Twitter Roasts Tim Paine For Blaming Indians On Gabba Loss With ‘Sideshows’ & ‘Distract’ Remark

The India-Australia four match test series which was played in 2020-21 was certainly a historic one as India’s less experienced team not only won the test series but also breached Gabba where the Aussies had been invincible for the last 32 years.

Whenever the talk of India’s win of 2018 comes up, the Aussies gave the excuse that the Australian team was without their star batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner which is similar to the Indian team without Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. But in the series which has been played in 2020-21, the Australians had a star studded side while India went into the series without Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma.

The Indians suffered a humiliating defeat in the Adelaide test and after that, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli returned to India as he was on paternity leave. What made it more difficult for the Indian team was that the pacer Mohammad Shami also returned to India after suffering a fracture in his arm.

However, the Indian side under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane clinched victory in the Melbourne test, thus leveling the series by 1-1 and proving all those wrong who predicted a whitewash by the Aussies. The Sydney test was also a shocker for the Aussies as they had an upper hand for the first four days of the match but the Indians showed a great deal of commitment, determination and courage for saving the match which ended in draw. The three test matches were played, the series was leveled at 1-1 and the fourth test match was scheduled to be played at Gabba, Brisbane.

The majority of the cricketing world believed that the Australian team would win the Gabba test as they hadn’t lost there for the last 32 years plus many senior players of the Indian team were injured and nobody was giving any chance to the down-under Indian team. However, the tables turned upside down as the young Indian players rose to the situation and the Indian team won the Gabba test and the series as well.

Recently, the Australian skipper Tim Paine has opened up about the India-Australia series 2020-2021 and said that it is quite challenging to play against the Indians as they are pretty good at creating sideshows because of which the opposition loses focus from the game. Tim Paine said that the Indians kept on saying they would not be going to Gabba because of which they kept on wondering as to which would be the venue for the fourth test match and it affected their focus on the game.

Initially, the Indian team didn’t want to go to Brisbane as the quarantine rules were pretty hard over there. The Indian management was saying that they should be given some relaxation because they had already served their quarantine period after arriving in Australia and since then, they had been living in bio-bubble. However later on, things settled down, India went to play at Gabba and the rest is history.

The remarks of Tim Paine didn’t go well with the Indian cricket fans and they roasted him big time. Check out some selected tweets:

Ian Bell Speaks On His Famous Run-Out & Dhoni’s Heart-Warming Gesture During INDvsENG In 2011

MS Dhoni is termed as the one of the best and the coolest skippers of the world and there have been many incidents because of which Mahi has garnered love and affection of the cricket fans. One such incident took place in the four match test series which was played between India and England in 2011. The second test match was played at Nottingham and on the 3rd day of this test match just before the tea session, the England batsmen Ian Bell and Eoin Morgan were on the crease. Eoin Morgan played a shot towards the leg side, both the batsmen thought that it was a four so they moved away from the crease and started walking towards the pavilion as they thought that the game would be stopped for the tea session.

However in reality, the Indian fielder Praveen Kumar somehow managed to stop the ball from touching the boundary and he threw it towards MS Dhoni who in return threw it to Abhinav Mukund who removed the bails without wasting any time and Ian Bell was given out by the umpires.

Ian Bell was batting at 137 at that time and both the English batsmen drew a lot of criticism for their irresponsible behaviour. However, MS Dhoni withdrew his appeal and he called back Ian Bell to bat again who got out at 156. MS Dhoni was awarded with the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade for the heartwarming gesture that he showed.

Recently, the former English cricketer Ian Bell opened up about that incident and accepted that it was completely his mistake. While talking at The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel, Ian Bell states that when he looks back at that incident, he feels that he must have been very hungry or something like that because he started walking instantly towards pavilion as they both felt that ball had hit the boundary. He added that it made Dhoni win an award but there is no denying the fact that it was a mistake that he should not have committed.

