Ben Stokes, the England all-rounder, is back to his country after getting his finger injured in his first match against Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab). He is a member of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals and he got his index finger injured while trying to take the catch of Punjab Kings batsman Chris Gayle. The England and Wales Cricket Board has also confirmed that Ben Stokes won’t be playing for almost three months.
Ben Stokes is no longer a part of the IPL 2021 but it doesn’t mean that he is not keeping a track of the IPL matches as recently, he trolled Sunil Gavaskar after the former Indian cricketer slammed Kagiso Rabada during commentary for not using bouncers in a proper manner.
It happened in the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. Kagiso Rabada was bowling the 11th over of the innings and Punjab Kings batsmen KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were on the crease. In this over, Mayank Agarwal hit a six by playing a pull shot while Rahul also hit Rabada for a six by playing a hook shot after which Gavaskar criticized Rabada for not using bouncers in an effective manner.
Ben Stokes trolled Gavaskar by tweeting,

An emotional farewell had been given to Ben Stokes by the Rajasthan franchise as they gifted him RR jersey with his father’s name on it. The RR skipper Sanju Samson gave Ben Stokes the jersey with Gerard Stokes printed on it. Just to inform, Ben’s father took his last breath in December after he lost the battle to Cancer.

AB de Villiers, the former South African cricketer, is certainly one of the best batsmen of the cricket world and recently he has once again shown that there is still a lot of cricket remaining inside him. The 37 years old player has been associated with the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore for a long time now and he is also trying to make a comeback in the national team of South Africa.
RCB has won all the three matches that they have played in the IPL 2021 and in the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders, AB de Villiers played a mighty knock of 76 runs for which he played only 34 deliveries (9 fours & 3 sixes). The batting legend AB de Villiers who is looking forward to play for SA once again revealed in the post-match press conference that he already had a chat with the head coach of the SA team Mark Boucher and will again talk to him after the IPL 2021 gets over. ABD says that if he gets a place in the national team, it will be really fantastic but even if he is not included in the squad, he is still fine with it.
Earlier Mark Boucher also said that he talked to AB de Villiers before he went to play in the IPL 2021 and the conversation is still open. Boucher added that AB wanted to play good cricket in the IPL and wanted to prove it not just to everyone but to himself as well that he is still an important figure in the cricket world and he can rule at the highest level even now.

Glenn Maxwell used to get trolled a lot for his poor performance until the IPL 2020 but in the IPL 2021, we are seeing him in a completely new avatar. Maxwell has played for many franchises till now and has been released by them because of his inconsistent performances. Despite his poor track record, many franchises were interested in buying him and Royal Challengers Bangalore had to pay a huge amount in order to get his services. However, Glenn Maxwell has proved himself to be a great purchase by playing some really good cricket. As far as the match between RCB and KKR is concerned, the former won the toss and decided to bat first at the pitch of MA Chidambaram Stadium. Though RCB lost Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar in quick succession, Glenn Maxwell was absolutely on other level and he rip apart the KKR bowling attack. After Maxwell, the former South African cricketer AB de Villiers wreaked a havoc on KKR by hitting 76 runs in just 34 balls and his innings included 9 fours and 3 sixes. As a result, the Bangalore franchise tasted its straight third win in the tournament.

However, the franchises are leaving no chance of entertaining their fans on the social media networks as well and recently Rajasthan Royals posted a photoshopped image of its player Riyan Parag which went viral instantly.
The Rajasthan franchise photoshopped Parag’s photo and replaced his hairstyle with that of Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga. As soon as the pic was posted, social media users started calling him by different names such as Riyanlinga, Relinga, Rasith Paringa, Lasith Parag, etc.

On April 15, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the list of the players who have been awarded with the annual contracts by the board for the period of October 2020-September 2021. 28 Indian cricketers were awarded these contracts in four categories, the first one is A+ in which a player is paid Rs. 7 crore, the second is A category in which Rs. 5 crore is paid to a cricketer, players from the third category B are paid Rs. 3 crore and the fourth and the last is C category in which cricketers are paid Rs. 1 crore. The final decision in regard to these contracts is made by the President of the BCCI, secretary and the chief selector of the selection committee.
However, some cricket fans were left surprised after seeing that T. Natarajan who is known for his Yorkers was not awarded the annual contract. T. Natarajan made his debut during the Australian series and he became the only player to debut in all the formats in one tour in the recent past. Everyone expected him to make his way in the annual contracts list but he was not able to do that because he didn’t fulfill the eligibility criteria.
In order to get a central contract, a cricketer should have played at least 3 test matches or 8 ODIs or 10 T20Is in a season. However, T. Natarajan has represented India in only 1 test match, 2 ODIs and 4 T20Is because of which he missed the chance of getting the annual contract.
Well, the good thing is that if he plays the required number of matches by September 2021, then also he will be awarded with the annual contract but the money will be paid to him in proportionate basis.
Prithvi Shaw, another young Indian cricketer, also missed the chance of getting the annual contract by BCCI as he has played only one test match while Shubman Gill was awarded the contract as he represented India is 3 test matches.
As far as the A+ category is concerned, only three Indian cricketers come under this category and they are – the Indian team skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
