Steve Smith is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of the present times but he was released by his old franchise Rajasthan Royals after his poor performance in the IPL 2020. However, what surprised people was the fact that Delhi Capitals had to spend only Rs. 2.2 crore for buying this Aussie cricketer.
There was one more thing which left people in a confused state and that was the opening bid for Steve Smith by Royal Challengers Bangalore but after that, RCB remained silent. Now the Bangalore franchise has revealed the reason behind backing out from the bidding of Steve Smith after making just one bid.
RCB was quite determined to get Glenn Maxwell in their team as they needed a player who can go and bat after Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers and he can also bowl but Steve Smith is definitely not a bowler. While Glenn Maxwell for whom RCB spent a whopping amount of Rs. 14.25 crore, can decrease the pressure from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, his inclusion will also increase bowling options for the team.
In a video posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter by the official Twitter handle of RCB, the Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson explains the reason behind bidding for Steve Smith and then getting out.
The video was captioned,
“Bold Diaries: The curious case of Steve Smith bid
Why did the RCB management withdraw after the first bid? Here’s the video of the planning that went behind the Steve Smith bid this #IPLAuction2021.

RCB never wanted to buy Steve Smith but they made the opening bid for increasing the price of the Australian cricketer so that they can empty the wallet of a franchise which will further make it easy for them to buy Glenn Maxwell as other franchises would have spent the majority part of their wallet.
Well this was certainly a nice strategy! What do you say?

Creativity is certainly a gift that very few people have and once such person is Twitter user Surekha Pillai’s mother who created a jasmine garland from tissue paper. Yes, you read that right!
Recently, Surekha Pillai took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and shared the photo of the jasmine garland (malli) created by her mother and she also posted a couple of tweets in which she is seen wearing the jasmine garland in her hair just like the original gajra.
She states that she will wear this garland with all types of dresses and also reveals that her mother worked diligently for making this malli despite the fact that she is suffering from joint pains and aches. Surekha also says that this strand of malli smells lovelier than all the flowers that her hair has seen.
Check out her tweets:
Soon Twitter users started expressing their opinion on the jasmine garland made of tissue paper. While many felt as if Surekha’s mother has brought the flowers alive, some people appreciated her talent and said that the gajra looks absolutely real and they would not have believed that it’s made of tissue paper if Surekha had not disclosed it.

The best thing about this malli is that it will last forever and Surekha will be able to wear whenever she wants.
Can you also make such beautiful things with an inanimate object?

Customers are very important for every shopkeeper and the latter does a lot of things to attract the customers but sometimes things turn ugly when the shopkeepers resort to violence in regard to this matter.
A video is going viral on the Internet in which some people are seen fighting in a brutal manner with sticks and rods. This incident took place in Atithi Bhavan market area, Baghpat district, in which two chaat stall owners and their workers got embroiled in a fight. It is being said that the fight lasted for around 20 minutes and the video was shot by a person present over there.
The Baghpat Police also came into action soon and arrested 8 people from both sides. Though 12 people have got injured in the fight, no one has sustained serious injury. A police official also stated that the dispute over attracting customers escalated into a fight between the two chaat vendors.
Here is the video clip of the fight:

The Internet was in splits after the video went viral not because of the fight but for the red haired uncle who seem to be a mix of Dr. Mashoor Gulati, scientist Albert Einstein and Virus from Aamir Khan starrer “3 Idiots” movie. The name of red haired uncle is Harvinder and he has been running the chaat stall for many years now but now he is getting competition from the new chaat stalls.
While speaking to ANI UP, Harvinder reveals that the new chaat vendors are spreading fake information about the quality of his chaat and asking people not to eat at his stall because he is selling stale products. The other chaat vendors also came up with mobile units near Harvinder’s stall and tried to steal his customers.
The video helped the police a lot in identifying people involved in the brawl. On the other hand, Twitter came up with funny memes on uncle from Baraut and here are some of the selected reactions:

The IPL 2021 auction was full of surprises in terms of the huge amount fetched by some players and also for the fact that some star players remained unsold. The Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell has stuck a fortune even after being released by his old franchise Punjab Kings (earlier known as Kings XI Punjab) before the auction because of his poor performance in the IPL 2020 that took place in UAE.
This year Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) purchased Glenn Maxwell for Rs. 14.25 crore which made him the third highest purchase in the IPL 2021. There is no denying the fact that Glenn Maxwell is earning a lot in the IPL as in the last three years only, he has taken home a whopping amount of Rs. 34 crore.
Presently, Australia and New Zealand are clashing against each other in the 5 match T20I series and during the first T20 match which was won by New Zealand, the Australian cricketer David Warner got the chance of doing commentary with former Aussie cricketer Mark Waugh. During the same, Warner didn’t miss the chance of having some fun by talking about Maxwell’s IPL deal.
David Warner who leads Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL said that Maxwell didn’t get bad results in the IPL auction and after this, Mark Waugh added that it was certainly not a bad one especially after considering his performance in the last season.
David Warner further expresses his sense of amazement as to how surprising it is that a player is released by his franchise but then he gets a bigger deal. Warner also adds that everyone knows what Glenn Maxwell is capable of and the expectation must be pretty high, adding that hopefully Maxwell will deliver.
Has RCB done the right thing by spending so much on Glenn Maxwell? What are your thoughts on this? Let us know?

