Mumbai Indians is certainly playing like the champions as they are on the top of the points table with 8 points (4 wins, 2 losses). The last match that they played was against Rajasthan Royals and the player of the match was Suryakumar Yadav who played a spectacular innings of 79 runs not out for which he played only 47 balls.
However, the match will also be remembered for the expressions that Krunal Pandya gave when he was sent to bat. Krunal who scored 12 runs hasn’t got much chance to bat in the earlier matches and in yesterday’s match, he was sent up the order even before his brother Hardik Pandya to bat for MI.
But while batting, Krunal Pandya gave such expressions as if he was bored and this gave enough fodder to the meme artists. As a result, the micro-blogging site Twitter was flooded with jokes and hilarious reactions and here are some of the selected ones:

Talking about the match, MI won the toss and decided to bat. The most successful IPL team posted a huge total of 193 runs with the help of Suryakumar Yadav’s splendid innings who was well supported by the skipper Rohit Sharma (35). Rajasthan Royals batting lineup disappointed its fans big time as no batsman other than Jos Buttler (70) and Jofra Archer (24) was able to show resistance against the MI bowlers and the whole team got out for just 136 runs with 11 balls remaining to bowl.
This is the third straight loss of RR and they need to pull up their socks if they want to make their way in the play-offs. Presently, RR is on the seventh position with 4 points (2 wins, 3 losses) despite the fact that they started their tournament with a bang by defeating CSK in a high scoring match.
By the way, what do you think about the expression given by Krunal Pandya while batting? Truly a meme material, isn’t it?

The IPL 2020 is being played with a lot of precautions as the world is fighting against the coronavirus pandemic and recently Virat Kohli, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, almost committed a big mistake which was a violation of COVID-19 protocols.
In the match between RCB and DC, the DC batsman Prithvi Shaw played a shot towards the covers on the bowling of Navdeep Saini which was the third over of DC’s innings but Virat Kohli exhibited great athleticism and fielded the ball. However after that, he wasn’t able to control himself and cleaned the ball and was about to rub his saliva on it but then suddenly he realized that it’s prohibited, he removed his hand from the ball and made a gesture implying sorry.

The reaction of Virat Kohli was loved by many and one of them was the legendary former cricketer of India, Sachin Tendulkar. Little Master took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and called Virat’s reaction a million dollar one.
Here is what Sachin’s tweet read, “What an incredible shot by @PrithviShaw there! A million dollar reaction by @imVkohli after almost applying saliva on the ball. Sometimes instincts takeover! RCBvDC #IPL2020”
Usually, the cricketers are habitual of rubbing their saliva on the ball in order to make it shine but as per the new rules, use of saliva is banned because it may result in the spread of lethal coronavirus. In the present conditions, if Virat had rubbed saliva on the ball, he would have got a warning for sure and if such acts are repeated even after a warning to the team, it could have led to 5-run penalty.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the authority to the umpires to deal with such situation. Leniency is being observed as of now because it will certainly take time for the players to get habituated with the new rules.
We hope you are also following all the safety guidelines needed to keep you and your family safe!

Ravichandran Ashwin created a storm last time when he mankaded the Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler in an IPL match in 2019 and yesterday he surprised everyone by leaving Aaron Finch with just a warning rather than mankading him.
Ashwin is now a part of Delhi Capitals and yesterday in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore when he was bowling, the RCB batsman Aaron Finch came out of the crease by a couple of yards. Ashwin had ample time to remove the bails but he chose to give Aaron Finch a warning only.
The cameraman was swift enough to shift his focus on the head coach of Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting who was found smiling on Ashwin’s act.
Here is how Ricky Ponting reacted:
Before the start of the IPL 2020, Ricky Ponting made it clear that he won’t allow his players to go for mankading and he will surely chat with Ashwin about this. They both also had an interaction in a YouTube video which was titled as Oru Mellisaana Kodu (Thin Line) and in the clip, R Ashwin asked Ponting to give his take on the matter as the former stated that he himself is a serial run-out at non-striker end person.
Ricky Ponting agreed to the fact that what Ashwin did was right since it was as per the laws but he was in favor of imposing a run penalty rather than getting the batsman run-out. Ponting said that if the batsman standing at non-striker end is leaving the crease even before the bowler throws the ball, he is indulging in an act of cheating and he should be punished.
What is your take on this matter? Do you feel that run-penalty is a better option than run-out or are you in favor of run-out? Let us know your views.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spinner who is a part of Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 is once again all over social media and this time for not mankading a batsman.
If you remember, Ashwin was the skipper of Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2019 and in a match which was against Rajasthan Royals, he mankaded RR batsman Jos Buttler. A huge controversy erupted after this incident as many felt that he went against the spirit of the game while there were some who thought that whatever Ashwin did was correct. R Ashwin made it clear to everyone that he played within the laws of the game and he would do it again if he gets a chance in the future.
Before the start of the IPL 2020, Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals and now he is playing under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Just before the start of the tournament, the head coach of DC, Ricky Ponting made it clear that he would not allow his boys to do mankading and he would surely have a conversation with Ashwin about it.
Recently in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Ashwin got the chance of mankading RCB batsman Aaron Finch but he chose to issue him a warning and leave rather than hitting the ball on the stumps.
Ashwin also took to Twitter and stated that it is the first and final warning and he won’t be leaving anyone after that.
Here is the tweet in which he also tagged Ricky Ponting:
Soon, the Indian Twitterati started expressing themselves in the form of memes and jokes and many felt that eventually Ashwin did what Ricky wanted. Check out some of the selected reactions:

Talking about the match, DC proved to be far better that RCB in the game. Batting first, the Delhi team posted a good total of 196 runs on the board with the help of a half-century of Marcus Stoinis. In reply, RCB was able to score only 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and DC won the match by 59 runs.
Presently, DC is on the top of the table with 4 wins out of the 5 matches played by them and KXIP is at the bottom with 4 losses out of the 5 matches they have played.

Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore is on a roll with three wins out of four matches played by them till now. Presently, RCB is on the second spot with 6 points in the points table after Delhi Capitals which also has the same points but is ahead in terms of run rate.
The last match RCB played was against Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi which the former won easily by 8 wickets. The lethal bowling attack of Bangalore was too good for RR which was 31/3 at one moment but managed to put up a decent total of 154 runs on the board with the help of Mahipal Lomror’s resilient innings of 47 runs for which he played 39 deliveries.
The RCB batsmen were in the attacking mode from the very beginning and one good thing that happened for RCB from this match was that Virat Kohli came back in form. While Devdutt Padikkal played a good knock of 63 (45), the skipper remained not out with 72 for which he played 53 balls. RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was adjudged Player of the Match for his wonderful bowling; he took 3 wickets in his 4 overs spell and gave only 24 runs.
However, RCB proved itself better than RR not only on the field but on Twitter as well. It so happened that before the match, RR tweeted that they have 100 percent record of winning in Abu Dhabi.
Check out the tweet:
Interestingly after the match, RCB responded with a photo of Virat Kohli and wrote “Anybody home? Helloooooo…!”
Here is the tweet:
RCB has been the target of trollers for many years now as they seem to be one of the strongest teams in the IPL but they have never been able to win the trophy. Even Virat Kohli has faced the heat of his fans and followers on various occasions for the dismal performance of his team in the tournament but this time, RCB seems to be a completely different team from the team which we have been seeing in the last three seasons.

Chennai Super Kings may have been the second most successful team of the IPL as it has won the trophy three times but this year nothing seems to be going right in their favor. Earlier they had to remain in quarantine for a period of 14 days because 13 members of their group including two cricketers tested positive for COVID-19 and then their star players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons.
Though they started the league with a win against the defending champions Mumbai Indians, they ended up as losers in the next three matches that they played in the tournament so far. What is making things worse for them is that the skipper MS Dhoni is struggling in terms of fitness.
In their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, CSK had to chase the target of 165 but their top 4 batsmen were back in dugout in the first 10 overs only. Now the complete responsibility of winning the match was on MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja and both of them tried their level best but still they lost the match by 7 runs. Jadeja scored 50 before getting out while Dhoni remained not out on 47 but what was worrisome for CSK was that Dhoni was finding it difficult to run fast between the wickets. In fact, he was having difficulty in breathing and the support staff had to come on the field to help him.
Dhoni was already getting slammed for some of his decisions in the last few matches and now his fitness is also under everybody’s radar.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took a jibe at MS Dhoni by making a cryptic tweet as he wrote, “Age is just a number for some and for others a reason to be dropped…”
Pathan was dropped from the team when he was just 27 years old and after that, he was never able to make a comeback in the Indian team. On the other hand, Dhoni is 39 years of age and was part of the team in the ICC World Cup 2019.
Soon Irfan Pathan got the support of his former teammate Harbhajan Singh who shared his tweet with the caption, “10000000 percent agree with you. @IrfanPathan”
Here is the tweet:
The Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is also out of the Indian squad for five years and his return in the team is impossible now as the age is not on his side and also because Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and others are performing quite well.
Getting dropped from the team is certainly painful, what do you say?

The IPL team Kings XI Punjab is going through a rough phase as they have lost 3 out of 4 matches which they have played and a couple of them were pretty close ones. The last match that they lost was against Mumbai Indians and after this, many cricket experts slammed the management for their team selection and strategy.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra who is a very popular commentator now was also very critical of KXIP and questioned the decision of playing the Kiwi player Jimmy Neesham as Chopra feels that Jimmy is not a match winner. In the match against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, the Kiwi all-rounder gave 52 runs in his 4 overs and he also disappointed with bat as he was out for just 7 when his team needed to chase the target of 192 runs.
Now, James Neesham has responded to the comment made by Aakash Chopra and he took to Twitter to make fun of the latter’s statistics in T20I cricket.
Aakash Chopra has not played much T20I as he represented the country only in 21 T20Is in which he scored merely 334 runs, his average was 18.55 and his strike rate was 91.25. If we talk about his IPL career, he has scored only 53 runs in 6 matches with an average of 8.8 while his strike rate was 74.6.
Jimmy tweeted, “Averaging 18.5 striking at 90 doesn’t win many matches either” with laughing emojis.
He tweeted this when a Twitter user asked him to respond on the statement given by Aakash Chopra. Here is the tweet:
Aakash Chopra responds soon and accepts that he is not picked anymore due to his bad T20 record. But he adds that now he is paid for something else and at the same time, he took a funny jibe at Jimmy. Aakash says that he is happy Jimmy has no problem with the observations that he has made but with his stats.
Here is what Aakash tweeted: “Correct my friend. That’s why nobody picks me anymore. I get paid for doing something else I’m glad that you don’t have an issue with my observations but with my cricket stats. Go well for the rest of the #IPL.”
Jimmy Neesham and Aakash Chopra both are known for their sense of humour and wittiness and it will be interesting to see how Jimmy reacts after this response from Aakash.
