Virat Kohli’s Old Tweet From 2011 Resurfaces After India Lost To New Zealand, Twitter Pokes Fun

The Indian cricket team’s disaster runs in the ICC T20 World Cup continues as it suffered a big defeat against New Zealand in its consecutive second match which was played yesterday at Dubai International Stadium. India is at the fifth spot in the group which comprises of 6 teams and its chances of making it to the semi-finals are very less now after this loss. Earlier, the Indian squad lost its first match to Pakistan and that was a humiliating defeat as Pakistanis won that game by 10 wickets.

As far as the match against New Zealand is concerned, India started losing from the very beginning as first they lost the toss and then the Kiwis invited India to bat first. Amidst this, an old tweet of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is going viral in which he wrote, “Sad for the loss 🙁 going home now”.

Though this tweet was made in 2011, it fits in the present situation quite well and Twitter has been trolling him over it. Here are some of the selected reactions:

India made some changes in its squad for the match against New Zealand and Ishan Kishan was included in the team who opened the innings with KL Rahul. However, nothing worked as the Kiwi bowlers made it impossible for the Indian batters to score runs and the Indian side lost wickets regularly as a result of which it could manage to put a meager score of 110 runs on the board. The target was achieved by the Black Caps in just 14.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

After the match, Virat Kohli talked about the match and accepted that the Indian team was brave enough neither with the bat nor with the ball. He added that their body language was also not brave enough in comparison to the body language of the Kiwi players and the intensity of the Kiwis was also higher than that of the Indian team.

Kohli further said that every time the Indian batters tried to increase the run rate, a wicket fell and this happened because there was hesitation in the batters whether to go for a big one or not. As per the Indian skipper, one reason behind the hesitation is that there are huge expectations from a cricketer who plays for India as people come to watch them in the stadiums and every player has to cope up with this pressure.

Virat Kohli emphasizes on remaining positive and taking calculated risks. He also states that team India needs to disconnect from the pressure and play some positive cricket as there is still a lot of cricket remaining in the tournament.

Do you think India will make it to the semi-finals? Let us know your views.

UN WFP Director Says 2% Of Elon Musk’s Wealth Could Solve World Hunger, Elon Musk Responds

Elon Musk, the entrepreneur and business tycoon, is the world’s richest person and recently the Executive Director of UN World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley has made a tweet on how Elon Musk can help in solving the world’s hunger problem.

Representational Image

During an interview, David Beasley stated that $6-billion donation from the top two richest persons Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos will be of great use in helping those 42 million people who may lose their lives if UN doesn’t reach to them.

The total net worth of Elon Musk is said to be $289 billion and $6 billion is just 2 percent of his total wealth.

Soon David Beasley’s statement attracted reactions and Dr. Eli David, the researcher and founder of Deep Instinct, took a jibe at Beasley when he tweeted,

“Fact check:  2% of @elonmusk’s wealth is $6B

In 2020 the UN World Food Program (WFP) raised $8.4B. How come it didn’t ‘solve world hunger’?”

Shortly Elon Musk also reacted on it and promised to sell the stocks of Tesla if WFP explains how it will solve the problem of world hunger. Elon Musk’s tweet read, “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”

Elon Musk also demanded that the accounting process should be open so that public should be able to see how money is spent. He tweeted, “But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.”

David Beasley also notices the tweet of Elon Musk and he makes it clear that he never meant to say $6 billion will solve the problem of world hunger but it is a one-time donation which can help them save 42 million lives from a type of serious hunger crisis which the world has never faced before.

He tweeted, “@DrEliDavid, We’ve never said $6B would solve world hunger. This is a one-time donation to save 42 million lives during this unprecedented hunger crisis.”

In another tweet, he wrote, “@elonmusk! Headline not accurate. $6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation. An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to Covid/conflict/climate crises.”

https://twitter.com/WFPChief/status/1454883966071230472”

He also responded on the question made by Dr. Eli David regarding $8.4 billion which was raised by WFP in 2020 as he stated, “The $8.4B you refer to covers what we needed to reach 115 million people in 2020 with food assistance. We need $6B plus NOW on top of our existing funding requirements due to the perfect storm from the compounding impact of COVID, conflict and climate shocks.”