Amrita Rao, the beautiful Bollywood actress who has entertained us with her superb acting performances in movies, is now the proud mother of a baby boy whom she and her husband RJ Anmol have named Veer. Veer was born in the month of November last year and since then Amrita and Anmol have been enjoying parenthood.
The actress has given an interview to a leading daily recently in which she has revealed that sometimes she is still not able to believe Veer is for real. She adds that management and discipline are something which a kid teaches his parents and she feels that motherhood is a mix of many emotions, such as excitement, joy, entertainment, frustration, exhaustion and so on.
She also talks about the changes that have come in her life after becoming a mother. Amrita says that she could have hired a professional staff for taking care of her son but she doesn’t even have a nanny. She further states that as they have flexibility in their professions, she and Anmol do everything for the baby, whether it’s making him bath, playing with him or changing his diaper. Amrita says that she still feels like a college girl but a little fuller; however her hubby says that earlier she was cute but after baby, she has become hot. Amrita says that she feels every woman becomes hotter after becoming a mother.
Amrita goes on to say that all the moms of 2020 would have some stories to narrate to their kids as the year was quite a tough one. She says that she would have never believed she would be learning to cook during her pregnancy and that too, for 21 days continuously. According to her, the pregnancies of 2020 were the healthiest as there was no junk food but only mother cooked food and the phones were also silent. She said that she had no tension of losing any work because everything was closed in lockdown, adding that hubby being around during pregnancy is certainly a great thing. Another experience that was super cool for her was online shopping for the baby.
Talking about acting, she says that she will love to do roles that Tabu did in “Maqbool”, “Astitva” and “Cheeni Kum”. She further adds that in the 1950s, 60 and 70s, the actresses were able to work even after their marriage and they had no problem in getting the roles of leading ladies but it changed in 1980s, 90s and 2000s. However, she mentions that things are changing now and the actresses of today are setting up right example by getting married in the peak of their careers and working even after that also.
The “Vivah” star also opens up on her journey in Bollywood and states that she has worked in some really good movies and not many youngsters have seen the back-to-back success like her. Amrita further says that the fame and love that she got was because of her work and not due to PR and promotions, however she also accepts that she was denied some opportunities which she deserved because she didn’t have a godfather in B-Town. But she is happy with the fact that she never had to ask for work and was approached by big directors and banner. She also reveals that she has refused some roles as well because she was not comfortable doing intimate scenes. In the end, Amrita says that the sweetest thing is the feeling of being self-made.

The third test match of the ongoing four match test series between India and England will start from February 24 in Ahmedabad and it will be a day and night test match in which pink ball will be used. Presently, the series is leveled at 1-1 with the first test match being won by England and the second one being won by the hosts. Both the test matches were played in Chennai and the former England cricketers were pretty upset with the pitch which was used in the second test match.
While in the first test match, the ball started turning after the second day; in the second test match ball began to turn from the very first delivery. During a press conference, the Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma expressed his opinion on the pitches and he was quite firm while saying that the teams should make full use of the advantage of playing at home.
Rohit Sharma said that both the teams played on the same pitch and in India, pitches are being made in the same manner for years. He adds that no changes have been made in this concern and he thinks that there is no need of making any changes whatsoever. Hitman is quite clear in saying that every team takes the advantage of playing at home and when the Indian squad goes overseas to play, nobody thinks about them so why India should think about others, they should also make the pitches that suits the Indian players.
He further says that he finds it difficult to understand why there is so much discussion on the topic of pitches, people should talk about the game, the players, etc. Rohit also says that if you want to remove the home or away advantage, ask the International Cricket Council (ICC) to make a rule and set standards for the same type of pitches in India and outside India as well.

The Indian cricketer got support not just from the Indian cricketers but also from a much unexpected corner. The former England cricketer Michael Vaughan who was quite critical of the Chennai test pitch which was used for second test match also supported Rohit Sharma as he shared the video with caption, “Totally Agree…”.
As soon as Michael Vaughan supported Rohit Sharma, the Indian Twitterati once again trolled him as many are quite sure that the former England cricketer must not have understood what Rohit said, he just read the caption and supported Hitman.

The remaining two test matches are quite important for both the teams as India needs to win at least one and draw the other for reaching the finals of the ICC World Test Championship while England needs to win both the test matches for playing the finals.

The auction for the IPL 2021 may have got over on February 18 but people are still talking about the players who have fetched a huge price and also about those cricketers who remained unsold. Aaron Finch, one of the biggest cricketers of the present scenario who leads the Australian team in the shorter formats was also one of those who didn’t find a buyer in the IPL auction this year and it was undoubtedly quite surprising for everyone.
What makes it more shocking is the fact that Aaron Finch is the only player who has played for all the original eight franchises in the past but no team was interested in buying the Aussie skipper. In the IPL 2020, the 34 years old player was a part of Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore and his performance was quite dismal as he scored only 268 runs in the 12 matches that he played for his team. The Bangalore franchise had spent Rs. 4.4 crore for buying Aaron Finch and they released him before the IPL 2021 auction.
Recently during an interview, Aaron Finch opened up on remaining unsold in the IPL 2021 auction and he said that it was not something which was unexpected. He further says that he would have loved to play but now he will have a great time with his family. Aaron Finch has been playing cricket from August 2020 without taking a break so he is quite excited about being at home for some time now, though he also adds that he will miss playing in the IPL as it is an amazing contest. At one fell swoop, he also mentions that his wife is looking forward to spend good time with him at home.
On the other hand, the former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke is very much in shock with Aaron Finch not being bought for the IPL 2021. In an interview, Clarke says that if the skipper of the Australian cricket team doesn’t get picked up in the IPL, either the IPL franchises or the Aussie selectors are wrong. Aaron Finch’s tough phase continued in the Australian premier league, i.e., Big Bash League as well but still he has been retained as the skipper for the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand which starts from today (Feb 22).
What according to you could be the reason of Aaron Finch not being picked by any IPL franchise? Share your opinion with us.
