7 Fronts On Which Indian Economy Is Affected After 3 Years Of Demonetization

On 8th November 2016, PM Modi was to do a live press conference. Everyone was curious about what the press conference would be about, what will be that big announcement.

Finally it was revealed that the Government has banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. And thus began the demonetization. People were surprised, amused, angry, and happy. Everyone had their own views on the matter.

The decision got all economists around the world talking as no one was expecting such a bold and gutsy move.
But was such a thing necessary, could it have been executed better? A whole lot questions still wander around even after 3 years.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of demonetization. Let us have a look at some of the effects it has had on Indian economy since then.

1) The personal finance.

People have moved on to saving less cash at homes and more in banks. This is a positive aspect as keeping money in banks help the economy grow, alongside that one can be tension free about the safety of money.

2) The digital payment system.

The digital payment system has literally boomed in India after the demonetization. Almost everyone has now moved on to the digital mode as it is easy to use and there is no issue of change alongside that there are many cash back offers.

Digitization in turn has led to the money being tracked better which has helped the economy in an indirect way.

3) The Tax Payment.

After the demonetization a lot more people in India have started paying taxes. The tax payment system is thus being more fluent and the tax helps the economy grow.

Looking from the tax point of view, demonetization has done wonders.

4) The GDP growth.

Demonetization definitely resulted in an economic slowdown. Banning of notes is one of the major reasons as to why the GDP growth rate came down to 5.7% this year.

This is one of the very negative results of demonetization which the government would hope to undo in the upcoming years.

5) The Black money.

One of the major purposes of demonetization was to kill the black money revolving in the system but it failed to do so. Almost all the money in the data was returned back to the government.

In the black money front, the demonetization did not help the Indian economy.

6) The effect on enterprises.

Demonetization had a major effect on Medium small and micro enterprises. These are in a way the backbone of the economy.

Many flourished through the digitization but a few who worked on the basis of cash flow were gone out of the system. It was very cruel on these small enterprises.

7) The terror funding.

The demonetization move is believed to have stopped terror funding to a certain extent. This in turn has led to focus the government on other major economic reforms and their implementation which in an indirect way is quite good for the economy.

Thus it can be concluded that demonetization was a move which had the right intentions but a poor execution. Nevertheless it has benefited the economy in the long term but the short term results have not been so great as there has been an economic slowdown.

Analyzing The Top 5 Reasons Behind Delhi Pollution.

Delhi, the capital city is choking from the past few days, since Diwali. The pollution levels have been very high from past few days.

The dangerous PM 2.5 particles have increased at a rapid pace. Such dangerous particles in the environment can lead to various diseases including rashes on skin, coughing and a whole lot of trouble in lungs.

The AQI i.e. Air Quality Index has been as high as 1500 in some places in Delhi. An AQI of more than 300 is considered hazardous.

There are many factors contributing to such depleting air quality. Let us have a look at some of these:

1) Stubble Burning.

This is one of the major causes of Delhi air pollution. Farmers from Haryana have been burning stubbles from past 5-6 years. It has been observed that specifically around this part of the year the air pollution rises significantly.

The winds carry the harmful particles emitted after burning to all parts in Delhi. Government must collaborate and take the necessary steps and find a solution to this very poor practice which is repeated every year.

2) Our huge carbon footprints.

Carbon footprints are a measure of the amount of Carbon a person’s activity emit. It is a good way to measure how much pollution an individual is generating and helps in finding alternate ways of doing things.

We as individuals are not very much aware of the small efforts that we could make so as to reduce our carbon footprints. Our ignorance towards our environment is a very sad and major concern.

3) Lack of trees in Delhi.

Delhi is a city which is growing at a very rapid pace. With so many people migrating to the city for better opportunities and better lifestyle the living space is very much needed.

To accommodate everyone, trees are cleared and houses are in turn built for the same. Clearing of trees leaves the nature vulnerable to pollution.

It is such a disappointment that just to build more places to live, we have to compromise on the quality of life.

4) The geographical disadvantage.

Delhi is a landlocked place. There is not much wind moving across to blow of the harmful pollution causing particles. Especially in winters when the wind settles down, the particles tend to stay in their place.

This is a major disadvantage and alongside that Delhi shares its borders with farming states like Haryana and Punjab, thus facing that stubble burning issue.

5) The poor planning and policies.

Delhi has been facing similar situations from past 2-3 years now but not many steps have been taken to handle the issue.

The government has been lethargic in doing the long term planning and executes policies only when it is high time. Also the policies like odd/even are not very effective as vehicles contribute to less than 10% of the pollution under which two wheelers are a very major contributor that are not banned.

