One more Indian beauty made the country proud as Harnaaz Sandhu got crowned as the Miss Universe 2021 in the beauty contest which took place in Eilat, Israel. Harnaaz Sandhi is a Punjabi model and actress who has become the 70th Miss Universe after defeating 79 contestants. It is after 21 years that an Indian beauty queen has won the Miss Universe title as Lara Dutta was the last one to get crowned as Miss Universe in 2000.

Soon the social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages for Sandhu but there were some who had different opinion about her win and one of them was this gentleman who compared Harnaaz Sandhu’s achievement with Neeraj Chopra’s achievement.
Neeraj Chopra is an Indian athlete who made the country proud by winning a Gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics in the javelin throw event. He is the second Indian sportsperson to win an individual Gold medal in the Olympics after Abhinav Bindra.

The online user wanted to demean Harnaaz Sandhu’s achievement by showing that she wore a bikini in that event. He wrote, “How boys think they can make their country proud, How girls think they can make their country proud”.

Here is his tweet:
Soon people started reacting on this tweet and one of them was a famous Twitter user The Skin Doctor who responded with, “The male guy on the left won a medal at the world stage whereas the female girl on the right won the crown at universe stage. What is bigger universe or world? Unless you had missed your science classes, you’ll agree with me that your analysis is wrong.”
In response, the hater wrote, “How can they declare her miss universe when there were no content from Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn??? Also competition lost its importance where only female girls are participants.”
After the second tweet of man, people started making more fun of him. Here are some selected reactions:

Well, this guy certainly needs some kind of counseling or he might have done it just for the sake of some cheap publicity. What do you think?

The Indian cricket team will be leaving for South Africa on December 16 and before that, the Indian cricketers are spending their three days quarantine period in Mumbai. The Indian batter Mayank Agarwal is also a part of the squad so he decided to interact with his followers on Instagram by conducting the ‘Ask Me Anything’ session.

While the followers of Mayank Agarwal asked various questions to him, the Indian spinner and Mayank’s friend Axar Patel also made up mind to have some fun so he posed as a fan and asked, “Mayank sir big fan aap apne fans ke liye kya kehna chahoge?” (Mayank Sir, I am a big fan of yours, what you will like to say to your fans?)
Mayank Agarwal was also in a great mood and he gave a wonderful reply as he wrote, “Keep supporting and believing. Bas left arm spin mat daalo, bahut stiff competition hai.” (Don’t bowl left-arm spin because the competition is very tough.)

Axar Patel responded with, “Oye hoye hoye hoye what a player”.
Though Axar Patel has emerged as a good spinner of the present times, he was not able to get a place in the Indian squad for the South African tour. In the five test matches that Axar Patel has played for the country, he has taken 36 wickets and five times he has taken a five wicket haul which speaks highly of his capability to take wickets. If we talk about ODIs and T20Is, he has taken 45 and 13 wickets in 38 ODIs and 15 T20Is, respectively.

The former Kiwi cricketer Craig McMillan has also praised the Indian spinner as well as talked about why Axar Patel has not got place in the Indian squad for overseas tours. According to McMillan, though not much is said and talked about Axar Patel yet the spinner has a great record. He adds that there is no doubt he is getting overshadowed by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja because of which he doesn’t get selected for the foreign tours as India usually plays two spinners overseas but in home conditions, India plays with three spinners and this is when he plays an important role in the team.
Axar Patel certainly has a bright future. What do you say?

Cricket commentators may sit in the studios but they certainly make cricket viewing more interesting and entertaining for the audiences with their expert opinions and comments. However, there are times when a commentator says something which makes others laugh but leaves him/her in an embarrassing situation.

Isa Guha, the former English cricketer turned commentator faced similar sort of situation when she asked a double meaning question. She is presently a part of the commentary panel for the ongoing Australia’s Big Bash League 2021-22. She along with former Aussie cricketer turned commentator Adam Gilchrist and a fellow commentator were having a discussion on the carrom ball and the criteria that coaches look for in the potential candidates for bowling the carrom ball.
The fellow commentator said that the spin bowling coaches ask the candidates to show their middle fingers and the guy with the longest middle finger is selected for bowling the carrom ball. After this, Isa asked the fellow commentator, “How big is yours?” and as soon as she said this, everyone including Gilchrist and fellow commentator were left in splits. Though Isa Guha was talking about the middle finger, it was taken in another reference and she had a face-palm moment.

