Ravi Shastri Has An Epic Response To Yuvi Who Trolled Him For Not Giving Him Credit Of WC2011 Win

The Indian cricket fans may not have been able to watch IPL matches this time but yesterday, they celebrated the ninth anniversary of the World Cup victory of 2011, one of the most important events of the Indian cricket. India won the ICC World Cup 2011 after 28 years under the leadership of MS Dhoni while first time, it won the World Cup in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.

The final match was played between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, in which Sri Lanka gave the target of 275 runs to the host which they achieved with six wickets in hand and 10 balls remaining. Indian batsmen Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni played important innings of 97 and 91, respectively which helped the Indian team in chasing the target. While Gambhir stabilized the Indian innings by partnering with Virat Kohli and Dhoni, the then Indian skipper made sure that he finished the match, ensuring that India took home the trophy.

Many Indian fans and former cricketers took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to wish the players who were part of the Indian team which won the 2011 World Cup. The head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri who was a commentator during the World Cup 2011 also shared a video of the final match and wrote, “Many Congratulations Guys! Something you will cherish all your life. Just like we from the 1983 group #WorldCup2011 – @sachin_rt @imVkohli”.

Ravi Shastri has also been a part of a World Cup winning team as he was in the Indian team which won the 1983 World Cup. The former cricketer tagged the legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Indian skipper Virat Kohli in his tweet as they both were a part of the team. Here is the tweet:

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh seemed to be a little upset with Ravi Shastri with the fact that he ignored him and MS Dhoni in his tweet despite the fact that Dhoni was the captain of the team and Yuvi was the player of the tournament. In the World Cup 2011, Yuvi played 9 matches and scored 362 runs averaging 90.50 and it included one hundred and 4 fifties. What’s more, he also took 15 wickets.

Yuvraj replied, “Thanks senior ! U can tag me and mahi also we were also part of it”.

Ravi Shastri was also quick to react; he was full of praise for Yuvi and called him a legend. His tweet read, “When it comes to World Cups, you are no Junior. Tussi Legend Ho”.

Yuvraj Singh was in news recently for monetary supporting the Shahid Afridi Foundation and asking his fans to do the same and for this, he was badly slammed by social media users as Shahid has spoken against India quite a few times.

What is your favourite memory of the World Cup 2011?

Gautam Gambhir Trolled For His Unpleasant Tweet Over Dhoni’s World Cup-Winning Six Pic

The coronavirus pandemic may have forced Indians to sit inside their houses but it just can’t have any effect on their love for the game of cricket. The Indian cricket lovers celebrated the ninth anniversary of India’s World Cup Victory of 2011. India managed to win the ICC World Cup for the second time after a long wait of 28 years as it was in 1983 that it first brought the World Cup home.

MS Dhoni-led team defeated Sri Lanka on 2nd April 2011 in the final of the World Cup 2011 which was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India. Batting first, the visitors gave a target of 275 runs to the hosts with the help of Jayawardene’s century who remained not out.

In reply, India started pretty badly as the opener Virender Sehwag got out at duck while the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was not able to score more than 18 runs before getting out. It was Gautam Gambhir who made sure that runs were scored steadily and his partnership with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni ensured that India reached close to victory.

Gambhir got out for 97, missing his century by just 3 runs but by then, India was in a very good position and Dhoni remained till the last to make sure that India won the match. Dhoni scored 91 runs and the winning shot that he played went for a six after which the whole India celebrated the glorious victory.

That sixer is still very much clear in the minds of many cricket fans and a sports portal posted a tweet with the photo of Dhoni hitting the winning shot of that match. The caption of the tweet was, “#OnThisDay in 2011, the shot that sent millions of Indians into jubilations”.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir didn’t like the tweet and reminded the portal that the World Cup 2011 was won by the entire India, the Indian team as well as the support staff and asked the portal to get rid of their obsession for a six.

