Nowadays, many cricketers are indulging in Instagram live chat sessions as it not only helps them in passing time during the lockdown period but they also provide some entertainment to cricket fans who are already very disappointed after the indefinite postponement of Indian Premier League 2020.
Recently Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan Singh chatted live and they talked on many topics including the coronavirus pandemic, issues related to cricket and many more. Rohit Sharma also asked the Indian spinner about the differences and similarities between the present cricket team and the Indian team of past.
In Harbhajan Singh’s opinion, the present team which is being led by Virat Kohli is over-dependent on their skipper and Rohit Sharma. According to Bhajji, the cricketers are good but they don’t have confidence, self-belief and trust in themselves. In order to justify his statement, he also says that almost 70 percent of the matches have been lost by India if the top three batsmen are not able to make big scores or Virat and Rohit had got out early.
Talking about the teams which played under Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni, Harbhajan said that the players were confident and even if the top three failed, players such as Yuvraj Singh and others came to the rescue of the team and helped in winning matches.
Bhajji also talked about the ICC World Cup 2019 campaign of the Indian team and told Rohit that he had a pretty good tournament as he scored five hundreds but they still lost in the semi-finals against New Zealand. According to the Turbanator, the Indian team would have won the World Cup if there had been 3-4 more performers or match winners in the team.
Recently, Harbhajan Singh also said that there should be no cricket tournament in India until the vaccine for coronavirus is developed. Presently, more than 700 people have lost their lives in the country and around 23K people have been found infected with it. If we talk about the situation worldwide, the number of lives lost is more than 1.90 lakh while around 27 lakh people are found infected with it.

The cricket lovers are quite disappointed after the announcement of Indian Premier League 2020 getting postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak. Earlier IPL 2020 was slated to start from March 29 but then it was postponed till April 15 and now it has further been postponed indefinitely as the Indian government extended the lockdown till May 3. Recently, the President of Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly made it clear that no cricket event is going to take place in the near future in India.
The IPL franchises are conducting live Instagram sessions of their players in order to entertain their fans since everybody is locked inside the house because it is the best way to remain safe from coronavirus. Lately, the skipper of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), David Warner and opener Jonny Bairstow carried out a live chat on the official handle of SRH. The duo talked about many things and David Warner also took a jibe at the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
When David Warner was asked about the difference between his team SRH and other IPL teams, he said that his team had won an IPL trophy while Bangalore did not won any. He then laughed a little and said that he hoped Virat Kohli was also watching it.
David Warner and Virat Kohli are on pretty good terms and they mostly make comments on each other’s social media handles but now it will be interesting to know how the RCB skipper will react to David Warner’s mocking comment. Co-incidentally in 2016 when SRH won the IPL trophy, it defeated RCB in the finals. RCB has always been termed as one of the strongest team of the tournament but it has never won any season since its inauguration.
When David Warner was asked whether there is something which nobody knows about him, he said in a funny manner that he is going to try his luck in Bollywood but certainly not as a dancer.
While David Warner has been playing for SRH since 2014, Jonny Bairstow started playing for the IPL team from the last season only.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) may have become one of the biggest sporting events in the present times but in 2008 when it started, not every cricketer wanted to be a part of it. The English cricketers were not much interested in playing in IPL; however in 2009, English cricketers Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen were bought for whopping amount of Rs 7.5 crores each.
KP was appointed as the skipper of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and though he didn’t play for the full season, he still laid the platform which helped RCB in reaching the finals.
Recently, the former English skipper Michael Vaughan revealed that many English cricketers were jealous after Kevin Pietersen got a huge IPL contract. Vaughan said that though those players would not accept it, they were quite jealous of Kevin at that time. He further added that Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann and James Anderson stood against KP as they were not in the favour of playing IPL.
Vaughan said that Kevin Pietersen wanted to play in IPL in order to improve the white-ball game. He also discussed it with other players and tried to make them understand that it would be of a great help in making the team strong. However, the other players felt that KP was going just for money. Vaughan also pointed out that while KP got a huge contract, it was not the case with the other English players.
It was until 2015 that English players avoided playing in IPL but when Andrew Strauss became the director of ECB, he encouraged the players to take part in IPL. Taking part in IPL has certainly improved the standard of the English cricketers as they not only won the World Cup but also got ranked as No.1 ODI team.
Things are pretty different today as every cricketer of the world wants to play in IPL now. Agree?

The cash-rich league Indian Premier League has been postponed indefinitely and the chances of it taking place this year also seem bleak. Now the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has made it clear that no cricket event is going to take place in the near future in India.
When the former Indian skipper was asked a question by TOI in regard to Germany thinking of starting its football tournament Bundesliga in May, he said that there is a huge difference in the social reality of both the nations and he doesn’t believe in sport if it may be risky for human lives.
Another Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh also supports the opinion of Sourav Ganguly and the former feels that the top-flight cricket should be started in India only after the vaccine for COVID-19 comes into market.
Bhajji says that during IPL when the teams travel, airports are pretty crowded, there is a huge crowd outside hotel and stadiums and it will be difficult to manage such crowd, especially when social distancing is the need of the hour.
The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has earlier stated that India and Australia should think about exchanging the World Cup hosting rights. T20 World Cup 2020 is scheduled to be held in Australia later this year while T20 World Cup 2021 is going to take place in India.
The Little Master feels that organizing IPL or T20 World Cup in empty stadiums is also going to be pretty tough as there is huge crowd even during the practice sessions. He says that it won’t be easy to control the Indian crowd and as far as the monetary losses are concerned, we have to bear with it.
The coronavirus outbreak has led to the cancellation of all the sports events all over the world. The lethal virus has already taken lives of more than 1.80 lakh people while the number of infected cases has crossed the 26 lakh mark. In such a scenario when the whole world is fighting a contagious disease, we just can’t afford to risk human lives.
Stay at home and stay safe!
