Irfan Pathan Takes A Dig At People Blaming IPL For Cancellation Of 5th Test With A Witty Tweet

There is no denying the fact that the Indian Premier League is certainly one of the biggest sporting events of the world. However it is also equally true that if there are a huge number of cricket fans who eagerly wait for the IPL every year for entertainment, there are many who like to blame the league for every wrong thing happening in the cricket world too.

The 5-match test series between India and England ended in an abrupt manner as the fifth and the final test match got cancelled after another Indian support staff member tested COVID-19 positive. He is the fourth person from the Indian camp to test positive and after a lot of discussion, both the boards decided to cancel the fifth test match.

However, it has given a chance to many former cricketers to blame the IPL as they are of the opinion that the fifth test match has been cancelled because the IPL is going to start in around a week’s time. Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan has been quite clear when he writes in a column that it is all about the IPL and money as the test match has been cancelled because the Indian cricketers are afraid of getting COVID-19 and missing the tournament.

Vaughan is of the opinion that the Indian players should have shown trust in the reports of their PCR tests, adding that as the players are vaccinated and we know more about the virus now, things would have been managed if they had decided to play. Vaughan wrote that the Indian board should have fielded a playing eleven even if they had to send their third string players on the field. He also referred to the Australian series where the Indian squad registered victory with reserve players when A-listers got injured. Vaughan also talked about the inconvenience caused to the fans who travelled to Manchester from different cities and spend a lot of money on ticket bookings, hotel, travelling, etc.

The managing director of England’s Barmy Army, Chris Mallard slammed the BCCI and the Indian players for not playing the fifth test match and stated that all this was done for the IPL. Former England cricketer Steve Harmison called it the beginning of the end of test cricket and slammed the BCCI for using its power in a wrong manner.

The former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan was not happy with all the noise being made against the IPL so he decided to reply them in a sarcastic manner.

Irfan Pathan called the IPL an easy target and took a dig at people blaming the tournament for Manchester test’s cancellation in a satirical tweet which read, “My tooth fell of, can I blame the @IPL ?? #easytarget”

Though the ECB chief Tom Harrison has stated that the IPL should not be blamed for the cancellation of the fifth test match, still there are many who feel that the league is the reason behind the recent developments.

As far as the IPL 2021 is concerned, the second leg of the league is going to start from September 19 in UAE.

Vaughan, KP & Wasim Jaffer Slam ECB, Remind It Of SA Tour Cancellation, “Don’t Go Pointing Fingers”

The Indian and English cricket fans are pretty disappointed because of the cancellation of the fifth test match due to COVID-19 as one more support staff member of the Indian camp has tested positive. This is the fourth person from the Indian camp to test COVID-19 positive but the good thing is that all the players have tested negative.

Earlier, the head coach of team India Ravi Shastri tested positive and then two more support staff members also caught the virus after which these three were not allowed to travel to Manchester with the team. Initially, there was a buzz that only the first day of the fifth test match was cancelled but later on, the complete test match got cancelled.

Many including the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are of the opinion that all this has happened because the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri attended a book launch event in London despite being instructed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah in writing not to attend any public function on the tour. The ECB is not happy with all this and though the BCCI has assured its cooperation in rescheduling the test match whenever possible, the English media has come upon Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli quite harshly for behaving irresponsibly.

However, former English cricketers Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen have come in support of the BCCI and reminded everyone that the ECB had also cancelled the South African tour due to the COVID-19 scare.

Michael Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote, “India have let English Cricket down!!! But England did let South African Cricket down!!!”

Kevin Pietersen tweeted, “England left the tour of SA for COVID scares & cost CSA plenty, so don’t go pointing fingers!”

The former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer also slammed the ECB as well as the English media and also reminded that India played the Oval test match without their coaching staff in order to honour their commitment.

His tweet read, “England were within their rights back then and so are India now. If anything India honoured their commitment and completed the Oval test despite entire coaching staff getting positive during the game. #ENGvsIND #perspective”.

Wasim Jaffer also posted a screenshot of the news of England cancelling SA tour due to COVID-19:

The BCCI has stated that it shares a strong relationship with the ECB and both the boards will try to find a window for the rescheduling of the 5th test match. However at the same time, the BCCI also states that safety of the players is their highest priority and no compromise can be made in this regard.

Shane Warne Showers Praises On Team India For Brilliant Show During INDvsENG Test Series

The fifth and the final test match which was scheduled to be played between India and England at Manchester would have been a very interesting one but it got cancelled after one more member of the Indian camp tested COVID-19 positive. After the fourth test match, India had taken an invincible lead by 2-1 so the players would have tried their best to win the fifth and final test match to win the series with a bigger margin while the hosts would have left no stone unturned in winning the test match in order to level the series.