The video of the conversation was shared by the English cricketer Alexandra Hartley with the caption, “A reasonable question from @isaguha” with laughing emojis and Isa Guha also retweeted it with the caption, “Valid – for carrom ball purposes only…”
As far as the BBL is concerned, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars have made a pretty good start to the tournament and many fans are expecting Sydney Sixers to win this time again as it has already won the trophy three times earlier.
Somebody correctly said that a person needs to be more careful about what not to speak rather than what to speak. Agree?

The Indian cricket has been marred with controversies in the recent past and it all started with Rohit Sharma being appointed as the skipper of the Indian ODI team and the vice-captain of the Indian test squad. Though there were talks of rifts between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli earlier as well, it got stronger after there were reports that Virat Kohli asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to let him take a break after the test series against South African because of which he would not be available for the 3-match ODI series which India will play on the South African tour. Rohit Sharma was already ruled out of the 3-match test series on this tour as he has suffered hamstring injury but reports about Virat’s break gave enough fodder to mediapersons and people from the cricket fraternity to talk about the tension in the Indian dressing room.

Things got so complicated that Virat Kohli had to come forward in order to clear the air and on 15th December just before the departure of team India to South Africa, he attended a virtual press conference. On being about the rift between him and Rohit Sharma, Virat says that he has been tired of saying it for more than 2.5 years that there is no problem between him and Hitman. He also makes it clear that whatever he does, he will never do anything which will be disadvantageous for the team.
Talking about the rumours as per which he will not play in the ODIs as he is taking break, Virat Kohli says that he has never asked the BCCI to give him break, adding that he was and he is always available for the selection as he is very much interested in playing in the ODIs. He tells the mediapersons to ask questions regarding this to those people or sources who have been writing about it and are not credible at all.
Virat Kohli also added that he was called by the selectors around one and a half hour prior to the selection of the test team for South Africa. He said that after they discussed about the test squad, just before ending the call, he was informed that the five selectors have taken the decision that he won’t be leading the team in the ODIs anymore. Virat Kohli cleared it that it was the first time he was informed about the decision of the ODI captaincy and there was no communication earlier in this regard.

Talking about his desire to lead the team in the ODIs even after leaving the T20Is captaincy, Virat Kohli stated that the decision of quitting the T20I captaincy was taken in a good manner by the BCCI and it was called a progressive step. As per him, he informed the board that he would like to lead the team in the remaining two formats – ODIs and tests but he also made it clear to the board that he is fine if they feel like appointing another person as the skipper in his place.
India will play its first test match against South Africa from 26th December and the 3-match ODI series will start from January 19. Earlier India and South Africa were also slated to play 4 T20Is but now they have been rescheduled for next year.
Hopefully, all the rumours and controversies will get quashed now.

The social media platforms have become quite an important part of our lives and it has also enabled the celebs in having an interaction with their fans and followers. However, some negative points are also associated in regard to social media and there have been times when the celebrities have to bear a lot despite having no fault of theirs.

Recently, the former South African cricketer Dale Steyn became the target of trollers when he made a little delay in wishing Nathan Lyon on his achievement of taking 400 wickets in the test cricket. The Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon has become the fourth Australian bowler to achieve this feat and he has reached the 400 mark after taking the wicket of England cricketer Dawid Malan on the fourth day of the first test match of the Ashes series 2021-22.
While the whole cricket fraternity and cricket lovers made no delay in congratulating the Aussie spinner, Dale Steyn got a little late in congratulating him. Dale Steyn took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “Take a bow Nathan Lyon 400 strong! Keep going bud! Congratulations”.
Soon, many Twitter users started commenting about the delay that he made in wishing Nathan Lyon and in response, Dale Steyn revealed that he was late because his grandfather departed from the world and he was with his family in these tough times. His tweet read, “Yes I apologize as my grandfather passed away and I was with him and my family during that time.”
While majority of online users expressed their condolences, there were still few who commented that he should have wished Nathan Lyon earlier and in response, Dale Steyn made a sarcastic tweet and took a dig at such online users. The former South African pacer apologizes for being late and says that from the next time, he will ensure that cricket comes first and his family after it.

