In the older times, we used to mug up the phone numbers of those whom we used to call frequently and wrote down the numbers of others in a diary which we used to keep with us. However with the advent of smartphones, it has become very easy for us to save the phone numbers of as many people as we want. The smartphones have made us smart as well because now we don’t need to remember any number as we can easily dial the number by searching the name in the contact list.

Representational Image

But everyone has his own style of saving the numbers as some people like to save the number by writing the full name while several others write only first name and there are few who save phone numbers by the nickname.

This Term Used By PM Narendra Modi Is Named Hindi Word Of The Year 2020 By Oxford

The year 2020 was a very challenging one for the whole world but there are always some positives to take even from a crisis and one of the positives of 2020 was the emphasis laid by the Indian government on Aatmanirbharta which means self-reliance. During his addresses on television, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about being vocal for the local which means supporting the local businesses which will help the country in becoming self-reliant.

Now the Oxford Languages has named this word “Aatmanirbharta” as the Hindi word of the year 2020 and the panel which selected this word included language experts – Kritika Agrawal, Poonam Nigam Sahay and Imogen Foxell.

A statement was issued by the Oxford Languages in which it talked about the times when PM Modi used this word and spoke about the importance of becoming self-reliant so that the country can face the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. The statement further said that after being used by the PM, there was a huge increase in the usage of this word and it gained a lot of importance in the public domain.

The biggest examples of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Campaign are the PPE Kits and vaccine for COVID-19. When the pandemic made its way in India, the country had to depend on the imports of PPE kits as it was not able to manufacture them but now India has not only attained sufficiency in regard to PPE kits but it has also become the second biggest exporter of PPE kits in the world. There was no vaccine for COVID-19 earlier but now India is not just vaccinating its citizens but also providing vaccine to many other countries and that too, free of cost.

Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, the managing director of Oxford University Press India, stated that the word Aatmanirbharta found a connect with many Indians as it worked as an answer to the difficulties which they faced due to the pandemic.

Kritika Agrawal said that Aatmanirbharta got selected because it gave voice to the courage shown by the old and the young who dealt with the problems like loss of job, isolation, no family support, etc. in the times of pandemic.

Ajinkya Rahane Discloses Rahul Dravid’s Golden Advice That Helped Him A Lot On Australia Tour

Ajinkya Rahane has become one of the favourite cricketers of many Indian cricket lovers after the Australian tour as it was under his leadership that India won the 4-match test series by 2-1. There is no denying the fact that the Aussies were quite strong in comparison to the Indian team as the skipper Virat Kohli returned to India after the first test match which India lost badly by 8 wickets. It was then that Ajinkya Rahane led the squad and the Indian side not only won the Melbourne and Brisbane test match but also saved the Sydney test match by ending it in a draw.

Recently, Ajinkya Rahane revealed the precious advice that he received from the legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid who is certainly the person responsible for decreasing the difference between the Ranji Trophy and team India. Rahul Dravid nurtured and trained the youngsters such as Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Mohammed Siraj, Hanuma Vihari, etc. and made sure that these youngsters got good international experience by playing for India A.

Ajinkya Rahane stated that before leaving for Australia from Dubai, he got a call from Rahul Dravid who advised him not to take any pressure of captaincy and also told him not to bat much in the net sessions.

While talking to Harsha Bhogle, Rahane said that while Dravid told him to be strong mentally and not to worry about anything as he would be leading the team after the first test match, what surprised him was the advice of not batting much in the nets as Rahul Dravid himself liked batting a lot.

As per him, Rahul Dravid said that he is well prepared and is batting well so he shouldn’t bat a lot in the nets and instead think how he would fulfill the role of captain and instill confidence in the team. Rahul also told Jinx not to worry about the result as well and Rahane accepted that Dravid’s advise was of great help to him.

Ajinkya Rahane led the team when the moods were really low after the humiliating defeat in the Adelaide test match in which India also score its lowest total of 36. Jinx also scored a century in the Melbourne test match which India won and leveled the series by 1-1.

The Top-4 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Applying For A Home Loan

We are witnessing home loan rates like never before. The Indian government and lenders operating in the country are going the extra mile to make home loans more attractive. All of these may prompt you to jump for a loan right away. However, if you want to get the most from your home loan, asking yourself the following questions will help you make an informed decision.

Question 1 – Am I Prepared For the Financial Commitment?

A home loan is a long-term financial liability. Borrowers usually opt for a repayment term between five years and thirty years. Hence, before applying for a home loan, you should evaluate your finances and decide the loan amount. While determining the amount, you also have to consider the interest rate. The higher the home loan interest, the more the EMIs. A home loan interest calculator can give you an accurate estimate of the loan amount and make loan selection simpler.

<

Question 2 – Can I Make a Higher Down Payment? What are its Benefits?

When you apply for a home loan, the lender approves an amount between 75% and 90% of the property value as the loan. To reduce the chances of default, they expect you to make a minimum 10% down payment. If you want to reduce the EMIs and get better interest rates, you should increase the downpayment amount by as much as you can afford. A higher downpayment amount assures the lender that the chances of defaulting are minimal, and hence, they do not mind giving you a discounted interest rate. You can use a home loan interest calculatorto calculate the loan costs.

Question 3 – Will I Have to Sacrifice Other Financial Goals?

As a home loan is a significant financial commitment, it may mean sacrificing other aspirations like weddings, education, a motor vehicle, etc. However, if you plan properly, you will never have to sacrifice other aspirations to fulfil your housing dreams. Lenders like PNB Housing offer ultra-low home loan interest rates and an extended loan term of up to thirty years. Hence, the EMIs will never seem like a burden. An intelligent way to handle home loanEMIs is by opening a non-cumulative fixed deposit account and choosing the monthly interest payout mode. As you get a fixed monthly income every month, you can use that amount to repay home loan EMIs.

Question 4 – Is My Lender the Best?

As a borrower, you may sometimes feel confused, as home loan advertisements may easily entice you to make a wrong decision. While the interest rate is a key determinant, you should also look at other factors like the lender’s reputation, loan terms, foreclosure and prepayment charges, and other value-added benefits. It is better to trust a lender with a legacy of more than twenty years, as they take their reputation quite seriously and may have bigger resources to offer you the best loan terms. PNB Housing, for instance, offers doorstep service to all home loan applicants. Hence, you will never need to waste a day when you need funds to fulfil the most precious dream of your life – purchasing a house.

Conclusion

The four questions mentioned in this article can make you a confident borrower. You should also read as many articles and blogs as possible to ensure you are making an informed decision. As a golden rule, it is better to ask questions in advance than to regret the decision later.
