Andrew Flintoff, the former England cricketer who now works as an English Television and Radio presenter is certainly one of the best all-rounders that we have seen on the cricket field. The 44 years old former cricketer who is considered as a legend in the English cricketing circuits made his international debut in 1998. He represented his country till the year 2010 and during this period, he gave many match-winning performances.

Andrew Flintoff played 79 test matches, 141 ODIs and & 7 T20Is in which he scored 3845, 3394 and 76 runs, respectively. In his international career, Andrew Flintoff scored 8 centuries (5 in test matches and 3 in ODIs) and 44 half-centuries (26 in test matches and 18 in ODIs). As far as his bowling stats are concerned, he took 226 wickets in test matches, 169 wickets in ODIs and 5 in T20Is.

However, Andrew Flintoff’s association with the Indian Premier League has been pretty short as he played only three matches for Chennai Super Kings in his IPL career in which he scored a total of 62 runs and took 2 wickets.

Recently, Andrew Flintoff faced an embarrassing situation when he met a young cricket fan from UK who wasn’t even aware of the fact that Andrew Flintoff is a former international cricketer. The cricket fan asks Flintoff whether he follows cricket and which team he supports in the IPL.

In response, Andrew Flintoff states that he supports CSK and also discloses it to the youngster that he has even played for the Chennai franchise in the year 2008. After this, the young fan gave a surprised look and said that in 2008, he didn’t follow cricket as he was a kid at that time.

Venkatesh Iyer who plays for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic cricket and for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL paid tribute to Rajinikanth on his 71^st birthday by copying the signature salute of the superstar after completing his century in match which was played between Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy yesterday. Venkatesh Iyer also imitated the manner in which Rajinikanth wears his glasses in the movies.

As far as the match is concerned, Madhya Pradesh won it by 5 runs. Batting first, MP posted a good total of 331/9 on the score board in its 50 overs with the help of Iyer’s sensational innings of 151 for which he played only 113 balls. In response, Chandigarh managed to score 326/8 in its stipulated 50 overs and lost the match despite the fact that its two batsmen – Manan Vohra and Ankit Kaushik scored centuries.

In the IPL 2021, Venkatesh Iyer scored 370 runs at an average of around 40 and played an important role in taking his team to the finals which it lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Venkatesh Iyer has made his debut for the national team as well and there is no denying the fact that he will be an important part of the Indian squad in limited overs cricket.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented the concept of split captaincy in the Indian cricket as it has decided to hand over the responsibility of captaincy of limited overs cricket to Rohit Sharma. Earlier Virat Kohli gave up the captaincy of India’s T20I team citing the workload pressure but he made it clear that he would like to lead the ODI and test teams.

However, the BCCI and Virat Kohli were not on the same platform as the board wanted to appoint one skipper for the limited overs cricket because of which Kohli was asked to voluntarily quit the ODI captaincy which he refused. As per reports, there was a fall-out between Virat Kohli and the BCCI and the board had to sack the former ODI skipper who will still lead India in the test cricket. It is being said that Virat Kohli was also not happy with the decision of the board to appoint Rohit Sharma as the new vice-captain of the Indian test team in place of Ajinkya Rahane.

Recently, Rohit Sharma gave an interview which you can watch on the website of the BCCI in which Hitman called all the rumours regarding fall-out and tension as baseless. In the video that has been shared by the board on the micro-blogging site Twitter, Rohit Sharma is seen saying that when a player plays for India, the pressure will always be there and it will be high as well. He adds that many people will talk about it, while some will say positive things, several others will choose to spread negativity.

Hitman further says that as a cricketer, focusing on his job is far more important rather than to focus on what people are saying because it is not something which is in his control. He also states that he has spoken a million times earlier and he will keep on repeating it so that the team understands it clearly that whenever they will play a big tournament, there will be many things which will be said about them.

The skipper of the IPL team Mumbai Indians also adds that he will try his best to provide a good environment to the players in the dressing room and it is important to lay all the focus on going out and win matches in the manner which is known best to them and no importance should be given to the outside talks. Rohit Sharma also states that he wants the players to share good bond with each other as it will help them in performing well on the field too.

In his first assignment as the full-time skipper, Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly as the team won the three-match T20I series against New Zealand by 3-0.

A quite bizarre case of stolen identity has come to light in which a 48 years old mother stole the identity of her daughter with whom she was not on good terms and she just used it for joining college, taking student loans and making boyfriends half of her age. In simple words, she was living the life of her daughter and surprisingly, nobody around her was able to find out that she was not 22 yrs old young girl but a middle-aged woman of 48.

Laura Oglesby, a woman in Missouri, US, cheated the federal government and also the people of the small town of Mountain View by imposing as Lauren Hays, her 22 yrs old daughter. In the year 2016, Laura managed to get the Social Security Card in the name of her daughter and after that, the woman who was 43 yrs old at that time posed as her daughter and started living a fake life.

Laura then took admission in the Southwest Baptist University and also applied for the financial aid. Soon, she received $9,400 under the federal student loans, $5,920 and $1,863 under Pell Grants and finance charges, respectively. Laura applied for a driving license in her daughter’s name and also worked in the local library where everyone knew her as Lauren Hays. If this was not enough, she seduced guys half of her age and dated them. She also created a Snapchat account in her daughter’s name in which she posted many photos with filters posing as a young girl.

During this time, she moved in with a local couple, Avery and Wendy Parker, who always felt that Laura Oglesby was a young girl who had been in an abusive relationship in the past and she just wanted to get over it.

The scam came into light in 2018 when Arkansas authorities got in touch with the police of Mountain View in relation to the frauds committed by Laura Oglesby in the name of her daughter Lauren Hays. In the beginning, Laura Oglesby denied her involvement in any such crime but later on she confessed it all and got arrested.

Detective Stetson Schwien informed mediapersons that Laura transformed herself into a young person completely by adopting the dressing style, makeup style and living style of the young generation.

Laura Oglesby is accused of embezzlement of funds worth $25K (Rs. 19 lakh) and she will probably serve five years in prison without parole. Moreover, she will also need to pay a total amount of $17,521 (Rs 13 lakh) in restitution to her daughter and educational university.

The coronavirus pandemic has changed our working style to a great extent as working from home has become the new normal now and many companies are still making their employees work from home despite the fact that the situation has improved considerably so as to minimize any risk of infection. The thing that needs to be given a little thought is the fact that with the change in working culture, it is quite obvious that there has to be some change in the rules, regulations and policies as well.

A German man whose name is not known was working from home as usual but while going towards his workplace from his bed, he fell from the stairs and suffered a back injury. The victim claimed that it was a workplace accident as he was commuting for work but he was denied insurance from his employer.

The employee took the legal route and after facing defeats in two lower courts, he finally got the judgment in his favor in the higher federal social court, Kassel, which looks into the social security issues.

The court was told by the victim that he usually starts working even before having breakfast and the court ruled that the accident that took place during the first journey to the work is workplace accident.

However, the court also makes it clear that anything which happens on the subsequent journey for having breakfast would not be covered under the employer’s insurance.

It is quite an important observation by the court and hopefully the Indian employers as well as the courts will also think in the same manner.
