The fifth and the final day of the second test match started with Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma on the crease and a lot was expected from the young Indian wicketkeeper but he wasn’t able to make any impact and got dismissed early by Ollie Robinson who also sent Ishant Sharma back to pavilion. The Indian team lost 8 wickets at the score of 209 and everything depended on the Indian tailenders. While the English bowlers were hoping to end the Indian innings soon, Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had something else in mind and they not only scored runs but also frustrated the English bowlers.
Soon a contest between Jasprit Bumrah and Mark Wood started as the latter was quite annoyed with the manner in which the Indian tailenders were batting. After getting hit for a four, Mark Wood launched a barrage of short balls, out of which one hit Bumrah on his helmet and then Bumrah was seen having verbal duel with Jos Buttler. Soon they were joined by the English skipper Joe Root and the Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami after which the umpires came in between to separate the players.
If you remember on the third day of the test match, Jasprit Bumrah did the same thing with James Anderson who got hit on his helmet and ribs and after that, Anderson had a go at Bumrah.
The Indian skipper was also seen applauding Jasprit Bumrah for his lower batting order and that too, in a quite aggressive manner.

As far as the match is concerned, India has given the target of 272 to the hosts and the England cricket team has already scored 67/5. The good thing is that Joe Root has been dismissed and it strengthens the chances of India’s victory in view of the fact that winning the match with Root on the crease was a little difficult because he had been in a terrific form.

The Indian and English cricket teams are performing pretty well in the second test match which is being played at Lord’s and there is no doubt that both the teams won’t be leaving any stone unturned in trying to win the match. While India put up a decent score of 364 on the board in their first innings, the hosts took a minor lead with 391 runs in their first innings.
However, the Indian team didn’t have a good start in the second innings as both the openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma who batted well in the first innings were not able to repeat their success. What was more disappointing was that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli failed to make a big score once again, especially when his team needed him the most. The good thing for the Indian side was that Ajinkya Rahane (61) and Cheteshwar Pujara (45) stayed on the pitch for some time but after these two got out, Ravindra Jadeja was also sent back to pavilion quite early by Moeen Ali.
After that, Rishabh Pant was left with the responsibility of scoring runs with Ishant Sharma on the other end but soon the quality of light got deteriorated and the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen making gestures to Rishabh Pant asking him to talk to the umpires about the bad light. When the Indian batsman talked to the umpires, they called off the fourth day game early and the English skipper Joe Root was not happy with it.
Joe Root was also making spinners bowl from both the ends keeping in mind the poor condition of the light and while returning to the dressing room, Joe Root and Rishabh Pant were seen having animated discussion which was, quite obviously, about the light. The pic of this discussion went viral and it gave Twitterati enough fodder to create memes and jokes and have some fun.

As far as the match is concerned, the Indian squad has given the target of 272 runs to England to win the match and the latter has already scored 43/2 with Joe Root (20) and Haseeb Hameed (9) on the crease.

Playing at Lord’s is certainly a great experience for any cricket team as it is the Home of Cricket and presently the Indian team is facing England here in the second test match of the 5-match test series. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli lost the toss once again and the English captain Joe Root invited the visitors for batting first. The Indian team posted a decent total of 364 runs in the first innings and the hosts also put up a good show by scoring 391 in response.
While it was KL Rahul who played a beautiful knock of 129 runs for his Indian team, the English skipper led from the front and scored 180 runs not out. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that Joe Root may have completed his double ton if any other batsman had stayed on the crease for some more time.
As far as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is concerned, he disappointed once again as he got out on 42 runs in the first innings and made only 20 runs in the second innings when his team needed him on the crease for longer time. However, he is quite an energetic and enthusiastic person whether he is on-the-field or off-the-field and he doesn’t let his failures affect his confidence.
During the match also, he was seen having good time with his teammates and staff members in the balcony of Lord’s. It felt as if Virat Kohli was in a good mood and wanted to make people around him happy by doing Nagin dance.
Here is the viral photo in which Virat Kohli is seen in the pose of Nagin dance:
Soon the Indian Twitterati started reacting on this image of the RCB skipper and many slammed him for not focusing on his performance. Here are some selected reactions:

Talking about the match, the Indian team took the lead of 228 runs by scoring 255/8 in their second innings by the time this article was written. The Indian lower batting order is showing resilience as Mohammad Shami is batting at 33 and Jasprit Bumrah is batting at 22.

The second test match between India and England which is being played at Lord’s has reached a very interesting position as India has taken a lead of 154 runs by scoring 181/6 in its second innings and only one day game is remaining in the match. While the Indians will like to give a good target to the hosts, the England squad will certainly like to win the test match and take a lead in order to prove its supremacy.
However, the English cricketers did something on the fourth day of the test match because of which many eyebrows were raised.
In the second session when Indian batters Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were on the crease, the ball was seen under the shoes of English cricketers. As the cricketers wear spikes, there are good chances that condition of the ball can be changed by rubbing it with spikes.
As the photos went viral, many cricket fans and former cricketers including Aakash Chopra raised their voices and questioned as if an attempt to tamper the ball is being made.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag also noticed the pics and he took to Twitter to take a jibe at the English cricketers.
Viru wrote, “Yeh kya ho raha hai. Is it ball tampering by Eng ya COVID preventive measures” with laughing emoji.
On the other hand, the English pacer Stuart Broad who is not able to play in this series due to calf injury has been speaking in support of his teammates and saying that it is not intentional. In response to a fan’s question as if why the umpires didn’t take notice of it and why the ball was not changed even if it was not intentional, Stuart Broad wrote that ball does not need to be changed if it is not damaged and the same thing applies when the ball is hit for the six in the stands.
Stuart Broad’s reply read, “Depends if it was damaged? Exactly the same if it was hit into the stands. If it didn’t make a mark, why change it?”
Twitter users also called it ball tampering and this is how satirically cricket fans reacted on the incident:

The India-England 5-match test series is a contest not only between two cricketing nations but also between two cricketers – Virat Kohli who is considered as one of the greatest batsmen of all times and James Anderson, one of the best pacers of the world who is amazingly getting better with his age.
They both are quite competitive and also have no hesitation in having a go at their opponents if needed. In the second innings of India in the ongoing test match, Virat Kohli and James Anderson had a verbal spat when the former pointed out that the latter was running at the pitch. The verbal duel kept on going even after the next ball as the Indian skipper was heard saying, “You swearing at me again are you? This isn’t your fu**ing backyard”.
Anderson also said something and then after the fifth delivery of the over, Virat Kohli was once again heard saying, “Chirp chirp chirp. This is what old age makes you”.
This happened during the 17th over of the Indian innings and it was Anderson’s 9th over. This verbal duel could have continued if Anderson’s spell wouldn’t have ended.

The Indian team needed its skipper to play a big innings but Virat Kohli disappointed once again as he got out for 20 after giving a catch to Jos Buttler on the bowling of Sam Curran.
In the second innings, India didn’t have a good start as it lost its openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul early and then Virat Kohli was also not able to perform well. The good thing for the Indian team is that the test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara (29) and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (24) are still on the crease and India has taken the lead of 78 runs by scoring 105/3.
