The Indian cricket team has already lost the first ODI of the 3-match series and in the second match also, things don’t seem to go in favor of the Indian side. Till the time this article was written, India had lost both its openers on the score of 60 while chasing the mammoth target of 390. However, there is one more topic which is being discussed a lot nowadays and that is who should lead India in Virat Kohli’s absence – Rohit Sharma or Ajinkya Rahane?
Recently, the former Aussie cricketer Michael Clarke opened up on this issue while giving an interview to India Today and he was quite clear about his choice as he said that Rohit Sharma should lead the Indian squad if Virat Kohli is not in the team. According to him, he would have definitely picked Rohit Sharma for the Australian tour if he had known that Virat would return to India after the first test.
Clarke praises Hitman’s leadership skills and says that it is he who should be the skipper in Virat’s absence. He further adds that with one more IPL win, Rohit Sharma has shown that he knows how to lead a team and he is the one who should lead India in all formats if Virat Kohli is not playing. Clarke went on to the extent of saying that he would have done everything in order to make Rohit Sharma fit for the series, adding that he would have made Hitman bat at number 6.
Michael Clarke also talks about the vice-captain of the Indian test squad, Ajinkya Rahane who will be leading the team in the absence of Virat Kohli. Clarke says that he loves Rahane too and tactics-wise he is also a pretty good captain so it will be good for the Indian players if he leads them.
Virat Kohli will be leaving for India after the first test match which will start on Dec 17, as he wants to be with his wife Anushka Sharma at the time of the birth of their first baby. Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the first two test matches due to his injury and fitness and the decision on his chances of playing the remaining two test matches will be taken only after assessing his fitness on December 11.
There is no denying the fact that Rohit Sharma has proved himself as a skipper as he has lead his IPL team Mumbai Indians to five IPL wins in the last eight years. If we talk about the international tournaments, the Indian cricket team has won Nidahas trophy and Asia Cup in 2018 under Rohit’s leadership.
Who do you think should lead India – Ajinkya Rahane or Rohit Sharma?

The Indian movies are loved by not just Indians but also foreigners, especially some songs of the flicks are pretty famous outside the country as well. “Butta Bomma” is one such track which has a global fan base including the Australian cricketer David Warner who is also known for his entertaining TikTok videos.
“Butta Bomma” is from the Telugu movie “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” which stars Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. The film which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas was released in January 2020 and was a huge hit as it is said to have earned more than Rs. 250 crores while it was made in the budget of around Rs. 100 crores.
The song “Butta Bomma” became popular instantly after it was launched online. David Warner also made a video dancing on this song with his wife and his clip was loved by Indians as well. The Aussie cricketer was seen dancing once again but this time on the cricket field. He was doing the steps of “Butta Bomma” as the crowd was singing the song for cheering him up.
Though the recently concluded IPL 2020 was conducted within the closed stadiums with no crowd, the India-Australia series will see spectators cheering for their teams. However in the first two ODIs, the stadiums will be allowed to get 50 percent full while in the third ODI, the occupancy will be increased to 65 percent of the total capacity of the stadium.

The second ODI will be played on Sunday and while Aussies will like to win the match to seal the series, the visitors will like to attain victory in the match to keep their hopes of winning the series alive.

There is no denying the fact that the Australians will have the home advantage in the India-Australia series but the Indian cricket fans may have never expected that their star-studded Indian squad will get defeated so badly by the hosts in the first ODI of the 3-match series. The Aussies won the match by 66 runs and what hurt the Indians the most was that the Australian cricketers who played miserably in the IPL 2020 were back in form in the first ODI.
Now the Indian cricketers are already under the pressure of winning both the matches otherwise they will lose the series. What has made the matter worse is that the Indian team has been fined heavily for their slow over-rate. As per the rules, every team should bowl 300 legal deliveries (50 overs) in 210 minutes (3 hours and 30 minutes) but in the first ODI against Australia, the Indian team took total 246 minutes (4 hours and 6 minutes) for bowling 50 overs.
One point is also fined for each delayed over along with the fine but the good news is that it doesn’t affect the chances of India playing in the World Cup 2023. This is because the rules say that the host of the World Cup tournament will qualify automatically for the tournament and it is India which will be hosting the WC2023.
While this matter of India’s slow over-rate was taken up by a cricket lover on the micro-blogging site Twitter, the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer responded with cool style.
Wasim posted a meme with a very famous dialogue and captioned the photo with, “Being hosts we’ve already qualified for 2023 WC so in short”.
Here is the tweet:
Check out the response of Wasim Jaffer:
As far as the match is concerned, the hosts scored 374 runs in the stipulated 50 overs with the help of some brilliant knocks by David Warner (69), skipper Aaron Finch (114), Steve Smith (105) and Glenn Maxwell (45). Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers for India as he took 3 wickets and gave away only 59 runs.
In reply to Aussies, the Indian team was able to manage only 308 runs on the board and the highest scorer for India was Hardik Pandya (90 runs). Shikhar Dhawan also tried his best but he got out at 74 runs. Steve Smith was adjudged as the player of the match for his smashing knock of 105 for which he played only 66 deliveries. The second match of the series is scheduled on Sunday (Nov 29) and the Indian cricket fans must be hoping to see their team win the match.

