Kohli Reveals The Story Behind His Nickname “Cheeku” & How Dhoni Made It Popular

The cricketers don’t have the option of working from home so most of the cricketers are getting pretty active on social media networks nowadays as majority of the nations of the world are under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kevin Pietersen, the former England cricket player, is carrying out Instagram live sessions with various cricketers such as Dale Steyn, Ahmed Shehzad, Rohit Sharma ,etc. Recently, Kevin went live with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and they talked on lot of topics including IPL 2020, Virat’s stint as a captain and also how Virat’s nickname Cheeku got famous.

Virat disclosed that it all happened because former skipper MS Dhoni started addressing him with this name on the field and it was heard by everyone because of the stump’s mic. He also talked about the time when his coach in the Ranji Trophy started calling him Cheeku.

Virat got this nickname in 2007 when he thought that he is losing hair so he got his hair cut short because of which his ears and cheeks started looking big. That was the time when his coach started calling him Cheeku which was the name of a rabbit in a comic book.

Virat is a fitness freak and he is one of the most athletic cricketers of the world. He loves to bat with those who are good in running between the wickets and also understand his calls. Virat called MS Dhoni as his favourite batting partner as he is one of the fastest runners between the wickets and they both have a good understanding. Another batsman with whom Virat loves to bat is AB de Villiers, his Royal Challenger Bangalore’s teammate. Virat says that with AB, they both don’t even need to talk, the partnership just goes on and it’s really wonderful.

Virat had a pretty bad tour in New Zealand and he would have loved to gain his form in IPL before the T20 World Cup 2020 but IPL 2020 has been postponed till April 15 and there are pretty good chances of it getting cancelled or delayed further. However, there has been no official statement by BCCI on this matter.

This Indian Fan’s Apt Reply To PSL Franchise For Sharing An Unpleasant Tweet On Bumrah Is Bang On

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the whole world in an adverse manner as more than 12 lakh people have been found infected with it while over 64,000 have lost their lives all over the world. The condition in Pakistan is also not so good as more than 2800 people have been found infected with COVID-19 and the number of lives lost is 41.

The Pakistan government, celebs, cricketers, etc. are also using social media to spread awareness about this virus in their country and are asking people to remain indoors, go out only very necessary and maintain social distancing. Recently, a franchise of Pakistan Super League (PSL) tried to spread awareness through its official Twitter handle but that didn’t go well with the Indian cricket fans. The PSL franchise Islamabad United posted the photo of Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah overstepping the line during his bowling in the final of Champions Trophy 2017 which was won by Pakistan.

What happened was that Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman edged the ball to the keeper on the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah but the third umpire gave Fakhar Zaman not out as Jasprit overstepped the line and the ball was declared as no-ball. It was the turning point of the match as Fakhar Zaman scored a century and helped Pakistan in winning the match in a big manner.

The caption that was written by Islamabad United was, “Don’t cross the line. It can be costly. Don’t leave your homes unnecessarily, MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCE but make sure your hearts remain close. #UnitedAgainstCovid19”

This tweet was not liked by Indian cricket fans and one Twitter user gave a savage reply to the franchise.

The online user replied with a photo of Pakistani pacer Mohammed Amir overstepping the line while bowling in the test match which was played against England in Lord’s in the year 2010. Doubts were raised over this no-ball as it was pretty huge and after the inquiry, it was revealed that Amir was involved in spot-fixing and he bowled no-ball because he was asked for it by the bookies.

The fan wrote, “Stay Inside, Stay Safe or face 5 year prison” with a wink emoji while sharing the pic.

Mohammed Amir was not only suspended from international cricket for 5 years but he was sent to prison for some time as well.

We also request our readers to stay at home to remain safe from coronavirus.

Ashish Nehra Breaks Silence On Abusing MS Dhoni For Dropping A Catch In 2005 Ind-Pak Match

Ashish Nehra, the former Indian cricketer, had a long career of 18 years and during this period, he saw many ups and downs but he never lost his sense of humour and other than his bowling, he is still remembered by the cricket fans for his smile. Nehra is one of those rare cricketers who made a comeback in the team during the last phase of the career and nowadays, a video is going viral on the Internet which he will definitely not like to watch.

This video is from the match against Pakistan which was played in Ahmedabad in 2005. Let us tell you in detail what happened – in that match, India batted first and put a big total of 315 on the board and in response, Pakistan had a good start. In the fourth over of the innings, Nehra bowled to Shahid Afridi who edged the ball but the ball went past between Dhoni and Rahul Dravid and it aggravated Nehra. As the opportunity was missed, Nehra was highly upset and started abusing Dhoni.

Here is the video:

The match was won by the Pakistanis, Ashish Nehra was not even able to take a single wicket in the match and he proved costly as he gave 75 runs in 9 overs.

Ashish Nehra has opened up about the incident, saying that most of the people think this video is from the match in Vizag but it is from the fourth ODI which was played in Ahmedabad. He said that India-Pakistan match is already a pressure match and he was under more pressure as Shahid Afridi had hit him for a six on the previous delivery.

He further said that suddenly there was a chance to get a wicket but that was missed; however, this was not the first time when a player got so upset and reacted in such a manner. But Nehra also accepted that he is not proud of the manner in which he behaved despite the fact that Mahi and Rahul Dravid were absolutely fine with him after the match.

Nehra also showed his humorous side as he said that the video is going viral because MS Dhoni is in the video and not because of him in the same way the old photo of Nehra giving prize to young Virat Kohli went viral because of Kohli. Ashish Nehra also added that in the future, he may have to explain his kids about his rude behaviour whenever they will see the video.

Presently, all the cricketing events have been cancelled or postponed due to the 21 days lockdown in order to stop the spread of coronavirus. Stay at home to stay safe!
