MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings had a pretty poor IPL season in 2020 and it was not even able to qualify for the play-offs but in the IPL 2021, it has become the first team to enter the finals. This is the 9th time that CSK has reached the finals and MS Dhoni certainly deserves to get a lot of credit for this wonderful performance of the Chennai franchise in the tournament.
MS Dhoni has been leading CSK since the inaugural edition of 2008 and till now, the Chennai franchise has won IPL three times which speaks highly of the great manner in which Mahi has captained the team. However, he was constantly getting targeted for his poor form with the bat and a former cricketer also took a jibe at the capability of Dhoni on finishing the game. There is no denying the fact that the 40 years old cricketer is not in his prime but it doesn’t mean that he can be written off and yesterday in the first play-off match which CSK played against Delhi Capitals, we got the chance to see the glimpse of younger Dhoni and certainly many memories were brought alive because of the quick knock that he played to take his team into the finals.
CSK chose to bowl first after winning the toss and its decision was proved correct by its bowlers as they took three top order wickets quickly but Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant played half-century knocks and helped their team in putting up a good total of 172/5 in 20 overs. In response, CSK batters did pretty well as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa played smashing knocks but there was a time when DC was making a comeback in the game and at that time, Dhoni promoted himself ahead of Ravindra Jadeja as he has a good experience of playing and winning close matches.
MS Dhoni played a quick knock of 18 runs for which he played only 6 balls and his innings included 3 fours and 1 six. The CSK fans went crazy after seeing Dhoni playing like the younger Dhoni and he made sure that his team went into the finals. There was celebration all over the ground and Dhoni’s wife Sakshi and many other fans were in tears after the match got over.

The first play-off match was played yesterday between the three times champion Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals and MS Dhoni led CSK confirmed its place in the finals by registered a thrilling victory over DC. While it was Prithvi Shaw who entertained public with his smashing innings of 60 runs for which he played 34 balls (7 fours & 3 sixes) during the batting of Delhi Capitals, CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad (70) and Robin Uthappa (63) thrashed the DC bowlers all around the corner. Nonetheless, it was the veteran cricketer MS Dhoni who stole all the limelight by playing a quick knock of 18 runs in 6 balls and his innings included 3 fours & 1 six.
Apart from this all, there was one more thing which caught the attention of everyone and it was the 360-degree vision technology that was used by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). What made it more special was the fact that it was the first time in the history of cricket that this technology was used and people were able to get the 360-degree vision of a shot.
Prithvi Shaw’s innings included 3 sixes and his sixes were shown in 360 degree vision to the audiences and not just cricket fans but many former cricketers and cricketing experts were left mesmerized.

As far as the match is concerned, CSK chose to bowl first after winning the toss and its bowlers justified this decision as they dismissed three DC batsmen (Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel) quickly. Other than opener Prithvi Shaw, skipper Rishabh Pant (51) and Shimron Hetmyer (37) played good knocks because of which DC posted a total of 172/5 on the score board in its 20 overs.
CSK also lost Faf du Plessis early but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa ensured that they gave their team a solid platform. The Chennai team also lost Shardul Thakur and Ambati Rayudu quickly which gave a chance to DC to make a comeback in the game but skipper MS Dhoni promoted himself up the order and played a much needed knock to help his team win the match with 4 wickets in hand and 2 balls remaining in their 20 overs innings.

Sunrisers Hyderabad must never have expected that the IPL 2021 would be like a nightmare for it as the team ended the tournament at the bottom of the points table with just 3 wins in the 14 matches that it had played.
David Warner, the former skipper of SRH, also went through a tough phase. In the first leg of the tournament, he was slammed not only for his poor batting but also for some of his decisions because of which the team management had to take the big decision of removing him from the captaincy. This was not all as David Warner soon lost his place from the playing eleven of the team too. He made a comeback in the second season but after a couple of poor outings, he was once again dropped from the squad and later on, he was not even taken to the ground as he posted a video in which he was seen watching a match of his team on television in his hotel room.
Fans of David Warner are not happy with the treatment that has been meted out to their favourite cricketer by the team management but some fans have requested the management to retain David Warner as mega IPL auction is going to take place next year.
After the last league match of SRH which was against Mumbai Indians, Kane Williamson who led the team after David Warner was removed from captaincy posted a couple of photos of the Orange Army in the huddle with the caption, “A tough season with plenty of lessons. David Warner is the only player to win the Orange Cap three times and it was under his leadership that Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL 2016 trophy.