It is high time that the people and the government of Delhi work in collaboration if the capital city has to avoid such circumstances in the near future.

5 Annoying Things About Delhi Metro

Delhi Metro, a project that has changed the way people travel in the capital city. In such a congested city where population is increasing every day, Delhi metro acts as a relief for travelers.

The metro commuters are able to avoid traffic and travel at a much less rate in an air conditioned environment. With so many stations, the metro is approachable to almost every place.

But every good thing has something bad or annoying associated with it. Here is a list of some really annoying things about this marvelous wonder.

1) People peeking into your screens.

People, what else could be more annoying? People in India don’t respect the privacy or personal space of an individual much. They will sneak peek into your phone to see what you are doing.

This really annoys anyone/everyone who is actually doing something personal. People need to learn to mind their own business while travelling and not disturb someone who is actually very busy.

2) Crowd not behaving in a civilized way.

People really find different ways to annoy you. They will do things like talking or laughing loudly in metro, unnecessarily fighting for the seats, not realizing the right way to hold their luggage and so many more things.

People need to understand that this is a public vehicle. Behaving accordingly would be highly appreciated.

3) The speed of blue line metro.

Blue Line metro is among the latest metro lines; hence it is very well maintained. The only problem with Blue line is that it travels too slowly.

There are a large number of stations on blue line and travelling from one end to other feels like an eternity. No matter how much you binge watch, you will ultimately be bored and annoyed.

4) The frequency on Yellow Line.

Yellow Line metro has a very low frequency. Sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes for a metro to arrive.

Waiting for so long, that too when you are already late for work is a hell of a lot annoying. The frequency really needs to be increased as people rely a lot on metros to reach their workplace on time.

5) Too much walking for changing the lines.

If you want to change from Pink to Blue line or vice versa, you have to walk too much. The walk is a long as a KM.
Walking so much that too in the Delhi heat is a sure shot reason to get annoyed. An arrangement must be done between changing stations so that people don’t have to walk so much.

Walking so much, make people question about the point of travelling in a vehicle.

Well, Delhi metro might have some annoying things but one cannot ignore the perks it has provided to the Delhi people.

Alongside that it is also one of the cleanest and well maintained public transports of all time.
Once the people understand, how to behave in such a transport, the metro would really be so less annoying and almost perfect for commutation.

Delhi metro is indeed a blessing for people if they realize its true worth.

Top 7 Factors Affecting The Indian Economy

India, a developing country, a country that attracts huge business because of its large population. Economic growth in India has been one of the many positives that have existed since its independence.

India witnessed in economic revolution in late 1980’s and early 90’s. Since then the economy has only grown and India is currently among the fastest growing GDP nations in the world.

There have been any recent blames on government about the economic slowdown but slowdowns like these are just an indication of the major changes that are about to come.

Well let us have a look at some of the factors that affect the Indian economy.

1) Capital flow and stock exchange Market.

India attracts investors. With such a huge population there is a huge chance for a thriving business opportunity. Owing to these factors the capital keeps flowing in India and the foreign exchange rates also help.

Even if the market falls, India has less to worry about as the currency will still be overhauled.

2) Political changes.

This is among the major factors that affect the economic growth in India. The new governance brings in new changes and new policies. These policies play a major role in changing the import/export scenario which in turn plays a major part in the economy.

The relation between the various foreign ministers also plays a very important role.

3) Global currency trends.

The currency of India is more or less interlinked with other major countries like USA, UK and Japan. If the domination value of these countries falls, then the value of INR is bound to fall.

Similarly, if the value rises, then it affects the Indian economy as so much money is dependent on foreign exchange.

Thus, foreign exchange is another major factor.

4) Demographic and Poverty Rates.

India has taken out millions of people out of poverty after independence. The result of this reflects on the positive economic growth.

With India being such a huge international market, it cannot afford people staying in poverty. With people out of poverty the value of India enhances internationally. If poverty somehow rises then it is bound to take the economy down.

5) Energy and Oil.

India is among the major oil importing countries in the world. When the price of oil fluctuates and it gets inflated then the INR is bound to get disturbed.

It takes an unstable route which is not very good for such a fast growing economy.

6) The RBI banks.

RBI has almost everything to do with Indian economy. A slight change in the assessment ranking of RBI has a major impact on the INR.

It can lead to over assessment or under ranking of the rupee.

7) Taxation system.

Taxation system impacts hugely the economy of a country. The easier, simple and stricter tax system is implemented in the country, the better will be the cash flow.

Citizens will be bound to stay corrupt free and honest. All this can only be implemented with the help of an open system.

Once the taxation system is smooth, the country’s economy will surely grow.
