The IPL 2021 has been postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19 which has hit India pretty badly and some cricketers have also got infected. So the BCCI had to take this decision in order to ensure the well-being and safety of the players, support staff and each person associated with the IPL. Though few cricketers pulled out of the IPL 2021 midway citing the high rate at which the cases are increasing in India, the majority of the foreigners who were a part of the league were not having any problems as they were living in a bio-secure environment.
The former South African cricketer Graeme Smith who is the current Director of Cricket, South Africa, has recently opened up on the double standards shown by the players. According to Smith, there are some players who were taking part in the IPL 2021 and were not saying anything despite the fact that the COVID-19 positive cases are increasing at a very high rate but these same players had a problem in visiting South Africa for playing test series due to COVID-19.
Graeme Smith was referring to the 3-match test series which was scheduled to be played between South Africa and Australia earlier this year but the latter called it off as South Africa got hit with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic at that time.
While giving an interview, Graeme Smith also talked about the South African players who were a part of the IPL 2021. He said that he talked to the players and they all felt safe in India, in fact the players felt that the BSE (bio-secure environment) was a good learning experience for them.
Graeme Smith further talked about BSE as he said that it is never a foolproof arrangement, especially in the times when the virus is spreading at a very fast rate and if it gets inside, nobody can predict what will happen.
Graeme Smith has also served his team as a captain and he is the only cricketer to lead a team in 100 test matches.

The IPL 2021 halted abruptly after COVID-19 breached the bio-bubble environment and few players as well as support staff tested COVID-19 positive. Earlier, the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) was thinking of shifting the whole tournament to Mumbai but as some more players tested positive, the BCCI took the hard decision of postponing the league indefinitely. Total 29 matches were played in the IPL 2021 before it got postponed and while some players impressed everyone with their performances, there were few who struggled a lot and though they tried, they failed to make an impact.
Nicholas Pooran, the West Indian cricketer who plays for Punjab Kings (Kings XI Punjab), failed to perform well in the IPL 2021. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that the IPL 2021 was no less than a nightmare for him as he got out on duck four times in the six matches that he played. In the remaining two matches, Pooran scored 9 and 19. The Punjab franchise had no option other than replacing Pooran with Dawid Malan. It was quite surprising for everyone as Nicholas Pooran has shown his talent in other T10 and T20 leagues but as far as IPL is concerned, he has failed to make a mark. If we talk about Pooran’s IPL career, he has played 26 innings in which he has scored 549 runs including two fifties.
However, the good thing is that the 25 years old West Indian cricketer is unaffected and not worried with his failure and has assured everyone that he will return stronger.
Nicholas Pooran took to Twitter and posted an image which showed his stats of the IPL2021. He captioned it, “The suspension of the tournament and the reasons behind it are heart breaking, but necessary. See you soon IPL! In the meantime I’ll be using this picture as my motivation to come back stronger than ever. Keep safe everyone.”
In these critical times, many foreigner cricketers have also come forward to help India by making a donation. Recently Nicholas Pooran also announced that he will be donating a portion of his IPL salary for the COVID-19 relief work and also requested others to donate and help Indians in winning the war against the coronavirus pandemic.

Cheteshwar Pujara is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of test cricket and what makes him stand apart from other players is that he is mentally very strong and highly determined. He may have a slow batting style but his presence on the field is more than enough to increase the chances of India’s win. The head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri called Pujara a warrior after he played an important role in India’s win in 4-match test series against Australia which India won by 2-1.
However, Cheteshwar Pujara had to face many problems before getting successful and you will be surprised to know that this mentally tough Indian cricketer once became so weak that he even had doubts about playing cricket. Pujara who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic circuit revealed during a YouTube interview that the toughest time of his career was when he suffered the first injury of his career.
Pujara stated that after he sustained his first injury, the team physio came to him and told him that it would take around 6 months to recover. Pujara said that after hearing this, he got so upset that he started crying and doubts started coming in his mind about playing cricket at international level. However, soon the Saurashtra cricketer started conversing with his father, family members, friends, etc. and they helped him in coming out of negative state by telling him not to worry. Pujara said that shortly he stopped thinking about the future and focused all his thoughts on his present.
According to Pujara, once a person goes into negative state, then everything around him seems negative to him. He adds that he practices meditation and yoga for keeping himself in positive state of mind and his prayers also help him a lot in staying positive.
Cheteshwar Pujara further says that now he is able to handle pressure effectively but in his younger days, he used to cry in front of his mother and say that he is having a lot of pressure and nervousness and he doesn’t want to play cricket.
Pujara has certainly worked pretty hard not just on his cricketing skills but also on his mental strength.

