Wasim Jaffer Compares Indian Pitches With Mars Landing Photo, Twitter Goes Crazy

The micro-blogging site Twitter has become a great platform for the cricketers to interact with their fans and followers and many former cricketers are also using it for expressing their opinions on various matters related to cricket.

The former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has garnered a huge fan base on Twitter and all the credit goes to his unique style of posting tweets in which he uses memes and photos in order to convey his thoughts in a humorous way. The Mumbai cricketer doesn’t shy away from taking a jibe at the opponents of team India and recently he targeted the England cricket team as well as former England cricketers.

On Friday, Wasim Jaffer tweeted a photo of Mars’ surface from the live streaming of NASA’s Perseverance Rover and described how impactful Indian bowlers would be on that surface. He writes that the dry surface seems to be helpful for spin and Indian bowlers – Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be unplayable while pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj will cause havoc with reverse swing which they will be able to get after 3 overs.

Here is what Wasim Jaffer wrote, “It looks a dry surface conducive for spin. Ash and Jaddu will be unplayable. Boom, Shami, Umesh, Ishant, Siraj will cause havoc with reverse swing as ball will get scuffed up after 3 overs. Team India’s bowling attack suitable for all conditions 😉 #MarsLanding #INDvsENG”

Here is the pic that Wasim Jaffer shared:

Twitter applauded Wasim Jaffer for his amazing sense of wit and humour and this is how fans reacted:

With this tweet, Jaffer took a jibe at the former England cricketers Michael Vaughan, David Floyd, etc. who were slamming the Chennai pitch of the second test match after the pitch supported the spin bowlers from the very first ball unlike after two days in the first test match. The Indian spinners bowled in a superb manner and helped their team win the second test match by 317 runs. The series is leveled at 1-1 as England had won the first test match by 227 runs.

While the first two test matches were played in Chennai, the last two test matches of the four match test series will be played in Ahmedabad. This series is quite important for both the teams as the winner of this series will be playing the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Out of the remaining two test matches, India needs to win one test match and at least end the other one in a draw while England needs to win both the test matches for playing the final.

The third test match will be starting from February 24; which team has the better chance of winning the series in your opinion? Do let us know.

Sachin Tendulkar Showers Praises On Virat Kohli For Opening Up On His Depression

The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is known for not just his cricketing skills but also his love for fitness and it won’t be wrong to say that he is an inspiration for many young aspiring cricketers who want to play for the country. Virat is one of the most followed celebrities and he has a huge global fanbase too but what makes him so loved is the fact that he doesn’t care as to what everyone thinks of him and likes to remain true, not just to himself but to his fans as well.

Recently during an interview in “Not Just Cricket” podcast with former England cricketer Mark Nicholas, Virat Kohli talked on many aspects of his life including the time when he suffered depression. It happened during the Indian team’s tour of England 2014 in which Virat was in pretty poor form and scored only 134 runs in the 10 innings that he played.

Virat said that it was certainly not a great feeling to know that you would not be able to score many runs and there was nothing he could do about it. He further added that every cricketer faces this type of situation when things are not in his control at all.

The Indian skipper also talked about the need of professional help in such a scenario despite the fact that he had many people to talk to but they were no match to professional help. He adds that he honestly feels things should change and professional help should be provided because things can go like this for a long time, many months, sometimes for whole cricket season. At one fell swoop, Virat also adds that mental health should not be ignored.

Virat Kohli being such a big celebrity, it would have been pretty difficult for him to open up on this subject and this was liked a lot by the legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar who took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and praised the RCB skipper for showing courage to share such an experience. Sachin also says that nowadays the youth is getting judged on social media and while there are many to talk on this subject, there is no one to talk to the youngsters and the need of the hour is that they should be listened.

Sachin tweeted, “@imVkohli, proud of your success & decision to share such personal experiences. These days youngsters are constantly judged on social media. Thousands speak about them but not to them. We need to be able to listen to them and help them flourish.”

Virat also talked about the advice given by Sachin Tendulkar which helped him in dealing with depression and getting over it. Virat said that Sachin told him from his personal experience that in cricket, if you are having a strong negative emotion which is coming into your system on a regular basis, you should not fight with it, just let it pass. Kohli said that he worked on this advice and it helped him a lot.

Always listen to the legend!

Chahal Welcomes Glenn Maxwell To RCB, Compares Himself & Maxwell With Cartoon Characters

The auction for the IPL 2021 took place on February 18 and all the franchises tried their best to get the best talent from the pool. While some players like Chris Morris (Rs. 16.25 crores), Kyle Jamieson (Rs. 15 crores), etc. fetched huge prices, several cricketers including Aaron Finch and Sam Billings went unsold.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also spent a huge amount of Rs. 14.25 crores on the Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell which makes him the third most expensive cricketer of the IPL 2021 auction. RCB had released 10 players franchise including Chris Morris, Moeen Ali, Umesh Yadav, etc. ahead of the auction so many were quite hopeful that RCB would definitely go for Glenn Maxwell. The Australian cricketer was also on the wish list of Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders because of which Glenn Maxwell got such a huge amount.

Earlier Glenn Maxwell has also stated that he wishes to play for RCB as he wants to play with his idol AB de Villiers and will like to play under Virat Kohli’s leadership. There is no doubt that expectations from Maxwell will be pretty high now after such a huge amount has been spent on him but the last season of the IPL which was held in UAE was pretty tough for Glenn Maxwell as he was able to score only 108 in the 13 matches that he played for his old team Punjab Kings (earlier known as Kings XI Punjab). However, he performed pretty well against the Indian team in the ODI series when they went on the tour of Australia just after the IPL. Punjab Kings had also spent a whopping amount of Rs. 10.75 crores on the Aussie cricketer but released him ahead of the auction after his poor performance in the IPL 2020.

The Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal who is an integral part of RCB and is also known for his funny and witty posts on social media network didn’t miss much time in welcoming Glenn Maxwell by posting a tweet in which he compared himself and Maxwell to the cartoon characters – Tom and Jerry.

Yuzi tweeted, “When Tom and Jerry are finally in the same team @RCBTweets welcome to the family brother @Gmaxi_32  let’s #playbold #IPL2021Auction”

Here is the tweet:

Glenn Maxwell and Yuzvendra Chahal were teammates when they both used to play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2013 and this tweet certainly shows the bond that these two players share with each other.

Do you think that Glenn Maxwell’s inclusion in RCB will help the Bangalore franchise in winning the IPL 2021 as Virat Kohli led team has never won an IPL trophy? Let us know your opinion.