This is what Dale Steyn tweeted, “Some silly banter going around as I’m a little late in congratulating Nathan for his 400th poll. My apologies, I’ll be sure to put my family tragedies aside next time as cricket is clearly more important.”
We feel that at least in such tough times, netizens should leave the celebs alone.

It’s safe to say that a movie which broke music records at a global level and united the Indian audience across all borders while attracting the global populous, needs no introduction for it’s premier on Colors Cineplex. This movie has managed to create a buzz which led to our Indian artists featuring in US charts and in the post-covid world, defined a hit far bigger than the one seen in a pre-covid world. Do we need any more description for you to guess the movie?

Shershaah, starring Bollywood’s sizzling chemistry between Sidharth Malhotra & Kiara Advani released on 12th August 2021 and got showered with love from Bollywood fans and praise from movie critiques. The movie paid an ode to India’s hero, Captain Vikram Batra who fought in the Kargil war and laid his life for the country. Needless to say, Sidharth Malhotra’s acting, the direction and the cinematography did justice & left no stone unturned in delivering a movie that could match the heroism shown by the Captain.
The songs Ranjha & Raataan Lambiyan from the movie also featured on the Billboard Global Excl US Charts of which Raataan Lambiyan stayed on for a longer duration on the list.
The music has been reigning over hearts and continues to be a hit in everyone’s recently-played playlist. The songs also opened up the world as a stage for the singers which has definitely proved to be momentous.
What is also commendable is the personality of the actors starring in the movie. Sidharth Malhotra with his boy-ish charm has played the perfect Punjabi lad and fit perfectly into the role, matching his reel and real life persona quite well. While Kiara Advani plays a devote Sikh, her acting and personality style compliments the role and adds depth to the plot.
The primal reason for the movie being such a hit is definitely the fact that the movie is based on a real-life story. A story which was deep-rooted and stems out of an ode to a hero who gave his life to the country adds on the feeling of patriotism that one feels while watching the movie. If you’re watching it for the first time, we’d recommend you sit with a box of tissues because we are sure you are to be moved to tears in no time. The movie packs a punch with suspense, thriller, romance and gives you a sense of devout patriotism to a hero which the world witnessed like no other.

There are no short-cuts to be successful and if you want to make your dreams come true, determination and hard work are the two most important factors to be taken into consideration. It’s rightly said that where there’s a will, there’s a way and Rohit Negi is the perfect example of the same.

Rohit Negi is basically from Kotdwar, a small town in Uttarakhand, and he hails from a poor family of farmers. It was not easy for him to pursue his education but he overcame all the odds and presently he is a student of M.Tech second year in IIT-Guwahati.
He is all over the news presently because he has been offered a huge package of Rs. 2.05 crore (CTC) by the multinational firm Uber. Rohit Negi will be joining Uber as a software engineer after completing his studies and his basic salary is said to be Rs. 96 lakhs.

It won’t be wrong to say that Rohit and his parents sacrificed a lot to see this big day. After getting the offer, Rohit states that he comes from a lower middle-class family and the monthly expenses of his family are even less than 10K. He tells that his father is a farmer, mother is a homemaker and his sister works as a nurse and his family is very happy with the offer that he has got from Uber.
Though, Rohit Negi didn’t get good grades in his graduation which he did from a private engineering college in Uttarakhand, he worked hard and managed to get good rank in GATE because of which he got admission in IIT-Guwahati.

This is the first time that anyone in Kotdwar has received such a high package and the entire village of Ramdayalpur, Kotdwar, is celebrating the achievement of Rohit Negi.
Congratulations Rohit! We wish you a lot more success!
