Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has become God for many in the past one year due to the help that he provided to the needy people during the coronavirus pandemic. It all started in the COVID-19 outbreak as Sonu and his team used to provide food to those who were from different cities but got stuck in Mumbai after the government imposed lockdown to stop the spread of the lethal virus.
At that time, a number of migrant labourers started their journey for home on foot with their families. Those scenes were really heartbreaking and brought tears in the eyes of many people but Sonu decided that he would certainly do something for all the migrant labourers who wanted to return to their home towns but didn’t have the resources.
Sonu Sood not only arranged the transportation for the migrant workers but also talked to the concerned state governments so that the migrant workers did not face any problem. He is continuing with the good work that he started at that time and he is still helping those who are asking him for help.
Recently, a female Twitter user named Jyoti Raj who is from Bihar contacted Sonu Sood asking him to help her in taking care of her family and kids by providing her with an incense sticks making machine.
In response, Sonu Sood writes that he is sending the machine but he also puts forth a condition that Jyoti should give the first packet of incense sticks to him.
Sonu Sood has been praised all over the world for his noble deeds and it has also brought a great change in his acting career as he is now getting offers for the role of hero in movies. Even a superstar like Chiranjeevi is not willing to hit Sonu in the film as he feels that people will curse him if he beats Sonu.
Ravichandran Ashwin had a great time during the four match test series between India and England as he took 32 wickets in the series and also crossed the 400th wicket mark during the series. India won the test series by 3-1 as England won the first test match which was played at Chennai but then India made a strong comeback and won all the three remaining test matches.
However, the series became a little controversial due to the unnecessary slamming of the pitches by the former England cricketers. The pitch of the third test match which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium was especially on the target of former England cricketers as the Indian team won the test match by 10 wickets and the match ended in just 2 days with the Indian spinners completely dominating the game. The fourth and the final test match also ended in 2.5 days and once again the Indian spinners proved to be too good for the England batsmen as India won the match by 25 runs and an innings.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been quite vocal against those who have criticised the pitches and recently while speaking in a virtual press conference, he says that this series is a proof that the Indian cricket team is very good.
He refers to Sunil Gavaskar’s statement and states that he feels what Little Master has said about those who are criticising pitch is absolutely correct.
Some time ago, Sunil Gavaskar said that we should not give importance to those who are slamming the pitch because they are speaking more as they are grabbing attention. He went on to say that we should respond to all the pitch critics with “chal phutt” (get lost) as nobody cares about the pitches when the Indian team travels overseas; it is only when the other teams visit India and lose, then they start blaming pitches.
R Ashwin adds that by giving attention to these critics, we are encouraging them more to make fun of the game. He says that one day, he will like to see the Indian commentators talking about the pitches with grass in other countries and making an Instagram post about it. Ashwin also states that he will like to see the reaction of global media on such Instagram posts and then it will be clear as to who is making mistakes.
What is your take on Ashwin’s statement? Do you agree with him and Sunil Gavaskar?
The young Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar played an important role in the victory of his team in the fourth and final test match against England as he played a beautiful knock of 96 unbeaten which was certainly no less than a century.
It was quite disappointing for not just Washington Sundar but also the Indian cricket lovers that he was not able to complete his ton as the Indian tailenders were not able to face the England bowlers for a brief time period. Washington Sundar batted beautifully and was a part of two century partnerships, first with Rishabh Pant and then with Axar Patel. After Axar Patel got out, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj got out in quick succession as India lost last three wickets in just 5 balls.
Washington Sundar’s father was also very upset with tailenders and said that it was not a matter of skills or technique, it was just about courage. As per him, many youngsters must have been watching the tailenders but they should not learn anything from them.
The former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer who is known for his hilarious tweets with memes took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and posted a meme of a scene from the Bollywood movie “3 Idiots”. In his tweet, Wasim Jaffer not only took a dig at the Indian tailenders but also praised Washington for his brilliant knock.
Wasim Jaffer wrote, “Axar, Ishant and Siraj next time they meet Washington’s father at a function But seriously this 96* is no less than a hundred, very well played @Sundarwashi5 #INDvENG”.

Social media users also trolled tailenders as Washington Sundar could not complete his century and now finally Sundar has also responded to Wasim Jaffer’s tweet.
The young Indian cricketer wrote, “Thanks a lot bhaiya! Dad will definitely treat them with a lot of biryani and Halwa!”

With the win in the fourth test match, the Indian team has also confirmed its seat in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 in which they will be facing Kane Williamson led New Zealand.
As far as England’s tour is concerned, India and England will be playing 5 match T20I series starting March 12 and after that, both the teams will be facing each other in the 3 ODIs.
Vidya Balan is certainly one of the most talented Bollywood actresses of the present times and she has also broken the stereotype that the lead actresses have to be slim and skinny. Recently in an interview with a leading daily, she talked about the fat shaming that happened with her and how she dealt with it.
Vidya said that she had been fat all her life and it took time for her to accept her body. She said that as she hails from a family which was not connected with movies, there was no one to tell her that such phases don’t end and her weight would become a national topic for discussion.