The former Australian cricketer Shane Warne feels that both the fans and players have lost the chance of experiencing an exciting finish of the 5-match test series that is being played under Pataudi Trophy 2021. It would have been an interesting contest as England has won 12 out of 15 test matches in Manchester since 2002 and this track record would have certainly boosted confidence of the hosts.

Shane Warne feels that India is the better team of the two as it has ended the series at 2-1 and it came England with the goal of defeating England in England, in seaming and swinging conditions, and it fulfilled all the conditions in the right manner.

Shane Warne also referred to the India-Australia series which was won by India despite losing the first test match at Adelaide in which the Indian squad registered its lowest total ever in an innings of 36 runs. Shane Warne said that he saw India playing some quality cricket in Australia as it got out for 36 runs in the first test but then it made a strong comeback and won the next match.

He added that India played well despite the fact that Virat Kohli returned to his country and some players suffered injuries. The former Australian spinner added that India defeated Australia at Gabba, Brisbane, where the Aussies didn’t lose a match in 33 years and this proved how highly determined the Indians were. He concluded by saying that we all should thank Virat Kohli and the Indian team for pushing test cricket.

We also agree with Shane Warne, what about you?

“Irresponsible,” English Media & Fans Slam Ravi Shastri & Virat For Attending Book Launch Event

The 5-match test series played between India and England under Pataudi Trophy ended abruptly after the 5th test match which was scheduled to be played at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester, got cancelled due to the COVID-19 scare. Just a day before the fifth test match, the assistant physio Yogesh Parmar tested COVID-19 positive which compelled the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to discuss the matter and they decided to cancel the fifth test match, though they kept the option of rescheduling the match open.

This was the fourth case in the Indian camp as earlier, the Indian team’s head coach Ravi Shastri tested positive along with Bharat Arun and R Sridhar. What has left BCCI more worried is that Yogesh Parmar has tested positive despite the fact that Shastri, Arun and Sridhar have not even travelled to Manchester with the team.

While the ECB is not happy with recent developments, the English media is leaving no stone unturned in slamming the Indian contingent for the unfortunate events as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli along with Ravi Shastri attended a book launch event in a hotel in London during the test series. The BCCI officials are also of the opinion that this is how Shastri and other support staff members have caught the virus.

However, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah had already instructed the players and support staff not to attend any public events during the tour. The good thing is that all the players have tested negative but this is certainly a warning for the BCCI and the team management as to how the senior members can behave in such an irresponsible manner by leaving their bubble and attending a public event.

Fans and cricket lovers have also slammed Ravi Shastri for his careless act and this is how they have reacted:

Earlier it was heard that only the first day of the fifth test match was cancelled but later it was said that the fifth test match was cancelled; nevertheless, both the boards kept the option of rescheduling open whenever it would be possible. As of now, India stands as winner of the series (Pataudi Trophy 2021) as the team leads by 2-1 in the four test matches that have been played.

What is your opinion in regard to Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri attending a book launch event?

The former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has reached UAE for the second leg of the IPL 2021 which is scheduled to start from September 19. We are pretty sure that fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping to see him play well in the remaining matches as Virat Kohli led team has a good chance to win the league this time.

The arrival of AB de Villiers in UAE was announced on the official Twitter handle of RCB as it tweeted, “Our excitement levels just went @ABdeVilliers17 has joined the team.”

Dhanashree Makes An Indirect Instagram Story Over Chahal’s Exclusion From T20 WC Team

Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of the most important players of the Indian cricket team for a long time but in a shocking development, he has been excluded from the 15-member Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup which is going to take place in UAE after the IPL 2020.

Cricket fans were also left surprised after not seeing Yuzi’s name in the list but soon the head of the selection committee Chetan Sharma revealed the reason behind exclusion of Chahal. Chetan Sharma said that Yuzvendra’s name was discussed in the committee but Rahul Chahar was given preference as they wanted spinners who can bowl quickly and get pace off the pitch rather than those who flight the ball.

Yuzi’s wife Dhanashree Verma also reacted on it and made an emotional post on her Instagram story.

Dhanashree wrote, “Maa Kehti hai ki ye Waqt bhee guzar jana hai. Sar Utha ke jiyo kyuiki Hunar aur ache karm hamesha sath dete hai. Toh ji baat aisi hai ki yeh waqt bhi Guzar jaana hai. God is always great.”

Here is the post:

The good thing is that we will certainly see Yuzi playing in the IPL 2021 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Another shocking exclusion is of Shikhar Dhawan who has performed quite well in the past few years for the country in the white ball cricket. However, the fans were also surprised to see that Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel have been included in the squad which means that India has included five spinners in the team.