Ian Bell also added that the period from 2011 to 2013 was peak time not just for him but for the English team as well because they won series at home as well as at Australia and India which is certainly a great thing in the test cricket. He was given the Man of the Series award for the 2013 Ashes which speaks highly of his performances.

Great sportsman spirit by MS Dhoni! Truly legend for a reason!

Here’s How Pak-Born Azhar Mahmood Could Play In IPL Despite BCCI Banning Pakistan From League

The Indian Premier League is one of the biggest sporting events of the world and cricketers from all the cricket playing nations like to play in this world-class tournament. However due to the tensions between India and Pakistan, no Pakistani cricketer has been able to play in the IPL since 2009. But soon we may be able to see Mohammad Amir playing in the IPL as he is trying to take British citizenship and then he will be taking part in the IPL as a British national and not a Pakistani national.

The 28 years old Pakistani surprised everyone when he announced his retirement from the international cricket as it is quite a young age for taking retirement. It is being said that Amir has taken this decision because of the problems that he had with the team management and the coaching staff. The cricketer has now shifted to England and plans to raise his kids in England as well.

If Mohammad Amir plays the IPL after getting the British citizenship, he won’t be the first Pakistani cricketer to play in the tournament after 2009 as earlier Azhar Mahmood, the former Pakistani cricketer, has also played in the Indian Premier League. Azhar Mahmood played in the IPL from 2012 to 2015 after he got the Britain citizenship.

In 2012, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) bought Azhar Mahmood for a huge amount of $200,000 which was double of his base price. Mahmood also performed well as he took 14 wickets and scored 186 runs, the Punjab franchise retained him for 2013 but released him before the auctions of 2014.

Azhar Mahmood didn’t play in the IPL 2014 but in the IPL 2015, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders which bought him for Rs. 50 lakhs. However, Azhar Mahmood played only one match for KKR in which he scored 6 runs and wasn’t able to take even a single wicket. KKR released Azhar Mahmood and that was the last time any Pakistani cricketer played in the IPL.

Azhar Mahmood got his British passport in 2011 despite the fact that he got British citizenship in 2003 after marrying Ebba Qureshi, a British national. Azhar Mahmood wanted to play for the England cricket also but he did not get the chance.

It will be interesting to see whether Mohammad Amir will be able to play in the IPL or not.

Depinder Chhibber was 11 years old when she moved to Newcastle with her family. Presently she lives in Sydney but she says that her heart and soul are always with India. A pharmacist by profession, Dipender is pursuing Masters as of now but nothing can keep her away from her passion which is cooking. Dipender has been heavily inspired from the women of her family – mother, grandmother, etc. and has learned a good number of traditional dishes from her mother.

The Indian food has a separate fan base, hasn’t it?

“$200,000 Contract For A 19 Yrs Old Was Wow,” Dwayne Bravo Recalls MI Signing Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard, the West Indian cricketer, is an integral part of the IPL team Mumbai Indians as he has been associated with the squad since 2010. MI is the most successful team of the IPL with 5 title wins and it won’t be wrong to say that Kieron Pollard has been instrumental in these wins of the team. Kieron Pollard seemed to be in good touch in the IPL 2021 as well, who can forget his smashing knock of 87 not out (34) against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings which MI won!

Recently, the West Indian cricketer Dwayne Bravo talked about how Kieron Pollard was signed by the Mumbai franchise. Speaking to a cricket portal, Bravo said that when MI needed a replacement for him (Bravo), he gave them the name of Kieron Pollard but at that time, he was playing for a club, so Bravo gave the name of Dwayne Smith.

However the next year before the Champions League when Pollard was with Bravo in Hyderabad, the latter made a call to Rahul Sanghvi and asked him to sign Pollard before the tournament commenced. Dwayne Bravo added that Rahul along with Robin Singh came to Hyderabad from Mumbai with a contract worth $200,000. He called Pollard who came downstairs and met Rahul and Robin in the lobby.

