The Instagram live chat sessions have become quite famous among the cricketers as the players get a medium to have a chat with those fellow cricketers or friends with whom they shared a part of their lives but nowadays they are not able to talk much.

Former cricketer Irfan Pathan recently got engaged in an Instagram live session with the Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and they both shared their views on many issues. They also made a request to the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding giving permission to the non-contracted players to play in minimum 2 foreign leagues so that it can help them in making a comeback in the Indian side.

If any Indian cricketer wants to play in a foreign league, he has to take permission from BCCI but till now, the board has not allowed even a single player to take part in any of these overseas tournaments until they are playing cricket at international level.

A BCCI official has given a clarification in regard to what Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan has said and why BCCI doesn’t allow players to take part in foreign leagues. He says that BCCI has been doing this in order to protect the reputation of these non-contracted players which they have made while playing for the country so that they can command high value in the Indian Premier League. However, the official added that it is not wrong for some players to think on these lines when they are close to their retirement and chances of comeback are bleak.

Suresh Raina was supposed to play from Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020 which was slated to start from March 29 but has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. The chances of the IPL taking place this year also seem to be pretty low especially because of the fact that the T20 World Cup is also scheduled later this year and it is going to be held in Australia. However, some reports suggest that BCCI is looking forward to organise the IPL 2020 in September before the T20 World Cup.

The Indian Premier League 2020 may have been postponed indefinitely but the tournament still offers a lot of content to talk and discuss. Recently, the New Zealand cricketer Mitchell Santner who was at the crease batting for CSK at that time opened up about the incident and said that he was also very surprised just like everyone to see Mahi on the field because he is a very cool and calm person. Mitchell further added that it was certainly Dhoni’s commitment to his team that made him walk to the ground as how an umpire could overturn his decision. The Indian cricket team was at number one in the ICC test rankings since 2016 and now after remaining at the top for 42 weeks, it is now standing at number 3 with Australia at the top spot and New Zealand at the second position.

What confused the Indian cricket fans and experts was the fact that the Indian team has not performed so bad that it slipped to the 3^rd spot and a clarification was released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in this regard.

ICC states that the Indian team’s records of the 2016-17 session have not been included in the present cycle. That was a very successful phase of team India as in that duration, the team tasted victory in 12 test matches and lost only one.

Recently, the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also expressed his annoyance over the shift in rankings of the Indian squad. While talking to a sports channel, he says that he is surprised with the change in rankings as he doesn’t believe in any ranking system. Gautam Gambhir who has now entered politics is also pretty upset with the World Test Championship as he finds it ridiculous that a team gets the same points even if it wins a test overseas.

Gauti is also of the opinion that it was team India which made the most impact in the cricket world.
