Steve Smith Opens Up On His Unique Batting Stance & How It Helps Him In Saving Wicket

The Australian cricketer Steve Smith is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of the world and the cricketer was supposed to lead the IPL team Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the thirteenth season of the league. However, IPL 2020 which was supposed to start on March 29 has been postponed till April 15 and the chances of the tournament taking place even after April 15 seem bleak now.

IPL may have been delayed but RR came up with a way to cheer up their fans amidst the lockdown by carrying out a podcast of its social media pages in which Ish Sodhi, the cricketer from New Zealand, interviewed the Aussie star cricketer Steve Smith.

Steve has talked about a lot of things including his batting stance which keeps on changing depending on different factors. Steve Smith says that his batting stance depends on the pitch’s behaviour, who the bowler is, how he wants to bat at that moment and how the bowler is trying to get him out.

Steve Smith also talks about his general stance and how it helps him in saving his wicket. He says that when his back foot is almost near the off-stump or even outside that, it ensures him that any delivery which doesn’t come in his eye-line is definitely not going to hit the stumps. He further says that a batsman should not lose his wicket if the ball is not hitting the stumps. He accepts that there are times when he gets stuck in front of the wicket but he is fine with it as he gets to know that he can leave anything which is out of his eye-line.

Steve is one of those batsmen whom the bowlers find it pretty hard to get out and his batting stance confuses the bowlers a lot in regard to where they should bowl him. Steve Smith was banned from cricket for one year after he was found involved in the ball tampering incident in South Africa and he was also banned from becoming the captain of the team for two years. However now as the ban has been lifted, there is probability of Steve Smith once again leading the side.

There is no denying the fact that both Tim Paine and Aaron Finch have performed well but as the former may be retiring soon and the latter is also doubted to play after 2023, Steve Smith has pretty good chance of becoming the skipper. However, Tim Paine feels that Steve is not the only suitable candidate for the captaincy as Travis Head, Alex Carey, Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins may also claim the candidature.

Well, such conversations among the players are definitely a source of delight for their fans.

Mukesh Khanna Takes A Satirical Jibe At Ekta Kapoor For Her So-Called Modern Mahabharata

The Indian government imposed 21 days lockdown starting March 25 due to the surge in the number of coronavirus patients in the country and as everyone was bound to sit at home, many people demanded that the government should re-telecast the old popular TV serials, such as Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Indian government decided to re-telecast not only Ramayana and Mahabharata but many other famous shows such as Dekh Bhai Dekh, Byomkesh Bakshi, The Jungle Book and the superhero serial Shaktimaan as well.

The main character of superhero Shaktimaan was played by actor Mukesh Khanna who was also the producer of the show. Mukesh Khanna has worked in some other serials and movies but he became a household name after he portrayed the character of Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharata.

Recently, Mukesh Khanna gave an interview to a leading daily in which he revealed that he was already planning a new version of Shaktimaan and if the coronavirus outbreak did not happen, he must have made the announcement regarding the same. He also said that the return of Shaktimaan which was aired on television from 1997 to 2005 is no less than a miracle.

When Mukesh Khanna was asked about the new version of Shaktimaan, the actor didn’t disclose his idea of the plot but he took a jibe at Ekta Kapoor and said that his new version would certainly not be like Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharata. He further said that he just can’t let anyone destroy the spirit of Shaktimaan in the manner in which Ekta Kapoor ruined Mahabharata. As per him, Ekta said that she was making Mahabharata for modern people as her Draupadi had a tattoo on her body but she didn’t understand that culture (sanskriti) can’t be modernized and if one tries to modernize it, it will lose its essence.

He was also not happy with the way in which Devavrat’s Bhishma Pratigya was shown in Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharata along with many other things. Mukesh Khanna was so upset with Ekta and her team as he said that they thought themselves to be smarter than Vyas Muni who wrote Mahabharata.

Earlier, Mukesh Khanna was in news for targeting actress Sonakshi Sinha as he said that the re-telecast of Ramayana will be helpful for those who have no knowledge of their mythology just like Sonakshi Sinha. However when another Mahabharata actor Nitish Bharadwaj objected to it, Mukesh Khanna clarified that he was not targeting Sonakshi Sinha in particular and he didn’t even know but he is definitely speaking about those people who don’t even want to know about their culture and heritage. Mukesh Khanna also said that Ramayana and Mahabharata are not just mythological epics, they are our history. He also told that he was in talk with many big production houses for the new version of Shaktimaan but nothing got finalized yet.

Do you agree with Mukesh Khanna in regard to Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharata?

Waqar Younis Disagrees With Wasim Akram’s Take On Kohli, Says He Made A Name By Bowling To Legends

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of the world cricket. In fact, some of the former cricketers and Virat’s fans consider him as the Greatest Of All Times (G.O.A.T.). Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram is also an admirer of Virat Kohli and recently he made a statement as per which the Indian right-handed batsman would have made lives of many best bowlers difficult if he had played in the past.

While some agreed with Wasim Akram, his teammate and former Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis had a different opinion as he said that he made his name bowling to some of the legends of the game.

Waqar Younis who is presently serving as the bowling coach of the Pakistani team has represented Pakistan in 87 tests and 262 ODIs. He has taken 373 wickets in tests and 416 in the shorter format. He troubled the world’s best batsmen with his reverse swing, Yorkers, etc. at high speed and his fans also used to call him as Burewala Express and The Toe Crusher.

