Gautam Gambhir Trolled For His Unpleasant Tweet Over Dhoni’s World Cup-Winning Six Pic

The coronavirus pandemic may have forced Indians to sit inside their houses but it just can’t have any effect on their love for the game of cricket. The Indian cricket lovers celebrated the ninth anniversary of India’s World Cup Victory of 2011. India managed to win the ICC World Cup for the second time after a long wait of 28 years as it was in 1983 that it first brought the World Cup home.

MS Dhoni-led team defeated Sri Lanka on 2nd April 2011 in the final of the World Cup 2011 which was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India. Batting first, the visitors gave a target of 275 runs to the hosts with the help of Jayawardene’s century who remained not out.

In reply, India started pretty badly as the opener Virender Sehwag got out at duck while the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was not able to score more than 18 runs before getting out. It was Gautam Gambhir who made sure that runs were scored steadily and his partnership with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni ensured that India reached close to victory.

Gambhir got out for 97, missing his century by just 3 runs but by then, India was in a very good position and Dhoni remained till the last to make sure that India won the match. Dhoni scored 91 runs and the winning shot that he played went for a six after which the whole India celebrated the glorious victory.

That sixer is still very much clear in the minds of many cricket fans and a sports portal posted a tweet with the photo of Dhoni hitting the winning shot of that match. The caption of the tweet was, “#OnThisDay in 2011, the shot that sent millions of Indians into jubilations”.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir didn’t like the tweet and reminded the portal that the World Cup 2011 was won by the entire India, the Indian team as well as the support staff and asked the portal to get rid of their obsession for a six.

Gambhir’s tweet read, “Just a reminder @ESPNcricinfo: #worldcup2011 was won by entire India, entire Indian team & all support staff. High time you hit your obsession for a SIX.”

Here is the tweet:

While few supported Gautam Gambhir as he played an important role in India’s victory, many didn’t like the way the cricketer turned politician reacted. Here are some of the selected tweets:

Thinking Of Ordering Food Online During The Quarantine? Here’s All That You Need To Know

The COVID-19 pandemic has put all of us in quarantine and there’s no denying that staying indoors is the best step towards prevention and safety. But a lot of us are missing our favourite restaurants, while many of us love or depend on online food deliveries. So if you’re thinking of ordering in, here’s what you should know about how safe your food is and what you can do to make it even safer.

Foodies will be happy to know that there is currently no evidence that suggests that the coronavirus can be transmitted through food. This means that well cooked food is safe. Also, many delivery brands have now enforced  additional safety and hygiene measures and are taking  necessary precautions while handling food packages.

While they take some measures at their end, you should take a few safety steps at your end too:

  • Avoid direct hand-to-hand contact with the delivery executive.
  • If the delivery brand offers a no-contact delivery option, make sure you don’t miss out on it.
  • Try to avoid cash on delivery options and pay online to prevent any direct contact with the delivery executive while receiving your products.
  • When you receive your food, transfer the food into your container at home and dispose of the packaging.
  • Heat the food in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and then dig in and enjoy your meal

Let us know what you’re cooking at home or ordering online during quarantine.

“You Are Talking So Much Nonsense”, Kevin Pietersen Mercilessly Trolls Ahmad Shehzad

The cricketers all around the globe are sitting at home due to the coronavirus outbreak and Kevin Pietersen, the South Africa born England cricketer, is using this time in taking live interviews on Instagram. Recently, he interviewed Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shehzad and left no chance of trolling the Pak player.

The right-handed Pakistani batsman who plays for Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League 2020 is going through a tough phase as he played seven games but scored only 61 runs. KP asked Ahmad Shehzad as to why he is not scoring runs and in reply, Ahmad said that he has been trying but luck is not on his side.

Kevin didn’t like the answer and asked Ahmad not to tell him this rubbish as he is not a journalist but a friend. Then Ahmad said that he didn’t complain but he was not comfortable playing at number 3. In response, Kevin told him that he is not able to score at 1, 2,3, 4 or 5, he should bat at number 13 for Quetta Gladiators.

Later on, Kevin also talked about the time when he used to share dressing room with Ahmad and said that he is talking nonsense which is going in from one ear and going out from the other, just like he used to do in dressing room.

This banter will definitely bring smile on your face and it is certainly helpful considering the fact the coronavirus outbreak has left us pretty scared.

Cricketers Won’t Be Paid Money If IPL 2020 Does Not Take Place, Says ICA President

The chances of IPL 2020 taking place this year seem to be very bleak now as the number of coronavirus patients in the country is on the rise and this is going to be a very big blow for the cricketers as they will be losing a huge amount of money. Not just the players but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may also suffer a loss of upto Rs. 3000 crores.