“The Dirty Picture” star says that fluctuating weight matters to her even today and she has seen a lot in life till now. Vidya Balan adds that she has suffered from hormonal problems all her life and for majority part of her life, she has hated her body as when she needed to look the best, she would bloat up and feel annoyed and frustrated.
The “Mission Mangal” actress further says that over time, she has realized that her body is very important as it is what keeping her alive because if it stops working, she won’t be around. She adds that though she may have gone through a lot, she is thankful towards her body and has also started to love and accept herself as she is but it was not easy initially.
Vidya Balan also makes it clear that now it doesn’t matter to her what people are saying about her hair, thickness of arms, weight, etc. She concludes by saying that not much should be expected from people as they don’t understand you when a girl grows up fat.
That’s quite correct that we should love ourselves the way we are and Vidya deserves to be applauded for openly talking about such issues!
The Indian cricket team once again made fans happy by performing top class in the recently concluded India-England test series and winning it by 3-1. Now India will be playing the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 against New Zealand in June at Lord’s.
Earlier the Indian squad defeated the Australian team in the four match test series by 2-1 in their own backyard. The victory in Australia is more special because in the last three matches, the Indian side played without the best Indian test batsman and skipper Virat Kohli and some other senior players.
There is no doubt that the head coach of the Indian team Ravi Shastri has been performing his duties in an effective manner but still there are some online users who are always after him and keep on trolling him whenever they get a chance. Ravi Shastri gets trolled more because of his love for liquor so recently, the former Indian cricketer has opened up on the memes which are made on him along with the trolls and makes it clear that he is not at all affected with it.
While speaking with the mediapersons in a press conference after the fourth and the final test match against England, he says that it is just banter and fun. He adds that though it is at his expense, he is fine with it as many people get to laugh after watching those memes. He adds that anyone can have a drink in his name and also says that it is a part of the game as if you are winning, people will praise you but if you don’t win, you will have to face the kicks and the slaps.
India and England will be clashing soon against each other in the 5-match T20 series starting March 12 and after that, they will also play 3-match ODI series.
Shahid Afridi is certainly a very famous Pakistani cricketer and even after his retirement from the international level, he has been able to make headlines because of his controversial statements in the recent past. He is again all over social media and news portals but this time it is because of good news of his daughter getting engaged to the young Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Afridi.
A lot of speculation was taking place regarding the matchmaking of Shaheen Afridi and Shahid Afridi’s daughter on the social media platforms until Shahid Afridi himself cleared the air by telling his fans and followers that Shaheen’s family has approached his family for his daughter and both the families are communicating in this regard.
Here is what Shahid Afridi tweeted, “Shaheen’s family approached my family for my daughter. Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field.”
Shaheen's family approached my family for my daughter. Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field.
Soon a video from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) went viral in which both Shahid and Shaheen are seen contesting against each other. The video is from the PSL 2018 in which Shahid Afridi represented Karachi while Shaheen played for Lahore. Shahid Afridi faced the young pacer in the match and on the very first ball, he hit him for a maximum but Shaheen made a beautiful comeback by bowling out the veteran cricketer as the middle stump flew in the air. What was noticed by everyone was that Shaheen didn’t celebrate Shahid’s dismissal as a mark of respect but now people are connecting it with this news and some creative people are also making memes and jokes on it.
Recently an online user posted the same video but embedded the song, “Suno Sasur Ji” from Bollywood movie “Dulhe Raja” which starred Govinda, Raveena Tandon and Kader Khan in important roles.
Everything around us is progressing day by day but there are still things that seem very difficult to be changed. Since there isn’t much that we can do about these judgments, there are a few who decide to live life without any regrets! The Boss Girls!
Today is International Women’s Day which celebrates the never give up attitude of the women community. In some countries, this day is for protesting as women raise their voices for their rights whereas in several other nations, womanhood is celebrated on this day.
There is no doubt that mostly the society has been non-supportive towards the women as they have always been considered inferior to men and suitable for only household chores. However, the good thing is that a considerable change has come in the mentality and attitude of people and now not only the young girls but the adult women are also breaking the stereotypes. The society judges a female on every step she takes whether it is related to her driving skills or her age, the strap of her innerwear or the changes that come in her body which she experiences as she ages.
On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Kara Studios and The Short Cuts have come up with a brilliant video entitled “Before You Judge Me” featuring Vanika Sangtani who talks about how a girl or a woman is judged by the society but it is the comments, presumptions, etc. of people which make women more determined to prove the society wrong. She takes us on a long ride of what it takes to break common stereotypes. This young girl writes and shares an unapologetic poem about her choices and decisions often challenged by everyone around her.
Vanika Sangtani needs to be appreciated for the beautiful manner in which she has put across the challenges faced by a girl and what she does in order to overcome those challenges to prove that whether she gets supported by the society or not, she will always emerge as a winner.
Here you can watch the lovely video of Vanika asking the society to at least know her better before judging her:
Happy Women’s Day to every gorgeous, courageous and strong woman of the world! We hope that the crimes against women will also reduce as we celebrate the spirit of the womanhood.