According to Waqar Younis, he doesn’t agree with Wasim Akram as it is incorrect to say that the bowlers of the past never faced a batsman who was equally talented as Virat Kohli. He further added that he bowled to some of the greatest batsmen of cricket, such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Viv Richards and many more. He also said that he had the capability of getting any batsman out during his cricketing days and it would not have changed even today if he had been playing.

Presently, all the sporting events have been either cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak which has taken lives of more than 74K people while over 13 lakh persons are infected with it. If we talk about Pakistan, the number of lives lost is 54 and more than 3,000 people have been found infected with the virus while in India, 4789 people are found infected with the lethal virus which has taken lives of 142 individuals in the country.

Whether you agree with Wasim Akram or Waqar Younis, make sure that you stay indoors to stay safe!

Aussie Cricketers Were Afraid Of Sledging Virat Kohli To Save IPL Contracts, Reveals Michael Clarke

Almost every cricketer of the world dreams to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as it is certainly a great platform to gain experience and it is quite lucrative in monetary terms as well. Many Australian players have also played in the league and some of them have even served as the captain of the IPL teams. However Michael Clarke, the former Australian cricketer, feels that because of IPL, the Australian cricketers have become softer or less aggressive towards the Indian players.

The former Australian skipper said that everybody is aware of the power of India in terms of finance whether it is at international level or domestic. The 39 years old cricketer feels that the cricketers of Australia and other teams as well went soft against Indians as they didn’t want to lose on their IPL contracts. As per him, the Aussies and other players are afraid of sledging Indian cricketers, especially Virat Kohli as they have to play along with them in April.

Michael Clarke further adds that many players want to play in IPL and they don’t sledge Virat as they want to get a good IPL contract. While speaking a chat show, Michael said that there was a time when Australian cricketers went very soft against Virat and other cricketers as they wanted to get selected for Bangalore so that they could earn $1 million in just six weeks. Clarke further added that this was the phase when Australian cricketers were not as aggressive as they used to be.

IPL 2020 was supposed to start from March 29 but it has been postponed till April 15 after there was considerable increase in the number of coronavirus patients in India as well as in the world. Taking a look at the present scenario, it won’t be wrong to say that there are strong chances of the tournament getting cancelled or postponed further.

Do you agree with what Michael Clarke said?

Harbhajan Talks About Playing IPL Without Crowd & Behind Closed Doors

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the biggest sporting events of the world and cricket lovers are quite disappointed now as the thirteenth season of the league has been postponed till April 15. IPL 2020 was supposed to start on March 29 but as the number of coronavirus patients started increasing, the decision of postponing IPL was taken.

However if we take a look at the present condition, the chances of IPL taking place this year are pretty low but there is news that BCCI may organize the tournament in the second half of the year on the expense of any bilateral series or international tournament. Things will get clear once BCCI will make a statement in this regard.

Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh who is a member of the IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has opened up on this matter and he seems to ready to play IPL in the empty stadiums. Bhajji was speaking on a TV show of a sports channel and he said that there is no doubt spectators are necessary but he is also ready to play without them. The Indian spinner further said that he will certainly miss the environment but at least cricket fans will be able to watch IPL on their televisions.

He was also very much concerned with the safety of players as he said that the safety of players should be priority and it should be ensured that the hotels, flights, venues, etc. are properly sanitized. Nevertheless at one fell swoop, he also added that IPL should be organized only if things are completely okay as many lives will be on stake. Harbhajan said that he is missing matches, visit to stadiums, fans and so on, adding that he wanted to play all the 17 matches including the final.

The opening match of IPL 2020 was supposed to be played between MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings and Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI). Last IPL was won by MI after they defeated CSK in the finals. MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, was also supposed to make a comeback on the cricket field with IPL 2020 as he has not played since the World Cup 2019.

Let’s just wait for BCCI to make an official announcement regarding IPL, till then please stay at home and practice social distancing to stay safe.

Jaydev Compares Cutting Beans With Pujara’s Ranji Final Innings, Gets A Hilarious Reply From Him

The Indian cricketers are presently sitting inside their houses as the coronavirus outbreak has compelled each one of us to remain indoors to save ourselves from getting infected. While some players are getting active on social media networks and interacting with their fans or colleagues, several others are letting their fans know how they are spending time in the 21 days lockdown period.

Indian cricketer Jaydev Unadkat under whose captaincy the Saurashtra team won the Ranji Trophy recently took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and posted a photo in which he showed the vegetables that he chopped. He also wrote heartwarming message for his mother as she has done such things infinite times but never showed off.

Jaydev Unadkat’s tweet read, “By, Yours truly.. To, The Mother.. (who does it infinite times without any such show-off & appreciation)  #QuarantineLife”

In another tweet, he talked about cutting the beans which required a lot of patience just the like the innings played by Cheteshwar Pujara in the finals of the Ranji Trophy.

He tweeted, “Also, I must add cutting the cluster beans did require a lot of patience..😂 @cheteshwar1 Your Ranji final innings gave me a fresh shot of patience when I was about to give up! 😉

In the finals of the Ranji Trophy, Cheteshwar Pujara scored 66 runs for which he played 237 balls and his strike rate was 27.85. Pujara is known for taking time in scoring runs but there is no denying the fact that he has played many important innings at both national and international levels as well.

The Indian cricketer and Jaydev’s Saurashtra teammate Cheteshwar Pujara also responded quickly with a funny tweet, saying that he thought Jaydev would have been preparing for life after marriage.

Cheteshwar Pujara tweeted, “Ohhh I thought you were prepping for life after marriage”.

Jaydev Unadkat got married last month only so this tweet by Cheteshwar Pujara was quite bang on.

How are you spending your quarantine?