The Indian cricket team is on its first international tour after the coronavirus lockdown; presently it is in Australia for playing 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 4 test matches. The first ODI of the series has already been won by the hosts as they defeated India comfortably by 66 runs in Sydney. The Australian team batted first after winning the toss and gave a huge target of 375 runs. Australian skipper Aaron Finch along with Steve Smith scored centuries while Glenn Maxwell scored a quick 45 for which he played only 19 balls.
What surprised everyone, especially the Indian cricket fans, was the fact that all these three Aussie cricketers performed miserably in the recently concluded IPL 2020 but they performed in an impeccable manner against India. Soon the Indian Twitterati started posting memes and jokes and talked about how the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Indian cricketer KL Rahul must have been feeling after seeing their IPL teammates smashing the Indian bowlers.
Aaron Finch is a member of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore which is led by Virat Kohli and in the IPL 2020, Finch scored only 268 runs in the 12 matches that he played. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell played for Kings XI Punjab led by KL Rahul and in the 13 matches that Maxwell played, he scored only 108 runs.
These memes were noticed by Jimmy Neesham, the New Zealand cricketer who is presently a part of the Kiwi squad which is playing T20I series against West Indies. He also played for KXIP and was also a huge disappointment for the franchise as he took 2 wickets and scored only 19 runs in the 5 matches that he played. However while playing against West Indies for his national team, Jimmy went on to score 48 runs for which he played only 24 balls and helped his team in chasing the target of 176 comfortably as 4.4 overs were remaining when New Zealand won the match.
Jimmy has a quite good sense of humour and he reacted to a meme in which KL Rahul’s face was morphed on the photo of a disappointed Pakistani fan. With the meme, the Twitter user wanted to show KL Rahul’s reaction after Neesham and Maxwell performed well for their respective home teams.
Jimmy retweeted the meme with the caption, “Hahaha that’s actually pretty good” with a laughing emoji and he also tagged the Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell.
Glenn Maxwell also responded soon and informed that he apologized to his IPL skipper while he was batting in the match. Maxwell tweeted, “I apologised to him while I was batting”.

The Indian cricket team is certainly missing its star batsman Rohit Sharma on the Australian tour, especially after getting crushed by the Australians in the first ODI by 66 runs. Recently, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli talked about the lack of clarity on the matter of Rohit Sharma’s fitness and after that, BCCI cleared the air by giving a statement.
Let us tell you about the whole issue in brief – Rohit Sharma suffered hamstring injury during one of the matches in the IPL, hence he was rested and not included in the squad for the remaining matches. In the meantime, BCCI released the list of players for the Australian tour and Rohit’s name was missing from it. The Indian cricket fans were quite angry with BCCI for being too harsh on Rohit, though the Indian board stated that they were monitoring the fitness of Rohit Sharma and the Indian pacer Ishant Sharma.
Nevertheless, everyone got confused when the official Twitter handle of Mumbai Indians which is led by Rohit Sharma posted his photos from the net sessions. People were surprised as to why Rohit was practicing in nets if he was not fine, some even questioned Rohit’s presence in UAE if he was unfit and also asked why he was not returning to India. However, things turned more confusing when Rohit Sharma played the finals of the IPL 2020 for his team and after that, he returned to India. During all this time, BCCI or Mumbai Indians said nothing about Rohit Sharma’s fitness.
Presently, Rohit Sharma is undergoing rehabilitation in National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, and this was one of the points raised by Virat Kohli as he put up the question why Rohit Sharma can’t undergo rehabilitation in Australia just like Wriddhiman Saha.
After Virat’s statement, BCCI has decided to clear the air by issuing a statement in which Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, states that Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai after the IPL 2020 because his father was not doing fine but now he is in NCA as his father is recovering well. He further adds that Rohit Sharma’s fitness will be assessed on December 11 and after that only, it will be ascertained whether he will go to Australia for the test series or not. It has been said that if Rohit Sharma will leave for Australia, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will make a request to his Australian counterpart Nick Hockley for allowing soft quarantine to Rohit Sharma so that Hitman can at least indulge in practice sessions during the 14 day quarantine.
As far as Ishant Sharma is concerned, he has recovered well from his side strain injury but is not completely fit for playing in the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
The confusion over Rohit Sharma’s fitness was a result of mismanagement by cricket operations team of BCCI but it is good that the confusion has been cleared now.

The Australians started the India-Australia 3-match ODI series with a bang by defeating the visitors by a huge difference of 66 runs. The match was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the hosts posted a mammoth total of 374 runs after winning the toss. The major contributions were made by the Australian skipper Aaron Finch who scored 114 and Steve Smith who played a smashing knock of 105 runs for which he played only 66 deliveries. David Warner also contributed well as he scored 69 runs whereas Glenn Maxwell produced a quick knock of 45 runs for which he faced only 19 balls.
In response, the Indian team was bundled out for 308 runs, the highest scorer for India was Hardik Pandya who made 90 runs and other than him, it was only Shikhar Dhawan who could show some resistance against Australian bowlers as Gabbar scored 74 runs. However, what was noticed by the Indian cricket lovers was the fact that all three Aussies who fired against India – Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell failed miserably in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2020.
Aaron Finch, the Aussie skipper who scored a ton in the first ODI played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2020 and performed below expectations with a total score of 268 runs in 12 matches. Glenn Maxwell’s IPL 2020 campaign was a huge disappointment for Kings XI Punjab IPL franchise as he scored only 108 runs in 13 matches and it must have been very hard for KL Rahul, the skipper of KXIP as he was keeping the wickets when Glenn was hammering the Indian bowlers in front of him.
Even KXIP’s official Twitter handle trolled Glenn Maxwell:
Steve Smith, another Aussie, was a big failure not just as a batsman but as a skipper for Rajasthan Royals as he scored only 311 runs and the Rajasthan franchise ended at the bottom of the points tally in the tournament. The official Twitter handle of Rajasthan Royals also took a jibe at Steve Smith with this meme:
Not just the Indian cricket fans but the former cricketers and commentators also took to Twitter to express their disbelief after seeing these Aussie cricketers performing great against India.