There were many who used to love playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) before it was banned by the Indian government because of its Chinese connections. However, gamers had the option of some other alternate games which were little similar to PUBG such as Free Fire and FAUG was also launched but the PUBG fans were not satisfied with these games.
Now there is good news for the PUBG lovers as their favourite game is all set to return to India but with a new name – “Battlegrounds Mobile India”. The announcement regarding it was made by the South Korean developer Krafton and the gamers can be assured of the fact that the new game will be majorly a replica of PUBG.
Krafton also states that the pre-registrations will start soon but hasn’t given any specific date for the purpose. The new game will not only offer free-to-play gaming on mobiles but also a world-class AAA multiplayer platform. Before the ban was imposed, PUBG had around 50 million users and it was the most popular mobile game in the country.
However this time, the minors (person below 18) will have to follow some conditions as they will be allowed to play maximum 3 hours and that too after getting consent from their parents. One more condition that has been imposed for the minors is that their spending limit has been limited to Rs. 7000.
The Indian Twitterati soon started expressing themselves in the form of memes and jokes as most of the online users were pretty happy with the return of the game in the country. Here are some of the selected reactions:

The IPL 2021 was a pretty big topic of discussion among people as the cricket lovers were very happy that they could have some entertainment in the times when they need to stay at home and there is already so much of negativity around so at least they had an option that could bring smile on their faces and offer some moments of joy and excitement. However, there was one section of the society which was very upset with the government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for conducting the tournament when the whole country is battling against the second wave of COVID-19.
The IPL 2021 got postponed recently as some players were tested COVID-19 positive so BCCI was compelled to take the big decision of postponing the tournament in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the players, staff and every person associated with the league.
The critics of the IPL got one more chance to slam the tournament when a video went viral in which it was seen that an ambulance was stopped so that the convoy of Kolkata Knight Riders could pass.
The video clipping of this incident was posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter by the Twitter handle @iScrew with the caption, “Ahmedabad police stopped an ambulance to let pass IPL cricketers’ convoy in a bizarre turn of events. News18 Gujarati reports this horrible incident that has sparked fury among citizens #Gujarat”.
As the video went viral, the police officials also looked into the matter and after talking to the traffic personnel present at the location, Joint Commissioner of Ahmedabad, Mayanksinh stated that it may be an attempt to malign the image of the police. He says that they have watched the video but police never stops any ambulance for any VIP or IPL players, though he also adds that it may be a matter of momentary confusion. Another police officer questioned why the ambulance was not using the siren if it needed to reach the hospital in time.

The Deputy Police Commissioner, Tejas Patel talked to a leading daily in this regard and said that he had a chat with the traffic police personnel deployed at the location. They told him that two buses of the convoy had already passed when the ambulance arrived over there and stopping the third bus suddenly might have resulted in a mishap. He also added the ambulance had to wait over there for only 16 seconds.
Do you think that conducting the IPL 2021 in the times of the coronavirus pandemic was a wrong decision? Let us know your views on the whole matter.

The IPL 2021 has been postponed indefinitely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after some players tested COVID-19 positive and it became necessary to postpone the tournament for ensuring the safety and well-being of players, support staff and other people associated with the league.
Earlier the board was thinking of taking the whole tournament to Mumbai but after Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals and Wriddhiman Saha of Sunrisers Hyderabad tested positive, the board was left with no option other than postponing the IPL 2021. The tournament had reached the halfway mark as all the teams had faced one another at least once and there were some really wonderful performances by the players which will be remembered by the cricket fans. For example, the blistering knock of Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard or Sanju Samson’s century against Punjab Kings (earlier Kings Xi Punjab), beautiful bowling by Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar, sensational knock by AB de Villiers, etc.
However as per the cricketing analyst and commentator Harsha Bhogle, if there is someone who can be given the title of stand-out all-rounder, it is Ravindra Jadeja who plays for Chennai Super Kings. Harsha Bhogle referred to the match which was played between CSK and Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore. In that match, Ravindra Jadeja scored 62 runs in just 28 balls; out of this 62, he scored 37 runs in the one over which was bowled by Harshal Patel. Jadeja then also showed his class in bowling as he took 3 wickets and gave away only 13 runs. These three dismissals included the very important wickets of AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell plus Jadeja also played an important role in the run out of Dan Christian.
In his video, Harsha Bhogle praised the Indian all-rounder lavishly and also called him Sir Jadeja.
Here is the video:

This soon got noticed by Ravindra Jadeja who took to Twitter to thank Harsha Bhogle for all the appreciation and also requested to call him Ravindra Jadeja only.
This is what Indian cricketer tweeted, “Thanks a lot @bhogleharsha but I will be more happy if you call me Ravindra Jadeja”.
Undoubtedly Ravindra Jadeja is a special player! What do you think?