The Indian woman cricketer Shikha Pandey surprised everyone when she bowled the beautiful delivery on which she dismissed Alyssa Healy, the Australian batter, during the second T20I of the three match series which is being played at Carrara Oval. It was the first over of the innings and the delivery moved miles to hit the top of the stumps. The batter was beaten not only by the swing but by the seam as well.
Shikha Pandey was praised by cricket lovers, former cricketers and by her contemporaries as well for her superb bowling and it was also noticed by the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer who called the delivery as the “Ball of the Century”.
Wasim Jaffer shared a GIF of the incident with the caption, “Ball of the century, women’s cricket edition! Take a bow Shikha Pandey #AUSvIND”.
While the majority of online users praised the bowler and called it a magical delivery, there was one person who opined that Shikha Pandey was just lucky enough as the ball must have landed on a crack in the pitch because of which the ball moved so much. The man who made this comment is a Sri Lankan cricket writer and he posted this in reaction to Wasim Jaffer’s “Ball of the century” tweet.
The Sri Lankan Twitter user wrote, “Ball of the century? Fortunately for her that ball landed right on the cracks turned in to the stumps. Unlucky batter..”
This tweet was soon noticed by Wasim Jaffer who has a great sense of humour and knows pretty well how to shut down trolls.
Jaffer responded with an image from an Indian TV serial which is based on the Indian epic Mahabharata and the text on the image read, “यदि बुद्धि को विश्राम दे दिया है मेरे बच्चे तो मुख को भी विश्राम दे दो” (Hey kid, if you have given rest to your brain, you should give rest to your mouth as well.
This was surely a brilliant reply from the former Indian cricketer! Hopefully the troller would have understood what Wasim Jaffer wanted to convey.

The IPL 2021 is close to its end as the play-offs are starting from today with Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings facing each other at Dubai International Stadium. However, the craze of cricket will not end with the IPL 2021 as the ICC T20 World Cup will start soon after the league gets over and the cricket lovers of India and Pakistan are already eager to witness the match which will be played on 24th October.
India and Pakistan are arch-rivals in cricket and the intensity is quite high when they clash against each other but both the nations have not played any bi-lateral series for a long time now due to the tense relations between them. As far as the encounters in the World Cup are concerned, Pakistan has never been able to defeat India in the World Cup whether it is ODI World Cup or T20 World Cup.
The tickets for the India vs. Pakistan match got sold within few minutes of the opening of online booking and many people were not able to buy the tickets of the match. A number of fans are still trying to buy the tickets but a fan chose to make a request to the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma and asked him to provide him with two tickets for the match.

The five time winners and the defending champions Mumbai Indians ended their journey of the IPL 2021 on a high note; however their fans will certainly miss them in the play-offs. Yesterday, MI played its last league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and registered a big victory by 42 runs but failed to enter the play-offs because its net run rate was lower than that of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Earlier, KKR improved its run rate by defeating Rajasthan Royals in its last league match at Sharjah Cricket Ground by a huge margin of 86 runs. This meant that MI needed to score 250 runs or more in the match against SRH and it also needed to get the Hyderabad franchise all out at 65. Though MI played well, it still was not able to fulfill all the conditions and had to bid goodbye to the IPL 2021.

Manish Pandey-led Sunrisers Hyderabad tried its best to chase the target but they could manage only 193/8 in the stipulated 20 overs.
For SRH, Manish Pandey played a good knock of 69 runs not out (41 balls, 7 fours & 2 sixes) while Ishan Kishan was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb knock and this innings was quite special for the MI fans as Ishan took only 16 balls to touch the 50-mark.