In one of his tweets, David Beasley also assured Elon Musk that accounting will be transparent and he offered Musk’s team to work with his team in order to ensure that money is spent in a proper way.

His tweet read, “I can assure you that we have the systems in place for transparency and open source accounting. Your team can review and work with us to be totally confident of such.”

Let’s see how things will proceed further and they come up with a solution to the problem.

Michael Vaughan Trolls Wasim Jaffer Over India’s Loss To NZ, Jaffer’s Reply Will ROFL You

The Indian cricket team lost its second consecutive match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against New Zealand which was played yesterday at Dubai International Stadium.

The Kiwis won the toss and asked India to bat first. The Indian batters performed very poorly as the whole team managed only 110/7 in the stipulated 20 overs and the way they batted, cricket fans were not able to believe that this is the same team which was considered as the favorites for winning the tournament. The Black Caps achieved the target of 111 runs in just 14.3 overs and won the match comfortably by 8 wickets.

Earlier in its first match of the tournament, the Indian squad suffered a humiliating defeat against Pakistan and fans were really hoping that India would make a strong comeback but the manner in which the Indian side played against New Zealand, all the hopes of cricket lovers must have got thrashed.

The former England cricketer Michael Vaughan used India’s poor performance as an opportunity to take a dig at the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer as they both often engage in Twitter banters.

Michael Vaughan tweeted, “How are you @WasimJaffer14?”

Wasim Jaffer who is known for his funny tweets replies with a still from the American sitcom Friends in which the character Ross doesn’t look in the good condition and replies in a squeaky voice that he is fine.

Wasim Jaffer tried to troll Michael Vaughan earlier when the latter predicted that the final of the tournament would be between England and Pakistan.

Vaughan tweeted, “England are an outstanding T20 Team.. So much clarity in everything they do.. making a decent Aussie team look very very average.. Pakistan v England final anyone?? #T20WorldCup #Pak #Eng”

Wasim Jaffer reacted with a meme of the Indian comedian Raju Shrivastav with the caption, “Team India who’ve played just one game seeing people pick semi finalists and finalists already: #T20WorldCup21”.

The Indian cricket team has disappointed fans in a big manner in the T20 World Cup and with the recent defeat against New Zealand, India’s chances of going into semi-finals have also become very bleak. What do you say?

Sourav Ganguly Was Brought Back Despite Opposition From Senior Players, Reveals Greg Chappell

The current President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly is also known as one of the most successful skippers of the Indian cricket team but there has been a phase in his career when he was not only removed from captaincy but even dropped from the team as well. All this happened when Greg Chappell was the coach of the Indian squad, the former Aussie cricketer was appointed as the Indian coach in 2005 after the tenure of John Wright came to an end. Greg Chappell’s 2-year tenure as the coach was marred by controversies and in his latest book entitled “Not Out”, he has once again talked about the alleged differences between the senior players of the Indian team.

In his book, Greg Chappell talked about the 2005 India’s tour of Sri Lanka for three-nation ODI series for which Sourav Ganguly was not available as he was suspended due to slow over rates. He stated that Jagmohan Dalmiya asked him if he wanted Sourav Ganguly in the team as they could arrange it. Greg Chappell wrote that he replied in negative as he was of the opinion that any interference in the process was not correct and moreover it was a good time to look at Rahul Dravid and other options.

Greg Chappell further wrote that Jagmohan Dalmiya was pleased with his reply and the Indian team went to Sri Lanka without Sourav Ganguly; however, Dada joined the squad midway through the tour despite the fact that the senior players didn’t want Ganguly in the team. Greg Chappell wrote that he asked the senior players whether they wanted him back in the squad and all the players replied in negative but the selectors still brought Ganguly back.

During an interview, Greg Chappell said that he was approached by Sourav Ganguly for coaching India. He further said that though he had some other things in mind, he decided to accept the offer as John Buchanan was already coaching Australia. He added that he got the chance to coach the team of a populous and cricket crazy nation because Sourav Ganguly ensured that he did that. However, he went on say that his two years in India were very challenging on each front whether it was expectations from him or issues regarding Sourav Ganguly and his captaincy. He alleged that Dada was never interested in working hard or improving himself, he just wished to captain the side as he wanted to keep things in his control.