Bravo further added that the magical moment was when the 19 years old Kieron Pollard saw the contract as coming from Trinidad, $200,000 was quite a big amount for him; Pollard looked at him (Bravo) with amazement and said, “Dwayne are you serious?”

Since then, Kieron Pollard has been associated with MI and his association with the franchise for such a long time is a proof that he has been performing well consistently.

Mohd. Amir Lauds SKY, Kishan & Indian Management, Slams Pak Selectors To Choose Players With Flaws

Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistani cricketer who shocked everyone by taking retirement at the young age of 28, is pretty upset with the Pakistani team management and the coaching staff as he recently slammed them for their selection policy.

Amir says that the young players who have been inducted into the Pakistani national team have technical flaws and they are not suitable for representing the country at the international level. In an interview with a Pakistani portal, Mohammad Amir has compared Pakistan with other cricket playing nations such as India, New Zealand, England, etc. and said that these nations select only those players for the international level who have learned the game in a proper manner while playing in the domestic circuits while in Pakistan, the players are expected to learn while playing at the international level.

He adds that the players of these nations are introduced at the international level only when they are fully prepared to set their foot on the highest platform after toiling hard at the domestic and junior level. Amir states that such players show their talent and skills in the international cricket which they have learnt at the domestic level. He goes on to say that if we talk about what is happening in Pakistan at the moment, it is expected from the cricketers to learn from the national coaches while playing for the country.

Amir gave the examples of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Krunal Pandya and said that they were absolutely ready when they were inducted in the national squad and they did not seem to need much coaching or advice as they had already worked hard at domestic level and the IPL which also gave them the international exposure.

Amir states that the international cricket is very tough and it is not like school cricket where you can learn while playing. According to him, the under-prepared cricketers should learn the necessary skills at the first class level or in the academy but in Pakistan, many young cricketers with technical issues have been introduced in the national team with a hope that they will learn and improve while playing and this is not the right way to play the international cricket.

Mohammad Amir will soon be taking British citizenship and he plans to play cricket for the next 6-7 years. Moreover, there are chances that he will also try to play in the IPL after getting the British citizenship.

Tim Paine Opens Up On loss At Gabba, Says “India Are Good At Creating Sideshows & We Lost Focus”

The India-Australia rivalry on the cricket field is a pretty intense one as both the teams are quite competitive and don’t want to give any advantage to the other team. Last year, India went to Australia where it played 4-match test series along with ODI and T20I series. Many cricketing experts were of the opinion that India would lose all the four test matches and their prediction seemed to come true when India not only lost the first test match which was played at Adelaide but also made their lowest score ever of 36 in the second innings.

Things looked more difficult as Virat Kohli left for India after the first test match as he took paternity leave, Mohammad Shami got injured and Rohit Sharma along with Ishant Sharma was also out of the team for recovering from injuries. But under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership, the Indian team won the second test match at Melbourne and ended the Sydney test match in a draw.

However, the biggest shock that the Indians gave to the Aussies was at Gabba, Brisbane, where the Australian team had been invincible for the last 32 years. Many senior Indian players were injured so this Indian side was pretty less experienced in comparison to the star-studded Aussie team and majority of the cricket experts believed that Australia would easily win the Gabba test as well as series. What happened at Gabba was no less than a nightmare for the Australian team as India defeated them to win the series by 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Recently, the Aussie skipper Tim Paine has talked about that historical series and stated that playing against India is challenging because they are pretty good in distracting the other team with things which really don’t matter in reality, for example the Gabba episode. According to Tim Paine, initially the Indians were saying that they would not be going to Gabba which kept the Aussies thinking as to which would be the new venue and their focus from the game got shifted.

Tim Paine added that many big players said the Indians did not want to play at Gabba because Australia had not lost any match over there for the past 32 years. As per Tim Paine, the Indians are pretty good at creating side shows because of which they lost focus and suffered a huge loss.

Do you also feel that the Indians are good at creating sideshows or the Australian skipper is making an excuse to hide his and his team’s incapability? Let us know your views in this connection.