It is also being said that BCCI may organise the thirteenth season of IPL later this year but then it may have to cancel any bilateral or international series. As per an official, the players are paid in installments, the first installment of 15% is paid a week before the start of the league, the second installment of 65% during the league and the third and the final installment of 20% within a stipulated period after the league gets over.

Ashok Malhotra, the President of Indian Cricketers’ Association, says that the insurance company won’t pay them as pandemic is not covered as per the agreement and it is impossible to pay the players if there is no game.

Another official says that it not just the big players but many first timers who would have got Rs. 20 lakh, Rs. 40 lakh or Rs. 60 lakh will also suffer as this amount could have brought a big change in their lives.

The BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal says that as of now, no discussion regarding pay cuts have taken place but there is no doubt that BCCI will suffer huge losses as IPL is its biggest tournament.

A former cricketer was of the opinion that the players should understand that BCCI earns from cricket but if there is no cricket being played, BCCI won’t be earning anything. He further said that there is no fault of BCCI in this matter as it is an unavoidable situation.

Twitter Hits Out At Yuvraj Singh As He Asks People To Donate To Shahid Afridi’s Foundation

The coronavirus outbreak has affected the whole world and India’s neighbouring country Pakistan is also fighting with this contagious virus in order to save its citizens. However, the Imran Khan government is still not able to impose complete lockdown in the nation unlike India. The total number of infected cases in Pakistan has crossed the 2000 mark while 26 have lost their lives till now due to this disease.

Besides the Pakistani government, many social organisations have also come forward to help the Pakistani citizens and Shahid Afridi Foundation which is owned by former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi is also one of them. Shahid Afridi has asked for help from other cricketers also and Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Akhtar, etc. have come forward to contribute for this noble cause.

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh also raised his voice and asked people to help by donating to Shahid Afridi Foundation. He also posted a video in which he said that he had been nominated by cricketer Harbhajan Singh for this, adding that in such times, we should stand together to fight against coronavirus.

Yuvraj Singh’s tweet read, “These are testing times, it’s time to lookout for each other specially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Lets do our bit, I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial & @SAFoundationN in this noble initiative of covid19. Pls donate on http://donatekarona.com  #StayHome @harbhajan_singh”

Indian Twitterati was not able to digest the fact that Yuvraj Singh was supporting someone who has constantly spoken against India, especially in regard to Kashmir. Indian citizens were already unhappy because of the poor condition of Hindu and Christian minorities in Pakistan and now there are reports that in these tough times, the Hindus and Christians were refused ration, saying that it is meant only for Muslims.

What do you have to say in this regard?

Everyone is sitting at home nowadays due to the lockdown in the country and the Bollywood celebs are no exception to it. Undoubtedly, B-Town has also suffered a setback on account of the coronavirus outbreak as release of few movies has been postponed indefinitely while shooting of many movies films has been stopped. The Indian film actors are now spending time with their families, interacting with fans, indulging in other activities and making posts on social media networks to spread awareness regarding COVID-19.

Former Cricketer Pragyan Ojha Slams Haters For Questioning Donation Amount In A Hard-Hitting Tweet

The number of coronavirus patients is constantly increasing in the whole world which makes it more important for all of us to remain indoors so that we don’t get infected with this lethal virus. India is under complete lockdown for 21 days which started from March 25 and is going to continue till April 14. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested the citizens to help him in saving them and their families by staying at home so that the chain of the virus transmission can be broken.

PM Modi also requested everyone to come forward and help the country in fighting the novel virus COVID-19 by making donations as per their capacities in the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES). This fund will be used in the future as well if God forbid we face another critical situation just like present scenario.

Many celebrities from Bollywood and sports world came forward to donate in this fund or in CM relief fund, such as Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Kapil Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, etc. However, some people started questioning the amount they were donating, especially the amount of donations that were made by the Indian cricketers.

There is no denying the fact that cricket is the most loved sport of India and after the advent of IPL, even those who don’t get the chance of playing for the national team also earn good. Some people felt that the cricketers are donating very less in comparison to what they earn and they should have donated much bigger amount than what they have actually donated. Well, it is true that Indian cricketers are highly paid and they earn huge amounts from endorsements as well but it is also true that it is their hard-earned money and nobody has the right to question them.

The former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha is also not happy with the fact that people are questioning those who are making contributions. He took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and slammed critics, saying that help is help and it can’t be measured. He also said that people should be thankful to those who are contributing instead of questioning them.

Here is what Pragyan Ojha tweeted, “It’s very strange to see people who are coming forward to give a helping hand in this crisis by donating are being questioned (how much have they donated). A help is a help, it is not measured. We should be thankful to them. #JustAThought #COVID2019india”

What are your views in this regard? Do you agree with Pragyan Ojha?
