to win any ICC trophy in his career. If we talk about the IPL, his record is not good over there as well because he has been associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore since the inaugural edition of 2008 and has led the team from 2013 to 2021 but RCB hasn’t won an IPL title till date.

Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers of all times and his wife Anushka Sharma is also a famous Bollywood actress-producer so it is not at all surprising if they both make headlines but in the recent past, they both have been creating buzz for some not-so-good reasons.
First, Virat Kohli was involved in a controversy related to the ODI captaincy, then his behavior in the third and final test match was slammed by cricket fans and former cricketers and after that, he surprised everyone by quitting the test captaincy as well. Now, one more controversy is going on as Virushka’s daughter Vamika was captured by a cameraman during the live telecast of the third and final ODI of the 3-match ODI series which India lost by 3-0.
Recently, the former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar created a controversy when he hinted that Virat Kohli is going through tough times due to his marriage with Anushka Sharma and instead of getting married, Virat should have focused on his game. During an interview, Shoaib Akhtar said that Virat Kohli should have focused on the game of cricket for 10-12 years rather than tying the knot because this time won’t come back. He stated that if he had been in Virat’s place, he would not have got hitched but on the contrary, he would have scored runs and enjoyed the game. He adds that he doesn’t mean to say getting married is wrong, he only wants to say that if you are playing cricket for India, you should enjoy cricket more.
Shoaib Akhtar elaborates further by saying that a cricketer has to deal with the pressure of the family and kids and as the responsibility increases, the pressure on the cricketer increases as well which affects his performance. He further states that the career of a cricketer is of 14-15 years and for 5-6 years, he is at the peak of his career. Talking about Virat, Shoaib Akhtar says that Virat has already passed his peak and now he will have to struggle and in his opinion, a cricket captain should get hitched only after taking retirement.
This is not the first time that Anushka Sharma has been blamed for poor performance of Virat Kohli. Soon after this interview, the fans of Virushka came out in support of Anushka Sharma and slammed Shoaib Akhtar for his comments, asking him to stop making comments on someone’s personal life.

The famous power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma has always maintained that they don’t want their daughter Vamika to be clicked by media and for this purpose, they have also made requests to media houses in the past. However in the third and the final ODI against South Africa, the broadcaster SuperSport showed Anushka and Vamika during the live telecast of the match. Anushka was seen holding Vamika in her hands and they both were cheering for Virat Kohli who scored a brilliant half-century in the match. Soon the photos of Vamika were published by some media houses and they also started getting circulated on the social media networks.
After that, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram story and posted a statement in which she wrote that they were caught off-guard as they weren’t aware that the camera was on them and their previous request related to privacy stands the same.
The text on the post read, “Hi guys! We realise that our daughter’s images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stay the same. We would really appreciate it if Vamika’s images are not clicked/ published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you.”
Later on, the same text was posted by Virat Kohli as well and some social media users thought of having fun by posting memes and jokes in this regard and by trolling the cameraman who captured Anushka and Vamika.
