From Lord’s Spat With Anderson To England’s Injury Benefit, Virat Kohli Talks About Major Issues

The third test match between India and England has started at Headingley Carnegie Ground, Leeds, as the visitors have chosen to bat first after winning the toss. The Indian cricket fans must be pretty happy after hearing that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli has finally won the toss because it is pretty rare that he wins it. Virat Kohli appeared in a virtual press conference which took place before the match and while he answered some questions, he chose to remain silent on few ones.

Many English cricketers are suffering from injuries at the moment, the latest being Mark Wood who injured his shoulder in the second test match and would not be playing at Leeds at least. Earlier the star player of the England team, Ben Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket as he wanted to focus on his mental health. Ben Stokes got his finger injured during the first leg of the IPL 2021 and since then, he has been missing from action.

The England cricket team is also missing the services of their pacer Stuart Broad who suffered calf injury and won’t be able to play until the Ashes. Another England pacer Jofra Archer has been out of the squad because of his elbow injury and while Chirs Woakes hurt his heel in the series against Sri Lanka, Olly Stone is dealing with the issues with his back.

When Virat Kohli was asked whether he sees it as the best chance to win the series as England is dealing with so many injures, the RCB skipper makes no hesitation in saying that it is a wrong question to be asked from a team which is playing brilliant cricket for a long time now. He adds that even if the important players are a part of the opposition team, the Indian squad still thinks of winning and it doesn’t wait for the opposition to get weak because it is not how they approach a series.

Talking about the batting conditions in England, the Indian skipper who has not been able to score a century in the test cricket since November 2019 says that he feels the batting conditions in England are the toughest in comparison to other nations. He further states that in England, a batsman can never say that he is settled on the pitch even if he has scored 30 or 40 runs.

Kohli terms patience and discipline as two most important factors that should be followed by a batsman while batting in England and adds that a batsman has to put his ego in his pocket if he wants to score runs here. Virat explains it in a simple manner that a batsman should bat in the same manner as he batted for his first 30 runs and then keep on repeating it till he is on the crease. Virat Kohli is of the opinion that patience is the key for batting in England and a batsman can get out anytime irrespective of how experienced a batsman is or how many runs he has scored.

There were many moments in the second test match when the players from both the teams lost their temper and had a go at each other. On the third day of the test match, the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah launched a barrage of bouncers and short balls at the England cricketer James Anderson which did not go well with the senior cricketer and his teammates. In the second innings of India, Virat Kohli had a heated altercation with James Anderson when the latter was running on the pitch and Kohli objected to it. Later on when Jasprit Bumrah came to bat, Mark Wood returned the favor by bowling short balls and bouncers at him and then Bumrah, Mark Wood and Jos Buttler were seen having animated discussions until the umpires intervened.

When Kohli was asked what conversation took place between him and James Anderson, the Indian skipper refused to talk about it and said that it is for the cameras and the stump mics only. He said that he would not be giving the details of the words used as it was done just for getting motivated and had no importance after that.

As far as the third test match is concerned, India seems to be in a tough situation as it has lost three top order batsmen – KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli at the score of 30 with Rohit Sharma (9) and Ajinkya Rahane (0) at the crease.

The Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is having a great time with his family in Gurugram at the moment and this can easily be ascertained by visiting his official Instagram account. Yuzi had a good tour to Sri Lanka where India played limited overs cricket but during the end of the tour, the 31 years old cricketer contracted COVID-19. Well, the good thing is that Yuzi has recovered now and recently he posted a couple of photos of himself in which he is looking cool in a white shirt.

While Yuzi is in India at the moment, Ravindra Jadeja is in England where the Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli is playing 5-match test series against England. India is leading by 1-0 as the first test match which was played at Trent Bridge ended in a draw while the second test match played at Lord’s was won by the Indian side by 151 runs. The third test will be starting today (Aug 25) at Headingley Cricket Ground, Leeds, and most probably India won’t be making any changes in the playing eleven as they will not like to disturb their winning combination.

Ravindra Jadeja has been preferred over Ravichandran Ashwin for both the test matches and though he may not have been able to take a single wicket in both the matches, he performed decently with bat in both the matches.

Yuzi will be seen next playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second leg of the IPL 2021 which is going to start from September 19 at UAE. Chahal will certainly like to perform well in the IPL because it will help him in strengthening his claim for the Indian playing eleven for the T20 World Cup.

A bizarre incident took place in Johor, Malaysia, in 2019 in which a man found a monitor lizard on the front gate of his house when he returned to his home. The name of the man is Long Cherng Yee and he made a Facebook post about this when he saw that the lizard was in no mood to leave the gate and kept on holding it for hours.

Ajinkya Rahane Breaks Silence On His & Pujara’s Form & His Reply Speaks High Of His Confidence

The Indian team is high on confidence after winning the second test match against England which was played at Lord’s and this confidence will certainly help them in the third test match that will be played at Leeds from tomorrow (Aug 25).

Presently, India has taken a lead of 1-0 in the 5-match series as the first test match at Trent Bridge ended in a draw due to rain. There is no denying the fact that both the teams will like to win the third test match as it will make India’s situation stronger in the series while the English side will be able to level the series by winning this test match.

The Indian squad seems to be in a better position at the moment, though there are still concerns about the form of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara. The vice-captain had to face some tough questions about his and Pujara’s form when he attended a press conference recently.

In response to the query regarding their form, Rahane says that he is happy with the fact that people are talking about them but they both are not much worried about the talks going on about their form. Rahane states that they both know how to deal with pressure in a proper manner and they are doing the same rather than being worried about the things which are not in their control.

Though both the batsmen may not have scored much in some past innings, they seemed to be in good touch in the second innings of the Lord’s test match as Ajinkya Rahane scored 61 while Cheteshwar Pujara made 45 runs and these scores certainly helped team India build up a pressure on the opposition. Both the batsmen batted together when the Indian team had lost 3 top order batsmen at the score 55 and they not only ensured that the English bowlers could not take another wicket but also exhausted them by batting for 49.3 overs.

As far as Pujara is concerned, his scores in England including the final of the World Test Championship which was played against New Zealand are 8, 15, 4, 12*, 9 and 45 while Rahane’s scores are 49, 15, 5, 1 and 61.

When Virat Kohli was asked about the form of his deputy, he made it clear that the team management is not at all worried about it but the Indian cricket fans are certainly hoping big innings from these two batsmen.