Gambhir’s tweet read, “Just a reminder @ESPNcricinfo: #worldcup2011 was won by entire India, entire Indian team & all support staff. High time you hit your obsession for a SIX.”

Here is the tweet:

While few supported Gautam Gambhir as he played an important role in India’s victory, many didn’t like the way the cricketer turned politician reacted. Here are some of the selected tweets:

Thinking Of Ordering Food Online During The Quarantine? Here’s All That You Need To Know

The COVID-19 pandemic has put all of us in quarantine and there’s no denying that staying indoors is the best step towards prevention and safety. But a lot of us are missing our favourite restaurants, while many of us love or depend on online food deliveries. So if you’re thinking of ordering in, here’s what you should know about how safe your food is and what you can do to make it even safer.

Foodies will be happy to know that there is currently no evidence that suggests that the coronavirus can be transmitted through food. This means that well cooked food is safe. Also, many delivery brands have now enforced  additional safety and hygiene measures and are taking  necessary precautions while handling food packages.

While they take some measures at their end, you should take a few safety steps at your end too:

  • Avoid direct hand-to-hand contact with the delivery executive.
  • If the delivery brand offers a no-contact delivery option, make sure you don’t miss out on it.
  • Try to avoid cash on delivery options and pay online to prevent any direct contact with the delivery executive while receiving your products.
  • When you receive your food, transfer the food into your container at home and dispose of the packaging.
  • Heat the food in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and then dig in and enjoy your meal

“You Are Talking So Much Nonsense”, Kevin Pietersen Mercilessly Trolls Ahmad Shehzad

The cricketers all around the globe are sitting at home due to the coronavirus outbreak and Kevin Pietersen, the South Africa born England cricketer, is using this time in taking live interviews on Instagram. Recently, he interviewed Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shehzad and left no chance of trolling the Pak player.

The right-handed Pakistani batsman who plays for Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League 2020 is going through a tough phase as he played seven games but scored only 61 runs. KP asked Ahmad Shehzad as to why he is not scoring runs and in reply, Ahmad said that he has been trying but luck is not on his side.

Kevin didn’t like the answer and asked Ahmad not to tell him this rubbish as he is not a journalist but a friend. Then Ahmad said that he didn’t complain but he was not comfortable playing at number 3. In response, Kevin told him that he is not able to score at 1, 2,3, 4 or 5, he should bat at number 13 for Quetta Gladiators.

Later on, Kevin also talked about the time when he used to share dressing room with Ahmad and said that he is talking nonsense which is going in from one ear and going out from the other, just like he used to do in dressing room.

Cricketers Won’t Be Paid Money If IPL 2020 Does Not Take Place, Says ICA President

The chances of IPL 2020 taking place this year seem to be very bleak now as the number of coronavirus patients in the country is on the rise and this is going to be a very big blow for the cricketers as they will be losing a huge amount of money. Not just the players but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may also suffer a loss of upto Rs. 3000 crores.

It is also being said that BCCI may organise the thirteenth season of IPL later this year but then it may have to cancel any bilateral or international series. As per an official, the players are paid in installments, the first installment of 15% is paid a week before the start of the league, the second installment of 65% during the league and the third and the final installment of 20% within a stipulated period after the league gets over.

Ashok Malhotra, the President of Indian Cricketers’ Association, says that the insurance company won’t pay them as pandemic is not covered as per the agreement and it is impossible to pay the players if there is no game.

Another official says that it not just the big players but many first timers who would have got Rs. 20 lakh, Rs. 40 lakh or Rs. 60 lakh will also suffer as this amount could have brought a big change in their lives.

The BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal says that as of now, no discussion regarding pay cuts have taken place but there is no doubt that BCCI will suffer huge losses as IPL is its biggest tournament.

A former cricketer was of the opinion that the players should understand that BCCI earns from cricket but if there is no cricket being played, BCCI won’t be earning anything. He further said that there is no fault of BCCI in this matter as it is an unavoidable situation.
