Gautam Gambhir Disclosed The Worst Thing Indian Team Went Through Post 2011 World Cup Win

Indians are pretty crazy for cricket and today (April 2) is a very important day for the Indian cricket lovers as on the same day 10 years back in 2011, the Indian team won the ICC World Cup 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Recently, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who is now a BJP MP talked about the old memories of the 2011 World Cup in an interview with a leading daily but he also spoke about the one worst thing the Indian squad underwent after winning the World Cup.

Gautam Gambhir played an important role in India’s win as in the nine matches that he played, he scored 393 runs with an average of 43.66 which also included four half-centuries. In the final match which was played against Sri Lanka, Gambhir played a brilliant innings of 97 runs after Lasith Malinga dismissed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in quick succession. MS Dhoni remained unbeaten at 91 and he sealed India’s victory by hitting a sixer on the bowling of Nuwan Kulasekara.

The one worst thing as per Gautam Gambhir which team India underwent after the 2011 ICC World Cup was that the same eleven players never played a match together after the final match. Gambhir said that his teammate Harbhajan Singh told him this and it is certainly the worst thing to happen with a squad.

He added that the best people to answer this question are the coach Duncan Fletcher who took over the reins from Gary Kirsten after the World Cup, skipper MS Dhoni and the selectors (K Srikkanth and others). Gautam Gambhir further says that he believes it has not happened in the history of international cricket that a team which has won the World Cup has never played again together.

After the 2011 ICC World Cup, MS Dhoni chose to implement the rotation policy because of which Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag never played again together. Gautam Gambhir was never in the favour of the rotation policy and earlier he termed it as complete crap.

What is your take in this regard? Do let us know.

Punjab Kings Gets Trolled For Their New Jersey, Twitter Calls It Copy Of RCB’s Old Jersey

The IPL 2021 is all set to start from April 9 with Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore clashing in the opening match and the final of the tournament will be played on May 30 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The IPL franchises which have not been able to perform well in the IPL 2020 are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the IPL 2021 proves to be a good one for them; for example, Chennai Super Kings that is the second most successful team of the league had a pretty bad IPL 2020 and this year, they redesigned their jersey for the first time since the inaugural edition of 2008.

In the similar manner, the Punjab franchise has changed its name from Kings XI Punjab to Punjab Kings as they feel that a team is not just about eleven players but about the whole group. Now the franchise has changed its logo and redesigned their jersey as well. The new logo shows a shield in which the name of the franchise is written with a roaring lion.

However, the new jersey has become the talking point soon as the color of the jersey is also different but contrary to the belief of the management, fans have not liked the jersey as it resembles the old jersey of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Here is how the online users expressed their unhappiness and disappointment:

The Punjab franchise has never won the IPL title but it must be looking forward to change its fortunes in the IPL 2021 under the leadership of KL Rahul who was appointed the skipper in the last season after the franchise released their former skipper Ravichandran Ashwin who was not able to fulfill their dream of winning the tournament in two seasons.

What is your opinion about the new jersey of Punjab Kings? Do you also feel that it is copied from the old jersey of RCB?

Sarandeep Singh Reacts On Virat Kohli’s Removal From Captaincy Because Of His Failure In IPL

The Indian cricket team has been performing pretty well under the leadership of Virat Kohli for quite some time now. Recently, the skipper was also praised for his captaincy and brilliant batting performance against the England squad which lost the 4-match test series by 3-1, 5-match T20I series by 3-2 and 3-match ODI series by 2-1.

However, Virat Kohli is constantly getting slammed for his failure in the IPL as his team Royal Challengers Bangalore has not been able to win the IPL title even once till date. Virat has been associated with RCB since the inaugural edition of 2008 and he has been leading the team since 2013 but could not make his team IPL winner so far. In the IPL 2020 which was played in UAE due to the coronavirus pandemic, RCB did manage to reach the play-offs but was defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the knockout stage.

On the other hand, the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma who leads Mumbai Indians in the IPL has broken all the records of success as he is the most successful skipper of the tournament while MI is the most successful team as it has won the league five times under Hitman’s leadership. The IPL 2020 was also won by Mumbai Indians and they would certainly like to repeat their success in the IPL 2021 too which will start from April 9.

Many times some Indian cricket fans have raised their voices and demanded that India should also follow the concept of split captaincy and make Rohit Sharma the skipper of the team in the shortest format as he has won IPL five times while Virat Kohli is still waiting to win his first.

Though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and both the players have never talked or given any statement in this regard, the former national selector Sarandeep Singh opened up on this matter during an interview to a leading daily. Sarandeep Singh’s tenure as a selector has ended with the Australian series and he states that no discussion in regard to split captaincy has ever taken place because Virat Kohli has performed in a superb manner both as a batsman and as a skipper.

Sarandeep adds that split captaincy comes in scene when the skipper is not performing so the pressure of captaincy is taken from him by making someone else skipper but Virat is the only batsman to score at the average of 50 in all the formats so there is no question of split captaincy. According to Sarandeep, Virat is undoubtedly the fittest player of the Indian cricket team and Rohit Sharma is always there to lead the squad in Virat’s absence. However, he also adds that Virat can’t be removed from captaincy just because his team has not won an IPL trophy.

Despite the fact that the Indian team management tried many opening options in T20Is as KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and even Virat Kohli opened with Rohit Sharma but in Sarandeep Singh’s opinion, the right-left combination of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan is the best choice for the World Cup. Sarandeep said that he was quite surprised with these experiments as Dhawan performed well in the IPL and then in Australia. He also calls Dhawan a mentally strong player, adding that Gabbar has played well whenever he is given a chance. As per Sarandeep Singh, many important decisions will depend on the IPL and it is not easy to secure place in the team.

Do you feel that Virat Kohli and his IPL team RCB will be able to win the tournament this year?

Chris Morris Reacts On Dale Steyn’s Comment Regarding IPL Being Less Rewarding Than PSL & LPL

IPL 2021 is all set to begin from April 9 and all eyes will be on those players who have been bought at exorbitant prices including Chris Morris who has become the highest ever paid cricketer after Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs. 16.25 crore in the IPL 2021 auctions. Chris Morris is also from South Africa and recently he opened up on the comparison made between different leagues by his teammate Dale Steyn.

If you remember, some time ago, the South African pacer Dale Steyn went to Pakistan for playing Pakistan Super League and in an interview, he said that he feels other leagues such as PSL or Sri Lankan Cricket League are more rewarding than IPL as a player because IPL is all about money. As per Dale Steyn, cricket takes a back seat in IPL while in smaller leagues, the game is given importance.

This did not go well with the Indian cricket fans and they slammed him mercilessly. However later on, Dale Steyn apologized to the Indian cricket lovers and also said that he never intended to show disrespect to any league.

While speaking in an interview, Chris Morris says that he doesn’t feel the same way as Dale Steyn feels, though he also adds that Dale Steyn is a free spirit, one of the greatest of all time and his favourite player too. Chris further adds that Dale has his opinions, he doesn’t mind speaking about them and he said what he was feeling at that time, whether it was at emotional level, physical level or mental level.

Chris goes on to say that what Dale Steyn feels is something that he feels and he will like to talk to him on this matter. He also says that we are different persons with different opinions and this is how the world goes around.

Rajasthan Royals will depend a lot on Chris Morris in IPL 2021, especially after Jofra Archer won’t be able to play the first four matches of RR in the league as he has undergone a surgery recently.

Do you also feel that other leagues are more rewarding than IPL just like Dale Steyn thinks or do you have different opinion over it? Let us know your views.
