Joe Root, the skipper of the England cricket team, has played a beautiful innings of 218 runs and helped his team in scoring a huge total of 555/8 by the end of the second day of the first test match against India. There is no denying the fact that the pitch of Chepauk Stadium will turn a lot as the match progresses and the English spinners may use it for their benefit; however, the Indians are known as good players of spin.
Joe Root is playing his 100th test match and the manner in which he is playing, it won’t be wrong to say that he is continuing from where he left in Sri Lanka where his team won the 2 match test series by 2-0. However, it is not easy to adjust in the Indian conditions and the England skipper also experienced a cramp on the first day of the test match.
But what caught everybody’s attention was that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli helped his England counterpart by helping him in stretching exercises before his team physio came on the ground.
The English skipper was all praises for Virat Kohli in the virtual press conference as he said that it was a good example of sportsmanship from Virat and it was really kind of him that he helped. Joe Root realized that he needed to take more fluids which he didn’t do on the first day but he also said that he would compensate for it by eating and resting well in the night. Talking about the first day, he said that it was a nice day as the breeze was flowing and he was trying to adjust with the surface and the bounce. As per him, the longer the batsman stays on the pitch, the easier it becomes for him to bat and he strongly believes that the best hundred is the next one.

The first test match between India and England has reached at a very interesting point because England has put up a huge score of 555/8 on the board by the end of the day 2 and England batsmen Dom Bess (28) and Jack Leach (6) are still on the crease. It won’t be wrong to say that both the days belonged to the English skipper Joe Root who continued with his good form and scored a double century. Joe Root played beautifully on the Sri Lankan tour as well where the two-match series was won by England by 2-0.
For India, the day one was quite frustrating as the English skipper Joe Root strengthened the innings with Dom Sibley and then with Ben Stokes and he himself completed his century by the end of the day. When it was getting quite frustrating for the bowlers, the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant used his wittiness and sense of humour for cheering up the Indian cricketers.
In the third session, during the 70th over of the innings, Dom Sibley defended a delivery bowled by Washington Sundar. The Indian wicketkeeper brought smile on the faces of Indian cricketers by saying, “Mera naam hai Washington, mereko jana hai DC (My name is Washington and I have to go to DC)”.

As far as the Indian bowlers are concerned, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shahbaz Nadeem and Ravichandran Ashwin – all four have managed to take 2 wickets each.
With more than 550 runs on the board in the first test match, the English team has certainly shown their batting power and has managed to put themselves in a position from where the chances of them losing the match are pretty less. Now a lot will depend on the Indian batsmen and hopefully they will also prove themselves at this slow and turning pitch.

The Indian cricket team must be hoping for a miracle as getting the England skipper Joe Root out seems very difficult, if not an impossible task for the Indian bowlers. In the first test match of the four-match series, the England team has scored 473/5 with Joe Root batting at 217 till the time the article was written. The first test match is being played at Chepauk stadium in Chennai and the Indian players have nothing much to do other than watching the England batsmen batting beautifully.
Though England lost Rory Joesph Burns and Dan Lawrence in quick succession, Joe Root along with Dom Sibley stabilized the innings. After Dom Sibley got out at the score of 87, Ben Stokes came out in the middle and accompanied his skipper in strengthening the position of England in the test match. Ben Stokes also played a good innings of 82 runs and now Jos Buttler is on the crease as Ollie Pope has been sent back to pavilion by the Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
There was one more thing other than Joe Root’s superb innings that got a lot of attention and that was a photo in which the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are seen together looking at the ball which was travelling towards the boundary. This incident took place when Joe Root played a shot on the balling of Shahbaz Nadeem. While the two Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were looking at the ball, the cameraman focused his camera on them and soon this photo became a viral material due to the manner in which they both are looking.

The cricket teams of India and England are already clashing against each other in the four-match test series as the first test match has started today at Chidambaram stadium and the visitors have made a solid start. England has scored 263/3 on the first day of the first test match with their skipper Joe Root not out at 128.
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is back and leading the team while Ajinkya Rahane is back into his role of vice-captain. Rahane has given interview to a leading daily before the match in which he has stated that the Indian players may be playing together with foreign players in Indian Premier League but they don’t disclose the tactics used by them at the highest level to the foreign players. He adds that there is a vast difference between IPL and test cricket and the length at which the England bowlers will bowl in the test cricket will be different than the length at which they bowl in IPL.
Rahane further says that though they play together with foreign players, this doesn’t mean that they tell everything to them. He goes on to say that when a player plays for country, he tries to give his best performance, individually and as a team too.
Ajinkya Rahane also lauds the England team and calls it a very strong and balanced unit which has done pretty well against the Sri Lankans. He showers praises on Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer and calls them very good players.

Their one-of-its-kind food menu card is getting a lot of attention on the social media networks and the creators of this card – the groom Gogol Saha and bride Subarna Das who is a healthcare worker by profession are pretty happy about it. It was Subarna who came up with this idea and Gogol supported her completely. Gogol says that they both are supporters of Digital India and he thought of it a great way to show their faith in it. He also told that the guests just loved the idea and few of them even asked him whether they left their Aadhaar card on the dining table which was quite hilarious.
The food menu has traditional Bengali dishes along with chicken lollipop, coffee and crispy babycorn in the starters. On the back side of the card, it is also written that the card is valid for today only with the name of the caterers as well.
A Twitter user shared the photos of the unique food menu card and also pokes fun by writing that a person may have to go with a Voter ID Card for attending their marriage.

The first test match between India and England has started at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and England decided to bat after winning the toss. The visitors have justified their decision as till the time this article was written, they were batting at 163/2 with Dom Sibley and skipper Joe Root both batting at the score of 60 each. This series is very important for both the teams as the winner of the series will be locking horns with New Zealand in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship which will be played at Lord’s in June this year.

The Indian team played four-match test series in Australia recently and won it by 2-1 after suffering a humiliating defeat in the first test match at Adelaide. Many former cricketers predicted that the Aussies would win the series by 4-0 as the Indian skipper returned after the first test match but the Indian squad performed brilliantly and won the Melbourne test match and leveled the series by 1-1. In the Sydney test match, the Australians had an upper hand for the first four days but the Indians showed great fighting spirit and saved the test match by ending it in a draw.
The Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin played a great role in saving the Sydney test match as he along with Hanuma Vihari played 259 balls. The Aussies got very frustrated, the skipper Tim Paine also lost his cool and said to Ashwin that he can’t wait to see him at Gabba. In response, Ashwin told Paine that he also can’t wait to see him in India and that will be Paine’s last series.