Sourav Ganguly also doesn’t hold high opinion of Greg Chappell and in a book launch event in 2016, he spoke that once he was given a chance to select the coach for the Indian team and he felt that he messed up in 2005.

Greg Chappell has been slammed by many former Indian cricketers for his controversial tenure and majority of them feel that he talks about his tenure as the Indian coach just for the purpose of increasing sale of his books.

“Sab Dhanda Hai,” Sacred Games Star Nawazuddin Siddiqui Quits OTT, Blames Bollywood For It

The digital platforms have offered a plethora of choices to audiences for their entertainment and the best thing is that people don’t even need to step out of their houses for watching some really great shows and web series. It won’t be wrong to say that the digital platforms were no less than a blessing during the COVID-19 pandemic as all the cinema halls were closed and people were not even allowed to go out of their houses.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one actor who played an important role in making OTTs popular by giving a superb performance in Netflix’s Sacred Games. Many other web series which did not have big star cast and were not made on big budget either also impressed viewers, thanks to the great storyline.

In the times of the pandemic, dynamics of the Indian television and movie industry have changed to a great extent and presently, the biggest star of any show, movie or web series is not any actor but the content. In simple words, content is the king and great actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, etc. make the show more gripping and exciting with their acting.

However, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has recently disclosed that he has quit the OTT platforms and the actor has blamed the big production houses of Bollywood for his decision. Nawaz stated that when he worked in Sacred Games, there were many challenges and a lot of excitement plus the focus was on content but now the content of the web series is getting diluted. He added that at that time, new talent was given chance but now that freshness has disappeared.

Talking about present times, Nawazuddin says that now the digital platforms have become dumping ground for redundant shows or the sequels of those shows which don’t even deserve to be shown to the viewers. He blames the big production houses and the actors who have become stars on the digital platforms as they have made it dhandha (business) to create unlimited content because they have signed attractive deals with the OTTs. He further strengthens his point by asking as to how he can work in such shows which he doesn’t even like to watch.

According to Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the star system has destroyed the big screen and now it is happening on OTTs too as stars of the digital platform are asking for huge fees and showing tantrums like Bollywood A-listers but they have forgotten that the real king is content. He goes on to say that the time of stars ruling the industry is gone now, adding that the Bollywood A-listers used to release their movies in 3,000 screens before the COVID-19 pandemic and people had to watch it as there was no other option but now the choices are unlimited.

We sincerely hope that the star system doesn’t prevail in OTTs because we will love to see more and more of the great actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui on the digital platforms!

Do you agree with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s take on the OTT platforms? Let us know your opinion in this connection.

Richa Chadha Mocks Bollywood Celebs Who Do Debates On TV, Calls Them The Rejects Of Industry

Richa Chadha, the beautiful Bollywood actress, has a huge fan following because of the superb performances that she has given in her movies but there is one more reason for the vast popularity that she enjoys and that is her straightforward attitude.

Richa Chadha is one of those few B-Town celebs who don’t mince their words to please someone and speak their hearts out on every matter. She also has a strong online presence which further helps in clearly expressing herself to her followers in regard to issues related to movies and social causes.

Recently Richa Chadha has given an interview in which she talks about the Bollywood celebs who take part in the debates related to Bollywood or the Indian film industry on news channels. She states that she doesn’t take such people seriously because they have no credibility.

The “Fukrey” actress further says that she won’t take their names as she is in no mood to give them any importance because it is what they crave for. As per Richa, these celebs are the ones who are the rejections of the industry and she also reveals that her friend Mini Mathur has given them the name of khurchans (scrapings that get stuck at the bottom of the pan after the dish is cooked).

Richa Chadha further talks about these celebs and says that they are not the real insiders, in fact in her opinion, they are the ones who are standing outside the room and curse the Bollywood people for not letting them in. She says that these people are holding grudges against the film industry since 1952 and she won’t prefer to talk about the polarization as it would be opportunistic.

Do you also agree with Richa Chadha? Let us know your views in this regard.
